My Second Companion

Thanks to the new skill I had just learned I could view my new companions info without needing to read it from his card form. I also noticed there were things in there that was not in most other cards such as having a job class. Everybody in the world has the ability to acquire a job class to help develop there skills in a certain direction. Combat classes have an easier time learning skills for battle while a non-combat class tend to acquire skills for everyday convenience. The samurai class was also considered a superior job due to it being difficult to acquire. Some conditions usually have to be met to gain a certain job. But just from being created the beastman before me already had just a job class. I was a little envious of that.

“So what should I call you from now on?” (Arin)

“What are you talking about master, you’re the one who made me. You should be the one that decides what my name is. Although I do ask you make it a good name. Something that represents my strength.” (Beastman)

His appearance was similar to that from the Eastern Continent so it would probably be best to use a name from that region. There was also the fact that he seemed to rely on lightning as his main element so that should be a part of it as well.

“Well how does the name Raiden sound to you?” (Arin)

“Hahaha Raiden eh! I like it. It’s a very strong name. From now on you can call me Raiden master. (Raiden)

“I’m glad you’re happy with the name but why do you keep calling me master?” (Arin)

“You’re the one who created me so it just seemed natural to call you that. Would you prefer something else?” (Raiden)

“No it’s okay to call me that when there aren’t others around but if you say that in public people might find that a bit weird.” (Arin)

I am only a regular villager after all. If Raiden kept calling me master in front of others it might lead to weird misunderstandings or worse, someone finding out the true power of the [Character] card.

“When we’re in public I prefer you call me by my name Arin. (Arin)

“If that is what you want I have no reason to complain. No need to worry master.” (Arin)

Raiden seemed like quite the free spirit. I wonder how my daily will change with him around now.

“Well now that we’ve got everything out of the way why don’t we do a little hunting to see what you’re able to do Raiden.” (Arin)

“Hell yeah. I’m looking forward to it.” (Raiden)

Raiden smiled excitedly at the chance to let loose. With Pebble in tow the three of us went deep into the forest to find a worthy opponent to test Raidens skills on. We didn’t go as deep as I had before out of fear of getting lost again so we decided to go as far as to a large lake not to far from the village. It was a good drinking hole for many monsters in the area so all we had to do was wait for an enemy to approach.

Thirty minutes into waiting group of three crimson boars appeared. Two of them were roughly 4 meters tall while the other one was only 3 meters. With their large size and numbers it would usually take a large group of hunters to take even one of them down. But I have a rank 8 companion now. We should have more then enough strength to take these guys down.

“Alright Raiden lets see what you can do. Think you can handle these guys by yourself.” (Arin)

“No need to sweat it master. After I take them down lets have a nice barbecue to celebrate my birthday.” (Raiden)

Raiden gripped the handles of both his katana and took a stance of someone about to charge. With one step forward his body’s image began to blur and in that brief moment had dashed to the other side of one of the crimson boars with both swords fully drawn and the boar’s head completely severed. That must have been his [Swift Sword Technique] skill considering how fast the attack was.

The other two boars were enraged by the death of the other and now began to charge at Raiden. Raiden sheathed both sword and held out both hands, stopping each boar with one hand each. In front of each boars face two magic circles formed and shot bolts of lightning at point blank range, frying both boars from the inside out.

The remaining boars fell to the ground as motionless bodies, with not a scratch to be seen of Raiden.

“So master, I hope you know how to cook because we are going to be eating good for a while. Hahaha.” (Raiden)

Raiden with all three boars over his shoulders walks back over to me and drops the crimson boars at my feet. I then turn them into cards with my [Card Craft] skill and placed those cards in my pocket.

“Lets head back to the village then before it gets to late. I already learned my mistake from last time.” (Arin)

“Alright! We’re going to have a meat party tonight!” (Raiden)

Raiden was definitely excited not just for the food but also having a satisfying first hunt. I just hope he doesn’t turn into a huge battle junky. But I’m sure I’m worrying over nothing. And with feeling excited for the future we made our way back to the village. I felt like the time to leave the village and become real adventurers would come sooner then expected.
