In everyday language, we often use the words **"strength"** and **"power"** as if they mean the same thing. According to *Conversations with God*, however, they are fundamentally different.
The book explains that **strength** refers to an inner, spiritual quality, while **power** refers to the ability to influence or act in the external world.
True power is born from inner strength. Without a solid inner foundation, power is merely an illusion. Power that is not grounded in wisdom, compassion, and integrity can easily become domination or even violence.
*Conversations with God* goes one step further by teaching that genuine inner strength arises from **unity**—the awareness that we are connected with one another and with God. Strength does not grow out of separation, isolation, or the desire to stand above others. It grows from recognizing our oneness with all life.
Yet many people mistakenly believe that being independent, needing no one, or accomplishing everything alone is a sign of strength. *Conversations with God* challenges this belief. It suggests that authentic strength is not found in separation but in relationship, cooperation, and love.
From this perspective, the strongest person is not the one who possesses the greatest power over others, but the one whose inner life is firmly rooted in unity, compassion, and spiritual awareness. Such inner strength naturally expresses itself as a positive and life-affirming power in the world.
