The Yarrin Mines
“So this is what the mines are like. Master looks like we’re in for some fun.” (Raiden)
“It’s a lot more grands then I expected.” (Arin)
Right in front of the two of us was the town of Yarrin’s mines. At the base of a large mountain were multiple entrances to the mine with some of them at ground level and others having access multiple stories high to reach. Intricate scaffolding and make shift stairs were placed to make entering the higher openings easier.
Looking around there were plenty of other adventures and Mainers coming and from the plethora of tunnels.
“It’s a good thing we were able to talk Mr. Brewster into letting us take this job. I was worried that there was no way he would budge for a moment there.” (Arin)
“Makes sense why he would agree. After you took out that rank 6++ mana stone anyone could see how strong you are. And that was from before you had me around too.” (Raiden)
Rank 6 mana stones are rare to see in the market. Add on the fact that it was a higher quality than that and it’s impressive no matter who you show it to. Although the fact that I ran into such a monster was incredibly abnormal. I doubt I’d find a beast that strong anytime soon.
“Sorry to keep you two waiting” (Liza)
Calling from behind us Liza arrives carrying a large backpack nearly twice her size, yet showed no signs of struggling with it. Her hair had been tided back into a ponytail showing off the gleam of her exposed forehead.
“Thank again for talking some sense into pops the other day. I really appreciate it Mr. Zombie.” (Liza)
“Like I said before my name is Arin! I’m not a zombie!” (Arin)
“My bad, my bad.” (Liza)
“No need to worry. I’m glad I was able to get an actual job from the guild so it works out for all of us, but why didn’t you bring any weapons with you? I know we’re suppose to be your guards but there’s know telling what could happen. I also thought you were an adventurer too.” (Arin)
“If I carried around heavy armor and weapons it would slow me down when collecting ore. There’s no need to worry about. Once we go in you’ll understand.” (Liza)
I guess that makes sense. Liza brought us along so she could focus more in collecting ore. We’ll probably be able to handle all the monster just Raiden, Pebble, and I.
“Now lets get a move on boys, there’s treasure and riches to be found.” (Liza)
Without a care in the world Liza makes her way towards the mine. Raiden and I followed soon after and the three of us made our way into one the ground level openings to the mines. Raiden took the front while me and Liza followed from behind.
The deeper we went the darker it had become. At a certain point Liza pulled out a lantern with a small translucent stone inside. After a moment of setting it up the stone began to create a decently bright light, making it easier to see ahead. It must have been a magic item.
It was my first time seeing a magic tool. I thought it would be more flashy but I guess magic tools come in all shapes and sized.
“Master I can smell something up ahead. It’s heading our way pretty fast.” (Raiden)
“Thanks for the heads up Raiden.” (Arin)
With Raiden’s warning I pulled out my Midnight Shadow dagger and drew Pebble’s card from one of my deck boxes.
“Pebble Release!” (Arin)
With that command Pebble appeared before us, instinctively taking a battle stance.
“Wait, what just happened!? Did a living golem just pop out of a card!? And a tiny one at that.” (Liza)
That’s right, I forgot I never told Liza about Pebble so of course she would be confused. But don’t pay to much attention to his size. Pebble is one tough monster.
“Don’t worry about that for now. Just focus on the situation at hand.” (Arin)
“Here they are. Get ready.” (Raiden)
Right around where the end of our light could reach we saw multiple large boulders rolling towards us at dangerous speeds.
“Rocks? Was there a rockslide up ahead or something?” (Arin)
“Those aren’t rocks. They’re monsters, and difficult ones at that.” (Liza)
“What!” (Arin)
“Master focus.” (Raiden)
“Right, sorry. Pebble block them.” (Arin)
With Pebble’s [Earth Magic] he created a stone wall. Some of the boulder monsters ended up colliding into it while half of them were able to avoid it. The ones that kept coming ended up circling behind us, cutting off our escape route.
“Clever little guys. They must have planned this.” (Arin)
The cave monsters started to unravel themselves similar to how an armadillo would. They now appeared as four legged rock beast with their legs and bodies looking like they were built out of large stones. It kind of reminded me on how Pebble looks, but more crude and intimidating.
I used my [Character Appraisal] skill on them to find out more about what these things are.

1 meter tall golem varient. It changes out the rocks on its body when it finds stronger ones to replace weaker or broken body parts. On very rare occasion the insides of these creatures contains rare ores or precious gems from what they absorb around them. Many adventurers have nicknamed this creature the “Treasure Golem.”
Honestly these things don’t look that tough, and that part in the appraisal about them sometimes having Rare ores and gems inside them means we might be able to find something special.
“Raiden you handle the ones in front of you. Liza, you and me will handle the ones that got around us.” (Arin)
“Sounds good. I’ll leave the rear to you master.” (Raiden)
“I got your back” (Liza)
Raiden rush forward, swords drawn in each hand, to take out the Geo Golems up front. That left me, Liza, and Pebble to handle the ones that cut off our escape. The three of us had to deal with six of them as they were preparing to attack.
“Pebble activate [Body Transformation].” (Arin)
On my command Pebble used his [Body Transformation] skill to turn himself into a large, stone shield attached to my arm.
The Geo Golems rolled back up into their boulder forms and began rolling at top speed at us. Most of them were aiming for Liza, probably due to her [Monster Allure] skill. While they were paying attention to her I used my stone shield to bash them out of the way. I was able to knock most of them away from us but one of them was able to stand its ground against my attack.
In my other hand I took Midnight Shadow and aimed for what I believed was its neck, only to have my blade bounce back from the impact. The Geode Golem then retreated back to avoid any further attacks.
“I guess blade weapons aren’t that effective agains rock type monsters. That throws a wrench into my plans.” (Arin)
“Of course you can’t hurt a Geo Golem with a dagger. That’s just stupid. Keep fighting like that and you’ll turn into a zombie for real.” (Liza)
Liza placed her large backpack down and began approaching the group of monsters.
“If you want to take these guys out you need to use a stronger blunt weapon.” (Liza)
Liza reached out her hand and began channeling mana into her palm.
“[Armament Materialization]” (Liza)
Liza chanted the name of her unique skill and with it a surge or mana bursted from her hand. The mana coming off her palm began to take shape and after a brief flash of light what appeared before her was a large war hammer. The blunt part of the hammer was nearly as big as Liza’s chest with a sharp tooth shaped spike coming out from behind.
“Watch and learn.” (Liza)
Liza now in a full sprint towards the Geo Golem raises her new hammer overhead and slams it down into the golem’s body, completely crushing it and creating a small crater underneath.
“So that’s the power of a unique skill huh. Holy shit.” (Arin)
