やっぱり残念会やってた
And we sat at a table next to them
それでぼくらは、お父さんたちの隣のテーブルにつき
and ordered two bowls of ‘Chuka-don’.
中華どんぶりを二つ注文した
“Well, we are wearing improper clothes, Doc.”
ねえ、ぼくら場違いな服装だよね
“Don’t bother about such tiny things.
そんなことどうでもよい
Just listen to what they say!”
とにかく親父さんたちの会話をよく聞け！
So I observed them eating.
それでぼくらは食べながら、お父さんたちを観察した
Certainly we could hear their voices.
たしかに声は良く聞こえた
And my father was saying that he wasn’t the pilot,
そしてお父さんは、自分は飛行機を飛ばしていないと言っていた
since the aircrafts were flown by an impostor.
替え玉が飛ばしたんだからね
But then, the other staff consoled my father saying,
だけどそれを無視するように、他のスタッフがお父さんを慰めるように言った
“Every dog has its day.” or
どんな人も一生の内に成功したり幸福を味わう時がある、とか
“Even a good marksman may miss.”
サルも木から落ちる、とか
And after that, my father began telling them his story.
それからお父さんが、同じストーリーを話し始めた
“Well, immediately after I did a piss,
小便をし終わったら
I fainted.
気を失った
And when I came to,
そして気が付いたら
I saw a guy who looked very much like me
おれそっくりのやつがいて
and he told me to go to the apron
駐機場へ行けって言って
handing me the transmitter and glasses.
送信機とサングラスを渡したんだ
Then I went there to find such a terrible situation.”
それで駐機場へ行ったらあの惨状だ
So the staff that telephoned my house said,
そしたらぼくの家へ電話をかけた人が言った
“It must be a Doppelganger Phenomenon!”
そいつはドッペルゲンガー現象だ
and added a foolish theory,
そしてばかな説を唱えた
“Drinking is a specific remedy for it!”
ドッペルゲンガーにはアルコールが特効薬だ
Anyway, they talked in an incoherent manner drinking alcohol heavily,
とにかくアルコールで話は支離滅裂になり
and someone finally said,
最後に誰かが言った
“Let’s make a Radio-Control Space Station!”
今度はラジコン宇宙ステーションを作ろうぜ！
Then all of a sudden,
すると突然

burst into the restaurant
どやどやと店に入ってきた
