Her Name is Liza
Right in front of me was the girl to whom I had crash into me at my first time at the adventurers guild. Not only was the daughter of my fathers smithing master but also was the person that needed to be guarded in my first request from the guild.
She stood up among the mess of weapons laid about the floor.
“Sorry pops, I’ll get this mess cleaned up real quick.” (Liza)
“How many times do I have to tell you not to call me pops while we’re working. Also, properly introduce yourself.” (Brewster)
“Sorry pops… I mean father. Hello my name is Liza. Welcome to The Giants Hammer. Let me clean this up real quick.” (Liza)
Liza crouching down picks up all the weapons she can hold at once and goes about putting them back on the displays they had hung on the walls. For a girl her age she sure could carry a lot of heavy weapons at once. Without anyone noticing I use my [Character Appraisal] skill on her, seeing how strong she really is.

- She is clumsy, quick to jumping to conclusions, and tends to overestimate her own strength. Even with all her faults she is a good caring person that tends to put others feelings first. She has been sheltered most of her life which has sparked the drive to experience new things. She loves sweets such as cake with lots of cream and other fluffy deserts. She is terrified of dogs.
Her stats looked petty good compared to your run of the mill adventurer. Her abilities reminded me somewhat of the lightning fang tiger I fought before, although slightly lower. Looking at her description though made me wonder how a scatter brain like her ever become an adventurer. But unlike others I’ve met before she was the first person I’ve ever seen that has a unique skill.
As the title suggest It’s a skill that only one person in the world can use. Someone with such a skill have been known to accomplish legendary feats. And yet something so incredible was owned by this girl.
“Why don’t we go in the back and talk more about everything.” (Brewster)
Following Brewster we made our way to more open room where we could sit and talk more comfortably.
“So for the request I made to the guild I want someone to guard my daughter Liza as she mines for ore down in the mines. I would go myself, however I have to be here to manage the forge and don’t have to time to collecting ore.” (Brewster)
“I understand that part, but why are you so picky about who accepts this quest? Are the monsters in the mines really that powerful?” (Arin)
“Normally no, they can be managed well as long as you handle yourself right. The problem is with Liza herself.” (Brewster)
“A problem?” (Arin)
Looking back at Liza she didn’t seem that coordinated. I can understand a dad worrying about his daughter in a dangerous place with monsters but my appraisal showed Liza was an adventurer with decent skills. She should have the proper abilities to handle fighting on her own.
“Liza when she was born for some unknown reason had a very interesting skill. It’s called Monster Allure, and as the name suggest with that skill it draws nearby monster to the user. Not only is this a passive skill that is always on but even when we first found out she had the skill it was already at its max level. Whenever she goes large groups of monsters swarm her unrelentingly. Because of that I need strong adventurers to team up with her to help manage the constant monster attacks but someone in the lower ranks of the guild are to weak and would easily get overwhelmed and higher ranked adventurers won’t do it because we can’t pay them enough due to the danger. Even when I find someone strong enough they usually turn down the job because of the cost.” (Brewster)
That explains why he was so picky with adventurers. It’s hard to find someone to do a dangerous job when you can’t pay top dollar for it. The only other option is to find a low ranked adventurer with enough power to compensate, but that’s nearly impossible to find. Well, maybe except for us.
“Something doesn’t make sense though. Why is it that you need Liza herself to go anyway? Couldn’t you just hire someone to mine the ore by themselves and bring it back here?” (Raiden)
“Now that you mention it, yeah why is that.” (Arin)
“It’s true we could always do that. Right now I do have people collecting ore for me through the guild, but the reason I need Liza to go to the mine is because of her soul card’s acquisition condition.” (Brewster)
Her acquisition condition huh. With my soul card the more monsters I defeat the more soul cards I can acquire, but I guess that’s not the same for Liza.
“What kind of conditions does she have?” (Arin)
“Like you already know when someone wants to acquire more copies of their soul card they must complete certain actions to gain experience. In Liza’s case she has two condition. One is by defeating monsters in battle but that method takes longer for her to acquire a new card. The second way is by collecting ore and other crafting materials. The rarer the stuff she digs up the more experience she gets.” (Brewster)
“I get it now. This whole quest is about helping your daughter grow and gain a better understanding about her soul card while also making her a stronger adventurer.” (Arin)
I guess this is the real reason why no has done this quest so far. With having to mine ore herself and having to deal with huge swarms of monsters I can see why Brewster would be cautious when finding people for this job.
“And it’s because of those reason why I don’t think I can let you accept this job. Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.” (Brewster)
“That’s not fair father! If we don’t find anyone I’ll never get to go.” (Liza)
As we were talking Liza had finally showed up from cleaning the mess she made and now looked like she was pissed off with.
“I understand you’re upset but you’re not strong enough to handle swarms of monsters, especially the ones in mines. It’s basically a maze down there with limited room to more in. If you get cornered you’d be killed. Don’t underestimate monsters when they team up together against you.” (Brewster)
“I can handle a few monsters on my own. I don’t need to rely on anyone.” (Liza)
“Haven’t you been listening to anything I’ve been saying you idiot daughter! Going alone is a death sentence for you!” (Brewster)
Brewster slammed his fist on top of Liza’s head leaving a big red bump. Trying to act tough Liza glared back at her father while holding back her tears.
“Well master what are you thinking? Honestly if taking this job means fighting huge horns of monsters I’m actually getting pretty excited. I wonder what kinds of battles I could have with them.” (Raiden)
Raiden as the true battle junkie that he is was more than eager to face such a dangerous quest.
Looking at our party Raiden makes for a good attacker, and Pebble can handle support really well with his magic and Body Transformation skill. I’m probably the weakest one out of our group but since I was able to defeat the thunder fang tiger I should be strong enough to manage whatever the mines had to offer.
“Guess that’s how it is then.” (Arin)
I stood up and got in-between Brewster and Liza with a determined look in my eyes.
“Mr. Brewster, please let me take on this job for you. I promise we’ll keep Liza safe.” (Arin)
If I wanted to be an adventurer like I always dreamed about I couldn’t let this over protective father stop me. My first job after joining the guild will be guarding Liza in the mines. Whether he likes it or not I’m going to complete this quest and take my first step as a true adventurer.
