wil benefit more from remaining with your individual understandings, and when you

are surrounded by higher consciousness that you receive greater benefit from surrender.

*Conversations with God* teaches that one of the most important choices we make in life is **the people with whom we choose to walk.**

There is an old proverb that says, *"A person is known by the company they keep."* The people around us inevitably influence the way we think, the values we adopt, and the direction our lives take.

Each person lives according to a particular set of values, and those values reflect that person's level of consciousness. For example, someone who places the highest value on wealth naturally views life through a money-centered perspective. Others may place greater value on love, service, wisdom, or spiritual growth.

According to *Conversations with God*, if we sincerely wish to grow, we should seek the company of people whose consciousness is more expanded than our own. Their example, attitudes, and way of living naturally inspire us to become a better version of ourselves.

On the other hand, when we find ourselves surrounded by people whose values are less life-affirming or less compassionate than our own, the book advises us not to abandon our convictions simply to fit in. In such circumstances, it is wiser to remain true to our own understanding rather than surrender to the influence of the group.

From this perspective, personal growth is shaped not only by the choices we make, but also by the companions we choose. The people who walk beside us often have a profound influence on the person we eventually become.
