Almost Summer
“Be honest with me.”
“Okay.”
“It’s summer, and that means swimsuits and Yukata.”
“Right.”
“The figure is more on display, if you will.”
“I get it, but what’s your point Rika.”
“Do I need to lose weight?”
Yuki began laughing.
Rika blushed, and rubbed her arm.
“I- I’m serious. It’s kind of embarrassing to ask.”
Yuki tried to stifle her laughter.
“I’m sorry, no you don’t need to lose weight.”
“I don’t know, I’ve been gaming a lot recently.”
“I’ve noticed.”
She thought back to Rika’s all night gaming session from the weekend before.
“And did you know alcohol has a ton of calories in it?”
Yuki’s smile quickly faded, and she looked at the floor.
“I uh, of course I knew that.”
“I should probably lay off of both of them.”
Yuki considered her Anime marathons and multiple cans of beer.
“I should, probably, also.”
Yuki rubbed her shoulder.
“I really don’t think you have anything to worry about.”
Yuki blushed.
“It can’t hurt though.”
“You’re right, but don’t worry about your figure.”
Yuki stared insistently.
“And you don’t worry about yours. You shouldn’t be comparing yourself to me if that’s what you’re worried about.”
“N- no, I’m not.”
“We have different body types, and...”
Yuki blushed again.
“... you’re very attractive.”
Rika also blushed.
“You are also, maybe I’m a bit jealous or something.”
“I hate to interrupt this awkwardly romantic moment, but we still have work to do.”
Kiko sat in her chair with her arms crossed.
“But, you two very cute. And, also attractive as you are, so third party, don’t worry about anything.”
Rika and Yuki were not entirely used to being scolded and having their cuteness complimented at the same time by Kiko, despite it being a common occurrence.
“Yes ma’am!”
Kiko blushed and waved their exclamations away.
“You two will make me feel old, and I’m not your teacher. And, Rika?”
“Yes?”
“You have a meeting to attend.”
Rika looked at the clock on her computer.
“I forgot!”
“Time flies during these romantic conversations you two have.”
Rika took her phone and hurried off to the conference room.
“Have fun!”
“I won’t!”
She and Yuki waited till Rika was out of view.
“Want to go get coffee?”
Yuki nodded.
“They have a new drink.”
“I know right?”
They both stood up, and made their way to the elevators.
