And Her Heart Grew
“So how was your coffee date with Mary?”
Rika had hardly walked through the door, seeing Yuki sitting in the same place as she had been, but with a beer and empties on the low table in front of her.
“Did you drink all those? And, it was extremely romantic.”
“Kiko was over for a bit, and I actually feel a little jealous of her.”
“Well, I basically dumped her a second time, so you shouldn’t be.”
Yuki looked away from the TV and set her beer down.
“You dumped her again?”
“Well, it was more like I properly broke up with her.”
“So she wasn’t sad, again?”
“I think she was more relieved, and it’s not like we hate one another. We loved one another at a time and in a way still do.”
Rika’s eyes opened widely, realizing what she had just said.
“T- that doesn’t sound good, I mean like-“
Yuki giggled.
“I sort of understand.”
“I know I love you because of having loved her.”
Yuki was resting her cheek on her hand.
“How so?”
Rika blushed and poked her own cheek.
“Your the one...”
Yuki smiled and batted her eyes.
“Now kiss me!”
Rika tilted her head and looked at the beer cans again.
“Are you drunk?”
Yuki giggled, relaxing her head on the armrest of the couch.
“I wouldn’t say ‘drunk’ more like slightly tipsy.”
She reached out with her arms, beckoning Rika to come closer.
“I actually do want a kiss though.”
Rika sat on the couch next to her, offering her lap.
“That was romantic, but you should take a nap.”
Yuki layed her head down on Rika’s lap pillow.
“Alright.”
“You say that as if you don’t want to.”
“Of course I want to! I’m just thinking about you and Mary today.”
“What about it? Are you bothered by it, I can-“
Yuki put a finger Rika’s lips.
“No, silly, I’m really proud of you. Her heart was healed and your heart grew.”
/This girl always knows what to say!/
“You think so?”
“Yes.”
Yuki waved her hand in a circular motion.
“There’s a change in the atmosphere around you.”
“Really?”
“Mhm.”
“I think you get philosophical when you drink.”
Yuki pouted.
“I’m always philosophical, and I didn’t have that much. Just like, four.”
“Four...?”
“Cans.”
“I thought these were also Kiko’s empties.”
“Oh no, she recycled hers when she left.”
“That’s thoughtful, I hope there’s at least some left. I could go for a can.”
“Unfortunately, I took the last one.”
Rika poked Yuki’s cheek.
“Thanks.”
Yuki waved her hand.
“I’ll go get some after I nap.”
“Alright, you need to pay though.”
By the time she finished her sentence she realized Yuki was already asleep.
