Devil's Consultation
“My mum is so scrawny and can’t eat. And has pain in the pit of the stomach and the back…”
Devil talked about his mother in detail. And Doc asked many questions including how it aches, when it had occurred, if it was getting worse, how long she hadn’t been able to eat and so on. And finally he succeeded in getting the detailed information of Devils mother as though he had used the ‘Brain Prospective Apparatus’.
Then Doc thought about it for a while and finally murmured.
“It might be advanced pancreatic cancer...”
Listening to his words, I was so surprised and I asked him,
“Hey Doc, how did you know so much about medicine though you are a physicist?”
“Well… I graduated from medical school before entering the department of physics at university.”
“Wow! Doc, Are you a Doctor?”
“I was interested in physics. But my parents forced me to be a doctor. So I entered medical school.”
“Forced you to be a doctor?”
“Well, it might be saying too much. In fact, I once dreamed to be a doctor.”
“And?”
“Soon after I became a doctor, my parents died.”
“Oh!”
“I inherited a fortune. So I could live without working.”
Then Devil said,
“Lucky you! You inherited a fortune. If I inherited a fortune I’d be having some fun!”
“No. No. Toshio, if you don’t have a goal, you might live too luxuriously and get into debt.”
“Oh.”
“That could have happened to me. But then I wished to be a physicist and entered university. Of course I tried to live a simple life.”
“I appreciate your life is very simple Doc, since you didn’t want to spend any money buying a brand new suit and instead repaint it again and again.”
“Yes. I hate wasteful spending.”
“And it’s the first time to hear that you were a real Doctor.”
“Yes. I know something in both of the fields. And it is meaningful for me to investigate in not only physics but nature.”
“So, you invented a ‘Brain Prospective Apparatus’, Doc?”
“Who cares about that?”
“Hey, Dr. Brown Tabby, please, please help my mum if you know something about medicine!”
“OK. Well, it’s the treatment of an advanced pancreatic cancer but…”
“Is it so difficult?”
“Well, we must investigate in the circumstances.”
“Investigate the circumstances, once again? So what color suit should we wear?”
“There is the suit that I wore to the Physical Society the other day.”
“That dark brown stripes on yellow one?”
“Preciously.”
“Wow, it’s cool. But it’s definitely be out of place. You should paint it black as we went to the wake.”
“Wake? What do you mean? That’s a bad omen!”
“Don’t worry. We’re going to the hospital where your mother is Toshio. So let’s paint the suit in quite a normal color.”
“Well, what’s quite a normal color, Doc?”
“Gray!”
Doc didn’t paint that dark brown striped one but painted the red suit that I was wearing when we went to the Chinese restaurant ‘Flying Squid’, in gray.
“So how old is your father, Toshio?”
“He is thirty eight.”
“OK. So, get in the Time Age Machine.”
“What? What is the Time so and so Machine?”
“We can be at any age!”
“Really?”
“And it also is a Time Machine too!”
“Wow!”
“It is a Time Machine and an Age Machine at the same time and was invented by Doc… and I fixed it!”
“Wow! Did you really do that, Ichiro?”
“Well, Ichiro found a blown-fuse. Anyhow get in the Machine, Toshio.”
Then Devil got in the machine and it started. Soon after, we heard voices of him saying “Wow!” or “Oh my god!” and after a while, he got out and looked like a middle-aged guy, and was of the age of his father.
“Wow, I look like my dad!”
Then Doc handed him the suit re-painted in gray.
“Well, you and your father seem to be like two peas in a pod, Toshio.” Doc said.
“So we’re going to the hospital. Well, we have to make an appointment with her doctor.”
“Appointment?”
“Well we don’t need to make one because were going to abduct him. Well, not really we just want to talk peacefully with the doctor.”
“Well yes. We need no double, no chloroform and no need to drag the doctor into the toilet.”
“Oh, Toshio is a double for his father, Ichiro.”
“Oh, I see.”
“What are you talking about?”
