Traditional; New
Kaede felt a tickle on her nose.
She hovered in the intermittent moment between a sweet dream she didn’t want to end and morning.
Kaede felt another soft tickle.
“Good morning.”
Kaede opened her eyes slowly, she blushed seeing Mary lying next to her.
“Did you forget I was here?”
“N- no, I just thought it was a dream.”
Mary giggled pushing the cover of the futon away and sitting up.
“It does feel like a dream, but here we are.”
Kaede admired the light blue Yukata that clung to Mary’s slender figure.
“That color suits you very well.”
Mary smiled.
“Thanks for letting me borrow it.”
Kaede shook her head, now propping herself up.
“It’s not a problem, please keep it.”
Mary looked disappointedly at the fabric.
“I didn’t get to take a bath last night, but I don’t think I’m that dirty.”
Kaede shook her hands furiously.
“That’s not what I meant! Y- you look so good in it, I think you should dress in traditional clothing more often!”
Mary hesitated for a moment, creating a sense of tension within Kaede. Suddenly a smile formed on her face.
“I’m only joking.”
Kaede relaxed her shoulders, frowning with embarrassment.
Mary reaches out and rested her forearms on Kaede’s shoulders. She flirtatiously pulled her closer so their eyes were only centimeters apart.
“I would like to wear more traditional clothing, if it means we can spend more time together like this.”
Kaede studied Mary’s eyes, they looked much different in the daylight, more beautiful.
“Yes. I- I would like that.”
There was a moment of silence as they sat with their new relationship.
“Please visit the house anytime you like. I- I would like it if you stopped by often.
Kaede caught herself, embarrassed by her neediness.
“I love your home! I would like to visit often, I don’t want to impose too much though.”
“There’s now way you could, what’s mine is yours... If you’re okay with that. I guess.”
Mary sighed and reached over to hug Kaede.
“Please don’t be so hesitant when you say things. I’m not going anywhere.”
Kaede blushed once again, slowly accepting the hug.
“I’m sorry. This is very new to me. I just get so nervous."
“Me too, but I’m more excited.”
Kaede nodded in affirmation.
“This house is yours too. Please visit often.”
Mary smiled.
“I will.”
