Return to The Giants Hammer Smithy

A few days have gone by since the battle with the black dragon. Luckily we were able to reach the outside from the large hole on the cavern’s ceiling. It made it much easier to avoid monsters on our way back to town.

I was still badly injured from the fight so having a quick way out of the mines was very appreciated. Raiden was still staying in his card to recover. He hasn’t come out at all. Makes sense considering he was the one who took the most sever beating. We were in no shape to report back to the guild so we decided to take our time recovering before going through the trouble of a report on the quest.

Our first quest however did lead to huge profits. We acquired tons of rare items from the dragon’s hoard we found. Liza was the happiest of us all when she found mithril among our spoils. It would have been easier to turn the whole pile all into one card but Liza was very particular in sorting out everything we found before carding everything. That girl has a one track mind when it comes to anything material related. If it wasn’t for the fact I had broken bones I wouldn’t have minded but she was going to be way more annoying if I didn’t humor her.

We brought everything from the dragon’s hoard to the body of the aforementioned dragon back to The Giants Hammer Smithy. Brewster was interested in all the materials we had collected, especially the in the black dragon.

He told us not to bring it to the guild to butcher it and said he would have someone he knows pretty well handle it. It would be a big deal at the guild in a group of G rank adventurers were to pull out a black dragon out of nowhere. We all agreed that handling the materials personally would be the best course of action for now.

Since everything was being taken care of I was able to make a full recovery. Liza would bring me the occasional healing potion to quicken up my recovery. After taking this mornings potion I was back in peak form and could leave my bed for the first time since coming back to town.

Pebble stayed by my side the entire time while out of commission. Seeing me back on my feet made him jump for joy. Pebble clung onto my body and wouldn’t let go so I just left him to do as he pleased.

With Pebble stuck to my shoulder I made my way down to the forge where both Brewster and Liza were working.

“Well it’s about time you joined us here. Looks like that body of yours finally pulled itself back together.” (Brewster)

“Yeah, I appreciate you letting me rest up here. Hope I didn’t cause to much trouble for you.” (Arin)

“Ha ha, don’t mention it. Life is always more exciting with the occasional trouble. This one here gives me way more trouble to deal with on the daily.” (Brewster)

“Who you calling trouble? At least I didn’t spend half our budget for materials out drinking all night.” (Liza)

“You can’t blame a dwarf for loving booze. Plus it’s nowhere as bad as when you nearly blew up the forge working with flame stones, remember.” (Brewster)

“How was I suppose to know hammering them! You should have taught me that sooner!” (Liza)

“If you had half a brain back then you would have know better!” (Brewster)

“Are you calling me stupid!” (Liza)

“Well I didn’t call you smart now did I!” (Brewster)

“You’re way more stupid pop! You big idiot.!” (Liza)

Those two ended up bickering for a while. Even though their words were pretty harsh it didn’t seem like they hated each other. Looking at their faces you could see them smirking here and there.

“Oh sorry there for getting distracted. Since your up and about now I might as well tell you. Thank you for completing the quest. I’ll make sure the guild pays you extra when you stop by to report everything.” (Brewster)

“Sounds good. Glad everything turned out well.” (Arin)

“Of course. Also, we finished up butchering that dragon you guys brought in. Since you ended up fighting that monster because you accepted our request we figured all the dragon materials should go to you.” (Brewster)

“That would be amazing, but are you sure?” (Arin)

“No need to be hesitant my boy. It was actually Liza’s suggestion to give you everything.” (Brewster)

“She did?” (Arin)

“Well you were the one that did the most and killed it in the end. Beside with everything we got from the hoard we made more then enough. Even if we split the treasure we’ll still profit from everything we get.” (Liza)

Liza tried to look compose but her ears were noticeably red which made her embarrassment all the more noticeable.

“We’ve got the dragon materials out in back. Liza go show him the way.” (Brewster)

“Sure thing pops. Come on, it’s this way.” (Liza)

Liza grab me by the arm and started pulling me to the back of the forge.

“That girl. Would it kill her to not call me pops. Well at least it looks like she’s having fun.” (Brewster)

With Liza dragging me to the back of the forge I saw the body of the black dragon now properly dissected. Its large skeletal frame was now stripped of all its meat and scales.

“We left everything that was too big to turn into a card here. Everything else we were able to card we placed them to the side. Here you go.” (Liza)

Liza handed me a small deck of card, all of which were materials taken from the dragon’s body. Every card was ranked 8 or 7. Even with the damage done to it having the quality of some parts go down to 7 is still very impressive.

“If you would be so kind, could you turn all the big stuff left into a card?” (Liza)

“That shouldn’t be a problem. I got you.” (Arin)

I walked over to all the remaining parts of the dragon still out and one by one turned them into cards that I added to my newly acquired deck. There was so much that I was starting to wonder if everything that happened was real. Pebble snapped me out of my momentary trance poking at my face. I them properly compose myself and put everything away in one of my deck boxes.

“Glad that’s taken care of. I wonder what I can make with all of this stuff.” (Arin)

“You know if you don’t have any plans for those parts why not use them to upgrade your equipment.” (Liza)

“I’m not sure. Raiden only really needs his katanas to fight with, and after the fight with the dragon I can rely on Pebble as both a weapon or armor.” (Arin)

“True, I am kind of jealous on how useful Pebble is. Takes away work for people like me and my old man though. In that case why not make stuff for your future companions. With your soul card you can make more allies to fight along side you, so for now we can make stuff you think they might need.” (Liza)

“I could do that but I’m not sure what kind of person will pop up when using… Wait a second.” (Arin)

I won’t know what kind of gear the one I make with my [Character] card will need but what if I use weapons and armor to craft my characters? When I created Raiden I did use the katanas dad gave me, so what’s stopping me from doing something like that again. Plus, if it’s armor and weapons made from dragon parts then I might get something really powerful too.

“Liza I think I will have some new equipment made. Do you think your could make me something? I’ve got an interesting idea.” (Arin)
