Are You A Hero?

There are two main race factions in the world of RODEM: Mankind and Monsters. Both are civilized races. Mankind inhabits the southern lands, while the Monsters rule the northern lands.

Legends say that God once created a barrier at the center of the world. It is prophesied that one day this barrier will break, and when it does, a war between the two races will begin. Only one race shall survive—the other will be destroyed, or the world itself will fall into chaos. This prophecy is recorded in both civilizations.

Eventually, the prophecy came true. The barrier broke, and war erupted.

Mankind was defeated. However, the strongest sorcerers of humanity, along with six Heroes from six different kingdoms, cast a powerful barrier spell to prevent total annihilation.

After the war, humanity was reduced to only 10% of the world, while Monsters expanded to 90%.

A thousand years passed. The original Heroes died, but the barrier remained. Fifteen generations of Heroes have since come and gone.

Now, the Empire Academy selects six new Heroes—the strongest users of the six elements: Fire, Water, Electromagnetic, Earth, Wind, and Gravity.

Each Hero is assigned a Sidekick from one of the six kingdoms, along with five elite warriors. These Sidekicks and warriors can be any age—students or graduates—but they are the strongest individuals in their kingdoms.

The Empire Council’s mission is clear: send the six Hero teams beyond the barrier to reclaim the lost world.

Outside the barrier, the Monster Kingdom is ruled by ancient forces, including the Five Calamities, beings with over 2,000 years of combat knowledge, and the Monster Guardians.

Monster Guardians are beings as strong as Calamities in raw power, but they serve as second-in-command rulers. Each Guardian protects a vast region of Monster territory, where kingdoms of Monsters and captured mankind settlements exist—lands taken during the great war.

CHAPTER 1

First Expedition

During the first expedition, all six Hero teams face a single opponent: the Second Calamity.

The battle is brutal.

The Heroes and warriors fight well and resist strongly. It is not a one-sided massacre—they coordinate, adapt, and even pressure the Calamity at moments.

However, the Calamity holds 2,000 years of war knowledge, terrain awareness, and tactical superiority. This gives him a decisive advantage. The expedition forces are slowly overwhelmed due to lack of battlefield knowledge and experience.

One Hero attempts a solo fight, claiming he can win 1v1, He rushed to rescue the other teams but is pushed to the brink of death and recalled back to the Empire by the teleportation spell.

Sidekick Intervention

In one critical battlefield, the situation collapses.

The Sidekick finally steps in.

He is 19 years old. Calm, silent, expressionless. He carries sword.

With pure speed, skill, and precision, he engages the Second Calamity. The fight is intense and balanced, not one-sided. Even the Calamity recognizes something abnormal in him.

In the end, the Sidekick defeats the Second Calamity—but does not kill him. The Calamity retreats instead, acknowledging defeat.

After this, the Sidekick withdraws. He only fights when absolutely necessary.

Monster Domain – Guardian Conflict

Even without their Hero, the expedition(Yugi Kingdom) continues deeper into Monster territory.

They discover a demi-human kingdom—descendants of mankind captured during the great war. They once believed themselves to be monsters, but the truth is revealed, and they begin to return to mankind’s identity.

The five warriors secure the kingdom after intense battles. They are extremely strong in physical ability, skill, and magic, and manage to overpower enemy forces despite heavy resistance.

However in the fifth day after they reclaim the Kingdom, a greater threat arrives.

The Monster Guardian of the region appears.

He is as strong as a Calamity but serves as second-in-command of Monster territory. Each Guardian controls a region containing both Monster kingdoms and captured mankind settlements.

He arrives with his strongest subordinates to reclaim the region.

The kingdom warriors and expedition forces sense his overwhelming aura and move outside the walls to confront him.

A massive battle begins.

The kingdom warriors are forced back but survive. The five warriors continue fighting, holding their ground despite slowly losing.

At the brink of death, the recall spell fails completely. The Empire Council inside the mankind Kingdom was shocked and panicked. The recall spell can only hold certain power. For the first time, there is no escape.

Hero Returns

Just as everything collapses, a fire blast cuts through the sky.

Their Hero, Jorem, returns after five days of training.

Hope rises again.

The second phase of war begins: Hero and five warriors vs Monster Guardian and subordinates, while Calamities still exist beyond the battlefield.

The City Incident

Inside the demi-human city, chaos suddenly breaks out.

A stray fireball from the battlefield flies toward the city.

The citizens panic as it falls from the sky.

But before it hits, the fireball is obliterated mid-air by a single sword slash.

The destruction is erased instantly, leaving only a small shockwave that slightly damages the surroundings.

Silence falls.

On the ground stands the Sidekick.

Calm. Expressionless.

A demi-human girl looks at him and asks softly:

“Are you a Hero?”

He does not answer.

He simply stands there, sword still in hand, as the battle continues far beyond the walls.

There are 15 generations of heroes since the great war and Hero foundation.
