Day One of Being an Adventurer

“Um… excuse me… could you, ya know… um…” (Arin)

The thought in my head were completely a mess from the situation. Out of all the things I expected when coming to the adventurers guild being hit by a flying girl was not one of them.

“Can you… get off please?” (Arin)

The girl not listening got up in a panic. Her hands holding her head as she tried to process the situation.

“What do I do? Hide the body? No that’ll never work? This is all my fault!” (Young Girl)

“What the hell are you talking about I’m not dead!” (Arin)

“AHHHHH A ZOMBIE!!!!” (Young Girl)

Suddenly the girl strikes my chest with her fist on reflex. The air in my chest escapes me making it hard to breath, but I eventually caught my breath again.

“What the hell! What is wrong with you!”

The girl seemed like an air head, letting her thought run wild. She eventually calmed down and regained her composure, but only after I convinced her I was alright.

“I’m sorry about everything that just happened. This is all my fault.” (Young Girl)

“It’s fine, it’s fine. I understand it was an accident. No need to worry. Anyways are you okay? Why were you flying out the the guild building?” (Arin)

“Oh no I almost forgot.” (Young Girl)

The girl tidied herself up and ran right back into the adventurers guild.

“Those dumb bastards are going to pay for treating me like a piece of trash!” (Young Girl)

The girl run right past Raiden and enters the adventurers guild. In just a few short moments she is again thrown right out the front door, landing out into the road with her face in the ground. The girl raises her face from the ground tears can be seen building up in her eyes as she is holding back the urge to cry. She then gets back on her feet and begins running away from the guild.

“You dumb brutes! I’ll be back you hear!” (Young Girl)

I was never that good with understanding girls but even I knew that this was weird. Raiden came down to my side after the whole scene had taken place.

“Master are you alright?” (Raiden)

“I’m fine. Just a little confused.” (Arin)

“You’re telling me. I’ve never seen a female so strange in all my life.” (Raiden)

“That’s strange hearing it from you considering you’re only a month old.” (Arin)

“Haha, so true master.” (Raiden)

The way I encountered this girl was very unusual. I wondered why someone like here was at the adventurers guild, and more importantly why she was thrown from the building multiple times. Everything was so confusing it was starting to hurt just to think about it. For the meantime I decided to not think about it for now and go back to getting registered with the adventurers guild.

Me and Raiden made our way back up the front steps and went through the front door where the weird girl was thrown from before. Through the door there were many people clad in a multitude of different armor and weaponry. Most of them were sitting down at tables enjoying a meal with one another, others were standing around a wall covered in posters listing various jobs and tasks. At the other end of the room were multiple counters with what looked like guild employees assigning each work to those available. As we walked though the crowd of people we made our way to one of the many guild receptionist at their work desk.

“Welcome to Yarrin’s adventurers guild. What can I help you with today?” (Guild Receptionist)

“Hi there. Me and my friend here are interested in registering as adventurers.” (Arin)

“Very well. If you’ll just give a moment here.” (Guild Receptionist)

The guild worker pulled out two forms and handed them both to me and Raiden. What was on them were questions about who we were and what we specialized in.

“Please fill out these forms to the best of your ability. We will then move on to an explanation on the guilds rules.” (Guild Receptionist)

It was mostly simple information so I breezed though everything. Raiden seemed like he was having trouble with something though.

“Raiden what’s wrong?” (Arin)

Raiden leans in close and whispers into my ear.

“I’m terribly sorry master but I don’t understand a word of this.” (Raiden)

“Wait you what?” (Arin)

I guess Raiden was born only a few weeks ago. We’ve been training so much that I guess I never realized he was illiterate.

“I’ll fill this out for you then. No worries. And remember not to call me master when in public remember.” (Arin)

“Right so sorry ma… I mean Arin.” (Raiden)

With that I filled out the registration for the both of us and handed it back to the receptionist. In a short time after that she handed us both adventurer guild cards.

“Thank you very much, you have now been recognized as G rank adventurers. Your guild cards have a special magic the recorded what quest you have completed and once you have completed a certain number of quest you will be eligible to raise your rank. The higher your rank the more dangerous the job you can do. G rank is the lowest rank given to new adventurers and the highest is S rank. Please work hard to improve your rank.” (Guild Receptionist)

I was finally an official adventure now. After waiting for this moment for so long the joy from getting my guild card was shown from the look of my face. Now that I’m a real adventurer there was no telling what would happen next. And that thought excited me.

“Oh before I forget we actually encountered some bandits on our way here and we have their heads as proof. Can we claim their bounties with you?” (Arin)

“You have their heads!? Well let me see them for a moment but if they are in card form please keep them that way.” (Guild Receptionist)

“Understood. Here you go.” (Arin)

I handed all the cards containing the bandits heads to the receptionist. She examined the cards very thoroughly. Her expression was very stern as she looked over the information of each bandit card.

“There is no question these are the bandits that have been making a name for themselves in the past could of months. Not only that you appear to have defeated their leader too. This is pretty unprecedented as a newly appointed adventurer. Unfortunately the underlings do not have any bounties but it appears that their leader has a bounty of 220 silver. If you will wait one moment I will get that for you.” (Guild Receptionist)

“220 Silver!” (Arin)

With much money I could live care free for half a year. It was more money then I have ever seen before.

The receptionist in that moment pulls out a pile of silver coins staked together and hands it over to me.

“Congratulations. With this if you do a couple more guild request you should be able to raise both your ranks very soon.” (Guild Receptionist)

“Thank you very much.” (Arin)

I turn the pile of money into a card and store it into one of my deck boxes. Raiden was mostly standing around during the whole transaction with a bored expression but as we were finishing up his mood seemed to improve.

“Well now that all the boring stuff is done can we finally grab some food. I’m so hungry I don’t know how long I’ll last.” (Raiden)

“Yeah I guess we should find somewhere to eat and rest now.” (Arin)

“In that case I recommend you look at the Mithra Inn. Their prices are good for the average adventurer to afford and it comes with meals included.” (Guild Receptionist)

“That sounds great. Thanks again.” (Arin)

“Of course. It’s located a few blocks west of the guild so you shouldn’t miss it.” (Guild Receptionist)

“Excellent. Lets head their now” (Raiden)

“Hey Raiden, hang on for a second…” (Arin)

I head out of the guild, chasing after Raiden, as we head over to the nearby inn. With all the money we just made we had more then enough to fill our bellies. Today we should probably enjoy ourselves, because starting tomorrow we would start our new jobs as G rank adventurers.
