死海文書4Q510–511

ヘブライ語またはアラム語の用語 lilith が初めて明確に使用されているのは、Dead Sea Scrolls（死海文書）4Q510–511の一部。

そして之なる指導者は宣言する、彼の誉れ高き壮観を、破壊の天使や私生児・悪魔・リリス・咆哮者その他（砂漠の住人など）の霊、そして前触れもなく人々に取り憑き、理解の精神から人々を遠ざけようとする霊たちを全て、畏怖させ、恐慌に陥れる壮観を。

And I, the Instructor, proclaim His glorious splendor so as to frighten and to te[rify] all the spirits of the destroying angels, spirits of the bastards, demons, Lilith, howlers, and [desert dweller...] and those which fall upon men without warning to lead them astray from a spirit of understanding.

ここに出てくる lilith は、残念ながら名前だけで、その容姿も性格も不明。
