English translation
As we approached the station where we were supposed to get off, I turned toward Rinne out of curiosity about what she was writing or drawing.
“What are you looking at, extra? It’s none of your business!”
Looking closely, I realized they were drawings... but not just any drawings. She had drawn me with an oversized head—what she referred to as a 'chibi' style.
“What on earth am I witnessing? This lacks any physical or biological explanation. How is it possible for a human being to have such an enlarged head? It’s an insult to my image.”
Rinne turned bright red and tried to hide her notebook.
“Hey, you weren't supposed to look! Besides... look on the bright side, you look way better like this!”
Rumimina leaned over and spotted her own chibi version.
“Wow, Rinne, you draw really well! Could you teach me someday?”
“See, Orlando? She actually understands what real art is!”
(Art? When she used my likeness without my consent? Well, I suppose I do owe her one, so it’s best not to argue.)
Just then, an announcement echoed through the car: 'We will soon arrive at the next station.'
“Looks like we’re almost there. Quite unusual for them to refrain from giving pretentious names to their machinery.”
The doors opened and we stood up from our seats. As expected, Rinne raised her voice with her usual flair.
“Alright, move it! I’m not staying here just because you two are slow!”
Rumimina grabbed my arm, and we walked out together onto the platform. The station was very orderly and considerably busier than the previous one, though not overwhelmingly so.
“Orlando, I loved that moving metal box! When can we ride it again?”
(She gets amazed by everything... though I’m more than willing to explain the mechanics to her.)
“Rumimina, have you seen Rinne? She was walking right behind us, wasn't she?”
“No, I haven't seen her.”
I turned around and saw Rinne swallowed up by the crowd.
“Hey, don't leave me behind!”
(Great, another problem... what now?)
I walked over, grabbed Rinne by the hand, and pulled her out with all my strength.
“Phew, that was close...”
“T-Thanks... I mean, it wasn't even a big deal!”
(I wonder if they sell microcontrollers at a good price around here?)
“Phew, the train arc has officially come to an end!”
(Train arc? Is she trying to recreate every single arc she sees in her manga and anime?)
Shifting my thoughts back, I stared at Rinne.
“Alright, where to next, Rinne?”
“Umm... it’s this way. ...No, wait, it’s that way.”
At that moment, a synthetic voice rang out from her device: 'TURN RIGHT IN 300 METERS.'
“Hey, are you relying on a map? I thought you already knew where we were going.”
“H-Hey! I was just double-checking that we were heading in the right direction!”
Hearing the voice, Rumimina leaned in curiously.
“Orlando, look! There are little tiny people inside that device!”
“Well, you see, Rumimina—”
We walked out of the station and entered a slightly more modern part of the city.
(Let's see... once we finish eating with Rinne, I’ll search for cheap spare parts. My open-source software hasn't been receiving many donations lately, after all.)
A specimen who looked like a depressed bulldog walked up to us and extended a flyer.
“Hey, take this ad... I don't get paid enough for this.”
(Well, at least I have more paper for my calculations.)
Rinne snatched it abruptly.
“Hmm, thank you, background character! We accept your side quest!”
The guy walked off, and Rinne turned around, shoving the paper straight into one of my pockets.
“Meh, whatever. Take this, Orlando, and go do something interesting.”
Rumimina came closer, and together we read it over.
“Let’s see... junk ad, another junk ad... wait a minute...”
Scanning through, I spotted announcements for scientific conferences and lectures.
And... right beside them, an ad announcing Ludovica's new career as an actress.
“Orlando, look! It’s Ludovica! Looks like she’s going to be in a movie, hehe.”
“Hahaha! That stubborn fool has fallen even lower than I imagined! She really outdid herself, haha. In the end, she was nothing more than a spoiled brat. I bet she’s already whining to the directors about everything.”
Rinne walked back over to us and caught me laughing.
“Hey, who are you laughing at? It better not be me!”
“No, I’m not laughing at you. I just saw that the film industry bought out an airhead, that’s all. But forget it, it’s not important.”
“Hmph... You got lucky, or you would've been the target of my special attack!”
“Come on, Rinne, that’s an exceptionally tsundere attitude.”
“I am NOT a tsundere! It’s not like I like you or anything! This is just part of the script where I am clearly the most important main character!”
(My analysis was spot on.)
We walked for a while through various streets and shops, with me explaining what each thing was to Rumimina in simple terms.
Rumimina pointed at a screen with a smile, showing a game advertisement.
“Look, Orlando! A dragon is flying inside that magic screen! Just like the ones back in my world!”
(Dragons existed in her world? That’s scientifically impossible...)
Rinne stepped up next to Rumimina and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Rumimina, dragons are totally real. That stubborn guy just doesn't know how to accept reality.”
“Alright, we’ve reached our destination!” Rinne declared, striking her usual pose.
We entered the restaurant, where the waitress greeted us and showed us to a table.
Once seated, Rinne looked across at us.
“So, what are you guys ordering?”
“I'll take the cheapest soup on the menu,” I replied.
Rumimina looked at Rinne with bright, excited eyes.
“I want to try that thing called 'Spicy Ramen'!”
