The Town of Yarrin

Since the run in with the bandits the trip to Yarrin was surprisingly uneventful. There would be the occasional monster we would run into but it was nothing new or challenging to say the least. A couple of days had gone by and we were beginning to pass by others traveling the opposite way. As we were seeing more and more people a large stone wall could be seen in the distance. Atop a small hill the three of us were able to see the entirety of the town of Yarrin.

There looked to be three large stone walls circling the town, with one being the exterior wall and the other two seemed to close off certain areas in the town. Half of the town looked to be on top of a nearby mountain with some of the buildings looking like they were hanging off it. Just outside the most outer wall looked to have a long river that was flowing from high up in the mountains, leading to a large lake.

The landscape before me was unlike anything I had seen before. The village I grew up in was deep in the forest, surrounded by a sea of trees. It was a very confined place to live. Here however was nothing but open lands and mountains with more space than you could possibly imagine.

“Alright, before we get to close to town I think you two should go back to your card forms. It should be cheaper to pay the entry toll if it’s just me.” (Arin)

“I understand your reasoning but my card form is way to cramped if I’m being honest.” (Raiden)

“Just deal with it for now and I’ll treat you to something tasty once we get in.” (Arin)

“Oh ho! I like the sound of that. I will excuse myself then for now master.” (Raiden)

Raiden then changed back into a his card form and added himself to one of the deck boxes around my belt. Pebble did the same with no arguing. Pebble didn’t seem to care going in and out of card form that much. I guess golems are just accommodating creatures.

With both Raiden and Pebble safely in my deck boxes I approach the town entrance and got in the line of people waiting to get in. The time I had to stand in line went by fairly quickly and it was now my turn to enter. Standing at the town gate was a young looking soldier checking everyone that wished to enter.

“Please present your identification.” (Guard)

“Um I actually just arrived from a village west of here near the kingdoms border. I don’t have and any identification yet.” (Arin)

“That’s alright. If you don’t have any identification then you can get a temporary one here at the gate. Walk over to that door to the side and someone inside will be able to help.” (Guard)

“Thank you very much.” (Arin)

Listening to the soldiers words I walked over to the door and entered. On the other side was a small room with another soldier sitting at a table. He looked fairly older then the other soldier, and more experienced.

“Excuse me, I’m here to get a temporary Identification.” (Arin)

“Alright then boy come sit over here and we’ll get you settled.” (Veteran Guard)

The older soldier gestured for me to come closer where I then sit down right in front of him. From under the table the soldier pulls out a translucent plate with rune like writing around the edges of it.

“Please place your hand here for a moment.” (Veteran Guard)

Listening to what he says I place my right hand of the clear plate and as I do a faint blue light shimmers from it.

“Good it’s blue. This means you have no criminal record. With this you can now receive a temporary pass. These passes cost two silver and last you for a week. If you want to extend it you have to pay another silver each week. I recommend you find a guild in town to join. There you can get an official identification and no longer have to pay a toll when going in and out of town.” (Veteran Guard)

“Alright then. Thank you for all the help.” (Arin)

“No worries kid. Also if you’re caught with an expired temporary ID then you have to pay a fine of five silver, and if you can’t pay you will work your debt off as a work slave.” (Veteran Guard)

“Good to know thank you.” (Arin)

Knowing that I should probably find the adventurers guild as soon as possible and get a permanent ID.

“Oh by the way on my way here I came across a couple of bandits. Do you know where I can claim the bounties?” (Arin)

“Wait bandits! You must be pretty strong to be able to handle that all by yourself.” (Veteran Guard)

Well I did have a lot of help from Raiden and Pebble but I probably shouldn’t mention that.

“If you head to the adventurers guild they can help you see if any of the bandits you slayed have existing bounties. You can also receive the rewards for those bounties there. Although if you hear about any more bandits in the area please notify either the adventures guild or the town guard.” (Veteran Guard)

“Dually noted. Thank you for the help.” (Arin)

After going through all of that I had finally made my way inside Yarrin. The houses looked much bigger then in the village and the stone roads looked like they stretched for miles. The biggest thing I notice however was a huge amount of people that were walking around. I had never seen so many people in the same place before, each looking much more unique then the last.

I decided the first place I should go to in the adventurers guild and get properly registered. But before that I had to find a private area to let Raiden out. Even though Pebble was small he was still a monster so I held out on bringing him out for the time being. I snuck away into a non-populated ally and when no one was looking released Raiden from him card form.

“Man it’s about time master. That took way longer then expected. I still feel a little stiff from being all cooped up.” (Raiden)

“Well at least we’re inside the town. And I promised I’d treat you later so look forward to that.” (Arin)

“Now we’re talking. So where should we grab lunch?” (Raiden)

“Hold off on that for a little while longer. We need to get registered at the guild first. The sooner the better.” (Arin)

Raiden’s head dropped in disappointment.

“I’m sure there’ll be a place to eat around the guild so hang tight for just a bit.” (Arin)

“I understand.” (Raiden)

Raiden still sounded a little depressed. He was acting a lot like a kid that didn’t get what he wanted. Well I did create him a few months ago so he’s technically a kid but that didn’t mean he had to act that way.

So as the two of us made our way through the town, passing by multiple shops, we eventually were standing before the town of Yarrin’s adventurers guild building. Unlike every other building in town this one was made completely of stone with dozens of pillars right by the entrance and a stair case leading to the front door. The sight was a little intimidating but also exciting.

“This is it Raiden. This is were the story of us as adventurers begins.” (Arin)

“Yes master. It’s quite thrilling. (Raiden)

“Alright then. Let do this.” (Arin)

I reach out to grab the front door’s handle and the moment I opened the door I was suddenly hit in the face. Although it was soft it was also big and bouncy. Then I realized in the brief second of impact that my face was struck by a women’s butt. The impact sent me stumbling backwards with the other person, who’s butt hit me, both falling down the front staircase, with our bodies tangled up. We both ended up in the middle of the road. My head was spinning from the sudden tumble.

“Master are you alright!” (Raiden)

As I regained my composure I then saw the person who suddenly collided with me. It was a young looking girl with blonde hair tied back into a pony tail. She wore regular clothes but had on metal arm guards and a small metal chest plate. She appeared slightly younger then me but her chest and butt were very defined.

She was starting to regain her composure.

“Damn those jerks. Don’t they know how to treat a lady. Wait a minute what are you….” (Young Girl)

The girl looked down at me. Noticing now that she was sitting on top of my chest her face became flushed with red. Soon my face began to blush as well while still being confused about the situation.

“Um… what?” (Arin)
