Amusement Park
Rika felt a gentle nudge. Not long before, she had been dreaming.
“Hey.”
She had only just become aware of her surroundings, and felt a tickle on her nose.
Rika opened her bright blue eyes that reflected the morning light with purple hues.
“Good morning.”
She saw a wave of raven hair and Yuki’s face hovering over her. She sleepily stretches her arms and yawned.
“Good morning.”
She spoke the words through a yawn.
Yuki laid next to her, her head propped up on her hand.
“You’re really cute in the morning you know.”
Rika smiled and threw her arms around Yuki, pulling her in so she was laying on top of her.
“Do you have to wake me up?”
Yuki giggled.
“I’m sorry, I get bored in the morning.”
Rika tucked a stray lock behind Yuki’s ear. She took a moment to commit the moment to memory.
Yuki noticed Rika was quietly staring at her as she stroked her hair.
“What is it?”
Rika shook her head a little, snapping out of her enchantment.
“This is... An amazing way to wake up.”
Yuki kissed her softly.
“Anytime.”
Yuki laid her head next to Rika’s. She could feel the tickle of her nose on her cheek and hear her soft breathing.
“What happened to waking up?”
Yuki’s hand caressed her cheek.
“Also Let’s just stay like this for a bit.”
Yuki intertwined her legs with Rika’s, her skin was flawlessly smooth.
Rika lowered her voice to a whisper.
“Alright, but we are going to the amusement park today.”
She could feel the slow rhythm of Yuki’s heartbeat, her body completely relaxed against hers. Her hair felt like threads of silk as they fell on her neck.
“I know. Just a bit though.”
Rika silently nodded and closed her eyes.
/She’s so unbelievably cute!/
Rika tried her best to control her excitement, she didn’t want Yuki to feel her heart racing and disturb her relaxing.
/Keep it together!/
Sudden she felt a warm peck on her cheek.
“I can feel your heartbeat, relax dummy.”
Rika blushed, and was slightly horrified.
/No, ruined the moment!/
Yuki whispered in her ear again.
“Let’s stay here a little longer.”
Rika nodded again and wrapped her arm around Yuki’s waist.
“Just a little.”
Rika’s eyes snapped open. She felt Yuki’s slow breathing and soft skin against her face.
/She’s sleeping... Wait. What time is it?/
She didn’t want to move and wake Yuki, so she searched around for some sign.
The light in the room had drastically changed, it was more dim and had warmer tones than earlier.
/It’s evening./
Her arm still laid around Yuki’s waist, and their legs were interlaced.
/There’s no moving without waking her./
Yuki looked angelic, every part of here was as flawless and fair as fallen snow.
Rika hesitated to even breath.
/I really don’t want to wake her./
Suddenly Yuki began stirring, she felt her nuzzle closer.
“Hello.”
Rika smiled and and loosely twirled a one of Yuki’s locks around her finger.
“Hello.”
Yuki’s voice was slightly raspy from just having woken up.
“We slept all day didn’t we.”
“Yes we did.”
Yuki yawned and hugged Rika tighter.
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s ok, I don’t mind spending the day like this.”
“A day spent in romantic bliss, you mean?”
“Yes.”
She poked Yuki’s cheek.
“We can still go to the amusement park, but we have to get up.”
“I don’t want too.”
“We’ve been in bed all day.”
“You’re so comfortable though.”
“I don’t want the tickets to go to waste.”
“I know.”
“There’ll be fireworks.”
“That’s nice.”
“It’ll be romantic.”
“Very true.”
“Are you getting up?”
“Yes.”
Yuki stretches her arms out and rose so she was over Rika.
“What a romantic life.”
Rika stood on her elbows so she could reach Yuki and kiss her.
“It’s just the start.”
Yuki looked down at her shorts and T-shirt. Then as her ruffled hair.
“It’s going to take a while to get ready.”
Rika tied her own hair into a ponytail.
“Why?”
“I want to look nice and everything.”
“We’re just going to the amusement park, it’s not that big of a deal.”
“It’s a date at the amusement park though.”
“You don’t need to dress up to the nines, lucky underwear and makeup.”
Yuki blushed, she had thought her first date, lucky underwear had been a slightly embarrassing secret.”
“H-how did you...”
“Just a hunch, thanks for confirming it though.”
Yuki crossed her arms and looked away.
“You have some too.”
It was Rika’s turn to be embarrassed. Remembering her misunderstanding before their first date.
“I- I do not.”
She looked away and rubbed her neck, trying to act casually.
“Ha! I knew it.”
“Well... So what. It shouldn’t be that big of a deal considering we’re going to be living together, doing laundry and stuff.”
Yuki’s eyes widened and her face turned completely red. She hadn’t realized that.
“Like, we’re together and everything it shouldn’t be too big of a deal, right?”
Yuki waved her hands hesitantly.
“It’s not like that, it’s just it’ll be dirty and stuff...”
She itched her cheek.
“I prefer you see me in a certain light... I don’t know what I mean.”
“I know what you mean. I think... this is part of being together though. We share each other’s lives. Not just our public selves.”
Yuki thought for a moment.
She stepped forward and took Rika’s hands.
“I like eating potato chips and drinking beer in an old tracksuit while watching anime late at night. I also tend to throw my dirty laundry on the floor and don’t put clean clothes back in their drawers. That’s rough me.”
Rika laughed a little.
“I do the same, but I also drink whiskey and play video games. The clothes thing... I see what you mean now.”
Yuki looked at the floor coyly.
“I’ll work on that.”
“I guess... We share the rough and cleaned up sides of ourselves now.”
“I don’t mind... It’s not like any of it changes anything or you know, how I feel about living with you.”
Rika hugged Yuki, who despite usually being the romantic one, wasn’t expecting it.
“I’m... I’m happy about this. About us.”
The thought hadn’t really crossed Yuki’s mind, how she felt about being with Rika. It had only seemed right to her, almost destined.
“I... I am too. Really happy.”
Now she said it out loud, she realized how different her outlook was. In a short time her life had changed, she had changed, entirely for the better. She was actually happy and comfortable for the first time in a long time.
Yuki kissed Rika’s cheek and spun around to walk towards the bathroom.
“We need to get ready!”
Rika nodded as Yuki closed the door. She was lost in thought as she dressed, slightly anxious about their date.
It was more than just rides and fireworks in reality. It was the time she would profess her love to Yuki. They had both said it already, but not as she had intended.
/I’m too nervous, it feels like I’m planning to propose to her./
She stopped dressing for a moment.
/I’m going to be a wreck when I actually do propose to her./
She sighed.
/One thing at a time./
