A New Adventure
About a week had gone by since adding Raiden to the team. In that time we’ve been going in and out of the forest hunting down monsters for material cards. We’ve mostly have been dealing with rabid rabbits and the occasional horned wolves, but they were no challenge what so ever. We haven’t seen many crimson boars since that time at the lake so it feels like we’ve outgrown this hunting ground.
Looking at how strong we’ve become I believed it was time to finally leave the village and become true adventurers.
“So Arin, have you decided where to go yet?” (Ludo)
“I’m not sure father. I’ve never left the village before so I can’t tell where’s the best place to start. (Arin)
We were both looking down at a map of the country. We lived in the kingdom of Xiphonia. Our village didn’t have a name and was near the western border to our neighbor country Oriklon. The country’s capital city was to far to travel to for the time being. The idea was to find other towns I can go to on my way to the capital where I can get experience doing quest for the local adventurers guilds. The trouble was finding the ideal first town to travel to.
“If you still don’t have a place in mind might I recommend the town of Yarrin?” (Ludo)
Father pointed to a spot on the map north east of where our village was towards the mountains. The distance didn’t look to far. Probably only a few days travel. And it looked like it was in the same direction as the capital.
“My old blacksmithing master still lives in that town. Plus this place is a famous mining town where many rare ores can be found. I also hear that the adventurers guild there tend to have many subjugation quest for the monsters taking up residence in the mines.” (Ludo)
This place looked perfect. I could acquire both new monster materials and rare ore at the same time.
“This sounds perfect. Looks like I know where I’m going to first.” (Arin)
“If that’s the case let me write a letter of introduction for you to my old master. He’s a much better smith then me. He’ll be able to make much better equipment for you then I ever will.” (Ludo)
Father had gotten out a piece of paper and began writing the letter. He placed it in an envelope and handed it over to me.
“His place is called the The Giants Hammer. Once you’re registered as an adventurer name sure you stop by his shop and send him my regards.” (Ludo)
“Of course father. I’ll be sure to check him out.” (Arin)
Now I knew where I was going and what I would do. All I needed now was to prepare everything I would need for the long journey. Raiden and Pebble were excited as well.
“I hope we find a tasty monster in those mines. Maybe if we’re lucky we’ll find a dragon. I hear those things taste phenomenal.” (Raiden)
“We’re not ready to fight a dragon just yet. You might be able to handle it but there’s no way I’d survive that.” (Arin)
While Raiden was going on about all the tasty monsters he wanted to eat Pebble looked like he was more interested in the rare ore in the mines. His eyes were glistening at the mention of the ore.
“I guess that golems like rare ores. I wonder if they eat them.” (Arin)
The three of use packed up everything we needed for the long journey and planned to head out first thing in the morning. When we woke up the next day the three of us said our goodbyes to my father and Guts who were waiting for us at the village entrance.
“Now Arin remember to use your soul card to the fullest you have to rely on your creativity. It’s the same with fighting monsters. Make sure you keep yourself safe. Raiden, Pebble, I’m counting on you to take care of my boy. Make sure he doesn’t get into to much trouble.” (Ludo)
“You have nothing to fear sir. I’ll make sure not even a monster stampede touches a hair on my masters head.” (Raiden)
“Hahaha glad to hear it.” (Ludo)
Pebble nodded his head to Raidens words, expressing his confidence to Raiden’s words.
“Oh, before I forget take this.” (Ludo)
My father then handed me a belt with three deck boxes attached to the right side of it.
“I used this back in my adventuring days. It’s enchanted to hold five times the amount of cards in it. And if you think of a specific card in the deck it’ll draw it out for you deck box for you.” (Ludo)
“Thank you father. I promise I’ll be a great adventurer.” (Arin)
“I know you will boy. Just make sure you come home to visit every now and again.” (Ludo)
“Of course.” (Arin)
With that exchange of goodbyes me and my companions turned our backs and set off to the town of Yarrin.
“You’ve raised a fine boy there Ludo. You think he’ll make it big?” (Guts)
“I know he will. After all he is her son.” (Ludo)
Looking at Arin walking away Ludo could almost imagine seeing his wife who was the spitting image of Arin within him.
