An Autumn Evening: An Invitation to Dinner Quiet Gothic Suspense | JP & EN

An Autumn Evening: An Invitation to Dinner
I pierce the small piece of meat on my plate with my fork. The knife slips smoothly into it.
How did he know that fillet was the only cut of meat I could eat?
His voice had the resonance of the lowest note of a stringed instrument. Having eaten the meat, I could feel my stomach tremble at the sound.
The candle flame was reflected in the window. Its flickering seemed almost like the heart of someone unseen.
Inspired by the paintings of Bronzino and related works.
