第13章：謎めいた出会い
「はあ、今度は何なんだ、こいつらは」
全身黒ずくめのふたり組で、ひとりは顔のほとんどを覆う帽子をかぶっており、こちらへ近づいてきた。
「金髪の少女を渡せば、誰も傷つかずに済む」
俺は困惑していたし、冗談にしか思えなかった。
「ハハハハ！ なんだよ、ディスカウントショップから抜け出してきた悪役か？ 正直に言えよ、ルドヴィカに雇われたのか？ やらないと悲鳴を聞かせるぞって脅されたのか？」
「な、何を言っていやがるガキが！ 歯を折ってからその女を連れてく。もうひとりの女は……どうしてやろうかな、ヒヒッ」
「おいおい、演技にしてはやりすぎだろ。マジで誰に送られてきたんだ？」
リンネはそれを聞いて拳を強く握りしめ、ルミミナは俺の後ろに隠れていた。
「な、なんなのあいつら！？ ヒロインに向かって何を言ってるの！？」
「オルランド、ちょっと怖いよ……ふふ」
男はニヤリと笑った。
「どうやら分かっていないようだな……協力する気はないらしい」
「分かってないのはお前だろ。言ってる事が本気なら、手際が悪くて惨めな奴だな」
男が手をかざすと、そこから数学とは程遠い記号の描かれた魔法陣が形成された。あの時ルミミナが放とうとしていたものによく似ている。もうひとりの男はゲームセンターの扉を閉め始めていた。
「俺たちは教団の者だ、愚か者め。まずはお前を殺し、それからここにいる者全員を殺す。楽しませてもらうぞ。それに交渉しろなんて一言も言われてないからな」
俺は青いパーカーから『アセンディング・エレクトリック・ヴォルツ』を取り出し、起動させ始めた。
「お前もその『魔法の世界』とかいう場所から来たのか？ 宇宙の物理法則を無視するただのパーティースペシャリストかよ。マジで魔法は嫌いだ」
男の手の魔法陣がさらに強く輝いた。
「『ゲイル・オブ・ア・ハンドレッド・ウィンターズ』！」
フウウウウウウウウッ！
俺は吹っ飛ばされ、ぬいぐるみ機に激突した。足元が少し凍りついている。
（また質量保存の法則を破りやがった……もう驚くべきじゃないな）
人々は逃げ惑い始めたが、扉は閉ざされ、外部との通信も完全に遮断されていた。
リンネは固まり、呼吸を荒くしていた。一方、ルミミナは目に涙を浮かべて俺の方へと走ってきた。
男が近づいてくる。
「無様だな。この世界の人間は初歩的な魔法ひとつで簡単に倒れる。ただの蟻んこどもめ」
「なんだと？ たかがサーカスの手品で俺を止められると思ってんのか？」
男は再び手をかざした。
「『ゲイル・オブ・ア・ハンドレッド・ウィンターズ』！」
ドカーーーン、バリリーン！
ゲーム機のガラスが砕け散った。
（くそっ、ここから脱出しないと！）
ルミミナが声を詰まらせながら俺に飛びついてきた。
「オルランド！」
俺は素早い動きでグローブの周波数を調整し、足元に向けた。
バチチチチチッ！
放電が瞬時に氷を粉砕した。それだけでなく、急速な昇華のおかげで一瞬で解放され、男が反応する前に弾き出されるように突進した。
「なっ……あり得ん！」
「オームの法則を教えてやる時間だ！」
グローブで強化した拳をぶち込んだ。容赦のない一撃。凄まじい速度と威力で男の頬骨を撃ち抜いた。
バチチチチチッ！
男は吹き飛び、何台ものエアホッケー台に激突した。その服からは煙とスパークが上がっていた。
ふたり目の男はそれを見て、オーラを纏ったような短剣を取り出し、俺とルミミナに向かって近づき始めた。
「切り刻んでやる、へラへラしやがって！」
身構えたその時、劇的な声が響いた。
「彼らに近付くな、三流のモブが！」
リンネがゲーム機の上からジャンプし、空中回転を決めて俺たちとふたり目の男の間に割り込んだ。
「ゲーセン編のクライマックスを邪魔する気？」
リンネが構えをとると、男は叫んだ。
「どけ、ガキ――」
リンネは男に最後まで喋らせず、頭部へダイレクトにキックを叩き込んで吹き飛ばした。ルミミナが手をかざす。
「友達を傷つけさせない！」
ルミミナは小さな衝撃波を作り出し、立ち直ろうとしていた男の武器を解除した。そして俺の手を取り、傷を癒す魔法を使ってくれた。ほぼ一瞬で気分が良くなった。
「ありがとう、ルミミナ」
「お礼なんていいよ」
彼女は俺に抱きつき、目に涙を浮かべながら強く抱きしめてきた。
「何かあったらどうしようと思ってすごく悲しかった……もう二度と危険なことはしないでって言って」
ルミミナはその後リンネにも近づき、同じように抱きしめた

"Sigh... what do these guys want now?"
The two men were dressed entirely in black, and one of them, wearing a hat that covered most of his face, approached us.
"Hand over the blonde girl, and no one gets hurt."
I was confused and honestly thought it was a joke.
"Hahahaha! What's this, are you villains who just escaped from a discount store? Seriously, did Ludovica hire you? Did she threaten to make you listen to her screams if you didn't do it?"
"Wh-what are you talking about, you damn brat?! I'm gonna break your teeth, then I'm taking that girl. As for the other one... I don't know what I'll do to her, hehe."
"Hey, hey, that's a bit too much for just acting. Seriously, who sent you?"
Rinne clenched her fists when she heard that, while Rumimina hid behind me.
"What is wrong with those guys?! What are they saying to the heroine?!"
"Orlando, I'm a little scared... hehe."
The man smirked.
"It seems you don't understand the situation... You have no intention of cooperating."
"The one who doesn't understand is you. If you're being serious, you're just an inefficient, pathetic guy."
The man raised his hand, and a magic circle formed from it, filled with symbols far removed from mathematics—very similar to the one Rumimina had tried to cast back then. The other guy had already started closing the arcade doors.
"We are members of the Cult, you fool. First, we're going to kill you, and then everyone else in here. We're going to have fun with this. Besides, nobody ever told us we had to negotiate."
I pulled my Ascending Electric Volts from my blue hoodie and began activating it.
"Did you come from that so-called 'magical world' too? Or are you just another party trickster breaking the physical laws of the universe? I seriously hate magic."
The circle on the man's hand glowed even brighter.
"Gale of a Hundred Winters!"
WHOOOOOOSH!
I was blown back and crashed into a claw machine. My feet were slightly frozen.
(It broke the law of conservation of mass again... I shouldn't even be surprised anymore).
People began running around in panic, but the doors were closed and all outside communication was completely cut off.
Rinne froze, her breathing getting heavy. On the other hand, Rumimina ran toward me with tears in her eyes.
The man approached me.
"How pathetic. The humans of this world fall so easily to a basic spell. Just a bunch of little ants."
"What did you say? You think a simple circus trick is going to stop me?"
The man raised his hand again.
"Gale of a Hundred Winters!"
BOOM! CRASH!
The glass of the arcade machine shattered into pieces.
(Damn it, we need to get out of here!)
Rumimina lunged at me, her voice trembling.
"ORLANDO!"
With a swift movement, I adjusted the frequency of my gauntlet and pointed it at my feet.
BZZZZZZT!
The discharge fractured the ice instantly. Thanks to the rapid sublimation, I was freed in a second and shot forward like a projectile before the man could react.
"What?! Impossible!"
"It's time I teach you Ohm's Law!"
I delivered a brutal punch powered by the gauntlet. An unforgiving strike. I smashed through his cheekbone with tremendous speed and force.
BZZZZZZT!
The man went flying and crashed into several air hockey tables, smoke and sparks rising from his clothes.
Seeing this, the second man drew a dagger that seemed to emit an aura and started approaching Rumimina and me.
"I'm gonna slice you up, you laughing idiots!"
Just as I got into a fighting stance, a dramatic voice echoed out.
"Get away from them, you third-rate mob!"
Rinne jumped off an arcade machine, executed a somersault in mid-air, and landed right between us and the second guy.
"Are you trying to ruin the climax of the Arcade Arc?!"
Rinne took her stance, and the guy shouted:
"Get out of the way, you brat—"
Rinne didn't even let him finish; she landed a kick straight to his head that sent him flying. Rumimina extended her hand.
"I won't let you hurt my friends!"
Rumimina created a small shockwave, disarming the guy as he tried to recover. Then she took my hand and used a healing spell on me. I felt better almost instantly.
"Thank you, Rumimina."
"You don't have to thank me!"
She threw her arms around me, hugging me tightly with tears welling in her eyes.
"I was so scared something bad was going to happen to you... Promise me you won't do anything dangerous like that again!"
Rumimina then approached Rinne and hugged her just as tightly.
