KLARES TRÄUMEN(Lucid Dreaming) ②
Grimoire Atelier. Somewhere
After Raul had gotten tired of listening with the daily news, which had gotten pretty old for him even to him who feels that the event is still fresh, he then decided to rush to his destination – The Grimoire Atelier. The establishment known as the Grimoire Atelier was a 2 story mansion with a much western design. It was lined with rows of red roses guiding its path to the door. A very unique building if one is to say the least. It did not match any of the houses that surrounded it. On that note, the inhabitant is much unique in a more different sense.
“You’re late.” A voice which was clearly patient spoke to him.
“Sorry, traffic was quite heavy on my way here.” Raul politely replied at the person who had welcomed him from the other side of the door.
This person who was wearing a black over-all turtleneck dress, is one, Raul could only describe as a witch. When Raul first met him 2 days ago, he really thought this person to be a woman. But after speaking with him, he was clearly male. However, despite that in Raul’s mind he still continued to call him witch.
Hmm where should he start. Well, even if Raul had been asked to introduce this person, he really doesn’t know much about the person, other than the fact that he goes by the name ‘MAJOU’, which is a Japanese word which meant ‘witch’. Even for Raul who has never been in a serious fight before was sure that this person was a fierce fighter. However, despite that radiating aura of strength his voice and continence were very calm. Majou’s black clothing seemed gloomy, but his image was very warm. Although his eyes were calm his words where sharp, and his smile… those smile which for some reason can be interpreted as a farce and welcoming at the same time had given the impression and left Raul with one conclusion… Raul could really just describe him as a mysterious ‘Witch’…
The reason as to why Raul is in this particular establishment talking to a mysterious Witch whom he just met 2 days ago instead of keeping his girlfriend and sister company at the hospital was because he was about to do something illogical in order to save his only remaining family and this person has given him that opportunity.
“Well, let us first start with you reciting what you have learned so far.” After settling in one corner of the room, Majou direct the conversation to what seem like a continuation of an earlier context.
Watching this person smile nonchalantly and the fact that he had him to do something like reciting and study in the middle of a crisis did vexed Raul. However, the knowledge that he was about to recite is the only chance he has to protecting my family.
Did you know that our unconsciousness is actually connected, just like rivers, lakes, and marshes are connected to the ocean? Things that have happened in the consciousness could actually be remembered in the actual world. Thus we have come and coined the phenomenon as Déjà vu. By that analogy, the human consciousness is like a river and it all connects to a larger consciousness – an Ocean of Consciousness so to speak.
Freely traversing the unconsciousness of others, interacting and remembering the state of the Dream -- ‘Lucid Dreaming’… this was the ticket Raul had found to create a path towards the game world of the ‘11 Gates’. This is a state of dreaming in which you are quite conscious… or perhaps the more accurate word would be: ‘Becoming aware that you are dreaming’.
According to Majou, traversing the dream world to where his sister and girlfriend is should be possible, since technically speaking the 13 Million victims are indeed sleeping, more or less dreaming. With the theory of the unconsciousness being connected, it is safe to assume that dream world is connected to the sea known as ’11 Gates’. Thus it should grant Raul entrance to where his only remaining family is. With that theory in mind, Raul’s purpose is to acquire the ability to do a Lucid in a dream and traverse the ocean to see the world of games ’11 Gates’.
One could only think this might be an illogical choice, but for Raul it was ten times better compared to the state where he could only wait in a corner awaiting the news for the safety or death of his love ones.
“Well it seems that you have studied quite well, given that you had only learned it for 2 days.” Majou continued his nonchalant voice so Raul did not know whether this guy named Majou was being sarcastic or just stating a fact, so he could only show him a discontented face.
Direct with that discontent, Majou just smiled in return which made Raul more pissed-off internally. However, he can’t really get angry with him for too long since Majou’s smile really just meant well or at least that’s what the Raul had placed it in his head.
“Are we going to go with the specifics today?” Raul made a query to decrease his agitation.
“Yes, today I will tell you about the phases of lucid dreaming.” Majou now bearing a serious face that made Raul gulped some of his saliva.
“To make the explanation a bit easier to comprehend I will be giving them as analogies / metaphors so keep your head up.” Majou looks Raul in the eye, and of course the boy responded to him with the same serious look, Raul was not rank third in his class for nothing… memorizing what was given to him in just 2 days was a cinch.
Majou then continued his explanation.
“You already know about the unconscious being the greater ocean, the seas are the collective thoughts and the rivers and lakes the individual unconscious.” Majou started to draw in the white board illustrating what he had said.
“In order for you to get to the ‘SEA’ known as ’11 Gates” you must first become aware… aware that you are dreaming… that is the state of lucid dreaming.”
“Well, for lucid, if I were to have it as a comparison, I will have to say, this is like the video game you are quite familiar with.” Majou then pointed to the title of the VRMMORPG that has taken Raul’s family prisoner: “11 Gates”
“Let us get over with the certain phases that you must undergo…” and here Majou stops writing in the board and simply tells Raul directly.
According to how Raul had understood it, using the game terminologies: there were basically six (6) phases in ‘Lucid Dreaming’…
Phase 0. This phase is where one becomes aware of the dream, but it is simple awareness… it is like playing a demo game of a variety of games in one CD, you can play the games, but the access and routes are vague.
Phase 1. This is phase where one is becoming aware to the movement in the dream world. In the video game analogy this is where you are seeing a younger friend play a certain game and you have no actual control with the movements… you keep saying do a forward, forward, square, square but the younger player would instead do a down, down, circle, A, B… … …
Phase 2. In this phase the lucid dreamer would have one seeing the game being played by an older player, you would tell him to do something, and he would do it to a certain degree, you are simply in auto run with this phase.
Phase 3. The third phase of lucid dreaming is like a transition from playing the game from the PC version to a CONSOLE version of the same game, the controls are quite different and thus you have a hard time adjusting to the controls and the system.
Phase 4. Now this is the phase in which one something one can actually control, here the player is the one holding the controller and playing the game for the first time, however in nightmare mode, and you are still trying to go by the controls.
Phase 5, is the real deal you have the controls and playing the game in normal mode, not only will one be aware but also have absolute control to the movements in the game.
The last phase according to Majou is more advanced… a hacker and have developer access to the game. Where all the laws of the game can be bended to one’s own will.
For the time being Majou has made it known to Raul that he should be targeting at least up to the 5th phase to be able to do something in the dream world. Majou also made mention that there is a great gap between phases so he really just needs to concentrate on being aware for now and eventually reach the phase where he can freely move.
“Is the explanation understandable?”
“Yes!”
“Yes, you are really quite a child.” Here he goes again with a tone that does not act sarcastic but not really pass as praise either.
But with this Raul has now the knowledge that would aide him in his quest to see his remaining family… His next goal will be to do the real deal and practice more to be able to attain the power known as Lucid Dream.
‘Until then wait for me… Maya… … …Tina…’ Raul speaks their names to give his affirmed will.
