第８９話：神宮寺麻里
……千鶴さんの人妻的な妖艶さに、全部持っていかれた。
正直、私だって「すごい」と思った。
だけど――亜紀さんと玲奈の顔を見た瞬間、胸が痛んだ。
二人とも、完全に燃え尽きている。
さっきまで「私たちのステージだ！」って気迫に満ちていたのに、今は真っ白な灰。
（……これは、笑えないな）
「直也、どうするの？」
私はグラスを置き、彼に小さく問いかけた。
「亜紀さんと玲奈さん、今日一番頑張った二人が……真っ白に燃え尽きてるよ」
直也が苦い顔をする。
でも、それをかき消すように松川のおじさんたちが声を張り上げた。
「いやぁ～千鶴ちゃんの魅力の前には、亜紀ちゃんも敵じゃねーな！」
「大将、やるなぁ！ 千鶴姐さんとデュエットだなんて！」
……やっぱり、盛り上がっているのはおじさんたちだけ。
女性陣は誰も笑っていない。
（直也、このままじゃダメだよ）
「皆を盛り上げてよ。直也の責任でしょ？」
私はわざと煽るように言った。
直也は短く息を吐いて、頷いた。
そしてマイクを手に取り、にやりと笑った。
「――じゃあ、そろそろ締めの曲を歌います」
広間にざわめきが広がった。
おじさんたちも、女性陣も、一斉に直也を見つめる。
（……さあ、どうまとめるの？直也）
表示されたタイトルは――『Don’t Stop Me Now』。
莉子が「え？歌えるの？」と驚いていた。
「……クイーン？」
誰かの呟きが聞こえた瞬間、直也の声が広間に飛び込んできた。

直也は片手を突き上げ、おじさんたちが拳を合わせて応える。

……あの亜紀と玲奈までもが、笑って泣きながら拍手していた。
燃え尽きていた心に、再び火を灯されたのだ。
私はそっとグラスを掲げ、呟いた。
