第13話 甘い絵の冒険にご用心！（Beware of the Sweet Painting Adventure!）
それは科学も魔法もある、こことは別の世界。
This is a world where both science and magic exist, a world different from ours.
今日の魔法学校の授業は、美術館で行われています。
Today's magic school class is being held at the art museum.
「絵の中の登場人物を動かして、お話をする魔法」を勉強するのです。
The students are learning the "magic to animate characters in paintings and talk to them."
今日も上級生のアリスが先生のお手伝いに来ていて、みんなにお手本を見せてくれます。
Today, Alice, the upperclassman, is here again to help the teacher, and she shows everyone how it is done.
「オーホッホ！ 見ていなさい、これが上級生の魔法よ！」
"Ohoho! Watch closely, this is the magic of an upperclassman!"
アリスが可愛らしい妖精の描かれた絵に向かって、美しく杖を振りました。
Alice gracefully waved her wand toward a painting of a lovely fairy.
「魔法まぜまぜ、絵の中の妖精さん、起きて踊って！ エイッ！」
"Magic Mix, fairy in the painting, wake up and dance! Yah!"
するとどうでしょう。絵の中の小さな妖精がパタパタと羽を動かして絵から少し飛び出し、可愛らしい声でお話をしながら、素敵なダンスを披露してくれました。
And what do you know? The tiny fairy in the painting fluttered her wings, stepped out slightly, spoke in a sweet voice, and performed a wonderful dance.
ドットもアイビーも、妖精のきらびやかなダンスに目を輝かせて夢中になっています。
Both Dot and Ivy stared with sparkling eyes, completely enchanted by the fairy's dazzling dance.
ダンスが終わると、アリスは誇らしげにまた呪文を唱えました。
When the dance was over, Alice proudly cast her spell once more.
「魔法まぜまぜ、動く絵よ、元通りになれ！ エイッ！」
"Magic Mix, moving painting, return to normal! Yah!"
妖精はにっこりと微笑んで絵の中に戻り、元の美しい一枚の静かな絵に戻りました。
The fairy smiled warmly, stepped back into the painting, and it returned to being a beautiful, quiet piece of art.
それを見たジャックスは、ウズウズして自分の選んだ絵の前に立ちました。
Watching this, Jax grew impatient and stood before his chosen painting.
その絵には、不気味で恐ろしいお化けに、一人の勇敢な剣士が立ち向かう姿が描かれていました。
The painting depicted a brave swordsman confronting a creepy, terrifying monster.
「よし、俺の番だな！ 魔法まぜまぜ、剣士よ、お化けをやっつけろ！ エイッ！」
"Alright, my turn! Magic Mix, swordsman, defeat the monster! Yah!"
ジャックスは大きな声で剣士を応援しました。
Jax cheered for the swordsman at the top of his lungs.
「いけ！ 突撃だ！ お化けなんて斬り倒しちまえ！」
"Go! Charge! Slash that monster to pieces!"
剣士は絵の中で果敢に剣を振り回しますが、お化けの体は煙のように透き通っていて、剣の攻撃が全く当たりません。剣士はついに力尽きて、お化けに負けてしまいました。
The swordsman bravely swung his sword inside the painting, but the monster's body was translucent like smoke, and none of the sword strikes connected. Exhausted, the swordsman was eventually defeated by the monster.
「ちぇっ、悔しいな！ もう一回だ！」
"Tch, how frustrating! One more time!"
ジャックスは絵を元に戻す魔法をかけて、何度も何度も挑戦させますが、何度やっても剣士はお化けに勝てません。
Jax used the spell to reset the painting and tried over and over again, but no matter how many times he tried, the swordsman could not defeat the monster.
先生がジャックスに優しく教えてくれました。
The teacher gently explained to Jax.
「ジャックス、これは絵を描いた人が『この剣士はお化けに勝てない』という切ない思いを込めて描いた絵なのです。だから、魔法で動かしてもそのストーリーは変わらないのですよ」
"Jax, the artist painted this with the sad sentiment that 'this swordsman cannot defeat the monster.' That is why, even if you animate it with magic, the story itself will not change."
次はアイビーの順番です。
Next was Ivy's turn.
アイビーが魔法をかけたのは、不思議でカラフルな動物たちがたくさん描かれている絵でした。
Ivy cast her spell on a painting depicting many strange and colorful animals.
「魔法まぜまぜ、動物さんたち、お話を聞かせて。エイッ！」
"Magic Mix, strange animals, please tell me your stories! Yah!"
絵の中の動物たちはとても楽しそうに、身振り手振りを交えて会話を始めました。
The animals in the painting began to converse merrily, using gestures.
しかし、残念ながら動物たちの言葉は不思議な鳴き声ばかりで、アイビー以外の他の生徒たちには、彼らがどんな会話をしているのかさっぱり分かりません。
However, to everyone's disappointment, their words were nothing but strange animal cries, and the other students—except for Ivy—had no idea what they were saying.
アイビーだけが、はにかみながら嬉しそうにクスクスと笑っていました。
Only Ivy smiled bashfully, giggling with delight.
次にガスが選んだのは、まるごと全部がお菓子でできている世界を冒険する子供の絵です。
Next, Gus chose a painting of a child adventuring through a world made entirely of sweets.
「魔法まぜまぜ、お菓子の世界を教えて。エイッ！」
"Magic Mix, tell me about the sweets world. Yah!"
絵の中の子供は楽しそうに、ガスの質問に答えてくれました。
The child in the painting answered Gus's questions with a cheerful smile.
「木の枝には美味しいカラフルなキャンディーが実っていて、あっちには甘いチョコレートの池があるんだ！ 足元に咲いている花はふわふわのわた飴だよ！」
"Delicious colorful candies grow on the tree branches, and over there is a sweet chocolate pond! The flowers blooming at our feet are fluffy cotton candy!"
しかし、それを聞いても実際に食べることはできません。
However, even after hearing this, Gus could not actually eat any of it.
「グー……。はあ、聞いていたらお腹がペコペコになっちゃったよ」
"*Guu*... Oh dear, just hearing about it has made me so hungry."
ガスは大きな音でお腹を鳴らすと、寂しそうに絵を元に戻す魔法をかけました。
With a loud rumble from his stomach, Gus sadly cast the spell to reset the painting.
それを見ていたドットは、おてんばらしく胸を張って言いました。
Watching this, Dot puffed out her chest cheekily and said,
「だったら、絵を動かすだけじゃなくて、私たち自身が絵の中に入っちゃえばいいのよ！ そうすればクッキーもお菓子も食べ放題じゃない！」
"Well, instead of just moving the paintings, we should just go inside them ourselves! That way, we can eat all the cookies and sweets we want!"
「えっ、そんなことできるの？」とアイビーが驚きます。
"Eh? Can we really do that?" Ivy asked in surprise.
ドットは得意げに杖を構え、勝手な呪文を唱えました。
Dot confidently readied her wand and chanted her own made-up spell.
「魔法まぜまぜ！ お菓子の絵の中にワープ！ エイッ！」
"Magic Mix! Warp into the sweets painting! Yah!"
ドットの体がキラキラとした光に包まれ、確かにその場から消え去りましたが……。
Dot's body was enveloped in sparkling light, and she indeed vanished from the spot, but...
ドボーーーン！！！
SPLASH!!!
美術館の外から、ものすごい水の音が聞こえてきました。
A tremendous sound of splashing water echoed from outside the art museum.
みんなが驚いて窓の外を覗いてみると、ドットは美術館の庭にある大きな噴水の中に落ちて、ずぶ濡れになっていました。
Everyone rushed to look out the window in surprise, only to find Dot soaking wet, having fallen into the large fountain in the museum's garden.
「ドットは本当に、お水の中にワープするのが得意だね」
"Dot is really good at warping into water, isn't she?"
ガスは窓辺で、いつものようにおっとりとのんびり話しました。
Gus spoke in his usual slow, gentle manner by the window.
頭から噴水の水をかぶってずぶ濡れになったドットの前に、学校の先生が厳しい顔で立ちました。
The school teacher stood with a stern look before Dot, who was dripping wet from the fountain.
「ドット！ また勝手な魔法を使って大失敗ですね！ 普通に絵を動かす魔法で十分ですから、次回の授業までにきちんとおうちで練習してきなさい！」
"Dot! Another big failure from using a reckless spell! A normal spell to make paintings move is more than enough, so make sure you practice properly at home before the next class!"
「はーい……」
"Yes, ma'am..."
ドットは濡れたツインテールをしょんぼりと垂らして、トボトボと家に帰りました。
Dot drooped her wet twin tails and trudged back home.
家に帰ったドットが、さっそく博士に相談すると、博士はいつものように「ニカッ」と白い歯を見せて笑いました。
When Dot returned home and consulted Doc, he grinned with his trademark bright white teeth as always.
「ハハハ！ 絵の中に入りたいのかい？ それなら、ちょうどいいものがあるよ！ 僕の最新発明『絵の中冒険セット』だ！」
"Hahaha! You want to go inside a painting? Well, I have just the thing for you! My latest invention, the 'Painting Adventure Set'!"
博士が研究室の奥から取り出したのは、冒険家が着るような服や帽子ですが、なんだかカラフルなだけの、一見普通の洋服セットでした。
What Doc brought out from the back of his lab was a set of clothes and hats that looked like explorer gear, but they were incredibly colorful and seemed like ordinary clothes at first glance.
「この特別な服と帽子を身につけた状態で、入りたい絵の前で３回かかとをトントンと鳴らすだけで、その絵の中に入れるよ。帰りたい時は、また全部着た状態でかかとを３回鳴らすだけさ！」
"With this special outfit and hat on, just tap your heels three times in front of the painting you want to enter, and you will go right inside! When you want to return, just tap your heels three times again while wearing the complete set!"
「わあ、すごい！ 博士、ありがとう！」
"Wow, amazing! Thank you, Doc!"
ドットは大喜びでそのカラフルな冒険セットを身につけると、残りの三人分も抱えて急いでみんなのところへ走りました。
Overjoyed, Dot put on the colorful adventure outfit, grabbed the remaining three sets, and ran to meet her friends.
アイビー、ガス、ジャックスにその服を渡して、自慢げに提案します。
Handing the clothes to Ivy, Gus, and Jax, she proudly suggested,
「みんな、これを使って、もう一度美術館の絵の中に冒険に行こうよ！」
"Everyone, let's use this to go on an adventure inside the museum paintings again!"
４人はもう一度、こっそりと美術館に向かいました。
The four of them quietly headed back to the art museum once more.
彼らが最初に選んだのは、やはりジャックスが何度やっても勝てなかった、お化けと剣士が戦う絵の前でした。
The first painting they chose was, of course, the one Jax could never win—the battle between the monster and the swordsman.
ジャックスは拳をぎゅっと握りしめて言いました。
Jax clenched his fist tightly and said,
「よし！ 俺たちが絵の中に入って、あの剣士を助けてあげるんだ。俺たちの魔法を合わせれば、あのお化けにだって絶対に攻撃が当たるはずだろ！」
"Alright! We'll go inside the painting and help that swordsman. If we combine our magic, we can definitely hit that monster!"
「いくよ、せーの！」
"Here we go, ready, set, go!"
トントン、トン！ と、４人がお揃いの靴のかかとを３回鳴らしました。
Tap-tap-tap! The four of them tapped the heels of their matching shoes three times.
すると、視界がぐるぐると回り、目の前にはお化けを相手に大苦戦している、ボロボロになった剣士の姿が飛び込んできました。
Instantly, their vision spun, and right before their eyes appeared the battered swordsman, struggling terribly against the monster.
「うわあ、本当に絵の中に入れたぞ！」とジャックスは大興奮です。
"Whoa, we're really inside the painting!" Jax shouted in great excitement.
お化けが剣士に向かって襲いかかろうとしたその時、ジャックスは素早く杖を構えました。
Just as the monster was about to pounce on the swordsman, Jax quickly readied his wand.
「お化けめ、俺が相手だ！ 魔法まぜまぜ、ちっちゃな火よ、お化けの尻尾に届け！ エイッ！」
"Hey monster, I'm your opponent! Magic Mix, tiny fire, reaches the monster's tail! Yah!"
ジャックスが唱えると、お化けの尻尾に小さなロウソクのような火がポッと灯りました。
As Jax chanted, a small flame like a candle popped onto the monster's tail.
「ギャッ！ 熱い熱い！」とお化けが自分の尻尾を抱えて慌てふためきます。
"Gah! Hot, hot, hot!" the monster cried, frantically clutching its tail.
すかさずアイビーが、優しくも凛とした声を響かせます。
Right away, Ivy let out her gentle yet dignified voice.
「お化けさん、この歌を聞いて大人しくしてね……♪」
"Mr. Monster, please listen to this song and behave... ♪"
アイビーがお化けの嫌いな美しい歌声でメロディを奏でると、お化けは耳を塞いで「ううう、頭がクラクラする〜」とフラフラになり、みるみる力が弱まっていきました。
As Ivy played a beautiful melody with her lovely singing voice, which the monster detested, the monster covered its ears. "Ugh, my head is spinning~" it groaned, growing weaker by the second.
「僕の魔法も受けてよ！」
"Take my magic too!"
ガスがのんびりと杖を振りました。
Gus waved his wand in his relaxed way.
「魔法まぜまぜ、のびのびツタさん、お化けを捕まえて！ エイッ！」
"Magic Mix, fast-growing vines, catch the monster! Yah!"
植物を急成長させる魔法によって、近くからトゲトゲのついた不気味なツタがぐんぐんと伸び、ふらふらになったお化けの体をぐるぐる巻きに縛り上げました。
With his magic that accelerated plant growth, creepy thorny vines grew rapidly from nearby, binding the dizzy monster tightly from head to toe.
「最後は私の番よ！」
"Finally, my turn!"
ドットが力強く叫びました。
Dot shouted powerfully.
「魔法まぜまぜ、お化けさん、あっちの水の中に飛んでいけ！ エイッ！」
"Magic Mix, Mr. Monster, fly into the water over there! Yah!"
ドットがテレポートの魔法をお化けにかけると、ぐるぐる巻きのお化けは一瞬で消え去り……。
As Dot cast her teleportation magic on the monster, the bound beast vanished in an instant, and...
バシャーーーン！！！
SPLASH!!!
近くにある輝く「聖なる泉」の中にドボンと落ちていきました。お化けは完全に退治され、煙のようになって消えてしまいました。
It fell right into the glowing "sacred fountain" nearby. The monster was completely defeated, dissolving away like smoke.
「やったぞ！ 大成功だ！」
"We did it! A huge success!"
４人は嬉しそうにハイタッチを交わしました。ボロボロの剣士が立ち上がり、４人に深く頭を下げました。
The four happily high-fived each other. The battered swordsman stood up and bowed deeply to them.
「勇敢な若き冒険家たちよ、本当にありがとう。おかげでこの世界に平和が戻りました」
"Brave young explorers, thank you so much. Thanks to you, peace has returned to this world."
「どういたしまして！ それじゃあ、帰ろう！」
"You're very welcome! Now, let's head back!"
ドットたちがお揃いのかかとを３回鳴らすと、一瞬で元の静かな美術館に戻っていました。
As Dot and her friends tapped their matching heels three times, they instantly returned to the quiet museum.
しかし、現実に戻ってその絵を見てみると、どういうことでしょう。
However, when they looked at the painting in the real world, what had happened?
お化けと剣士が必死に戦う絵だったはずが、なんと「小さな４人の冒険家がお化けを退治して、剣士に感謝されている絵」に完全に描き変わっていたのです！
The painting that was supposed to show a desperate battle between a monster and a swordsman had completely changed into "a painting of four small explorers defeating the monster and being thanked by the swordsman"!
ジャックスは少し引きつった顔で言いました。
Jax said with a slightly worried face,
「おい、絵が変わっちまったぞ……。これ、後で先生や美術館の人にめちゃくちゃ怒られるんじゃないか？」
"Hey, the painting has changed... Aren't the teacher and the museum staff going to be super mad at us later?"
「大丈夫よ！」とドットは笑い飛ばします。
"It's fine!" Dot laughed it off.
「アリスにお願いして、元に戻す魔法をかけてもらえばいいんだもん！」
"We can just ask Alice to use her resetting magic to change it back!"
アイビーは二人の心配そうな様子を見て、優しくはにかみました。
Seeing how worried they were, Ivy smiled gently and bashfully.
「それなら、私の小鳥さんにお願いして、アリスに『絵を元に戻しに来てほしい』って手紙を届けてもらうね」
"In that case, I'll ask my little bird to deliver a letter to Alice, asking her to come and reset the painting."
アイビーは窓から青い小鳥を呼び寄せると、小さな手紙を持たせてアリスの家へと飛び立たせました。
Ivy called a blue bird to the window, gave it a tiny note, and watched it fly off toward Alice's house.
アリスが手紙を読んで助けに来てくれるまでの間、４人は「絵の中冒険セット」を使って、他のたくさんの絵の中を冒険することにしました。
While waiting for Alice to read the letter and come help, the four decided to use the "Painting Adventure Set" to explore many other paintings.
美しい「夜空の絵」に入り、大きな黄色の三日月の滑り台を滑り降りて、夜空に浮かぶキラキラした星を手で捕まえたり。
They entered a beautiful "night sky painting," slid down a giant yellow crescent moon slide, and caught sparkling stars in the night sky with their hands.
「入口も出口も階段もごちゃまぜな迷路の絵」に入って、どっちが進む道か分からなくなってみんなで頭を抱えて道に迷ってみたり。
They went into a "chaotic maze painting" with mixed-up entrances, exits, and stairs, getting completely lost and scratching their heads.
恐ろしい「ジャングルの絵」を草をかき分けて進み、鎖に繋がれて捕まっていた可哀想な小さなドラゴンをみんなで助け出してみたり。
They pushed through the thick grass of a fearsome "jungle painting" and worked together to rescue a poor little dragon that had been chained and captured.
あちこちを元気に大冒険しているうちに、ガスのお腹が「グウゥゥー」と大きな音を立てて鳴りました。
As they energetically adventured all over, Gus's stomach let out a huge "RUMBLE" sound.
「グー……。いっぱい冒険したら、またお腹が空いちゃったよ」
"*Guu*... Exploring so much has made me hungry again."
それを見たドットは嬉しそうに提案しました。
Seeing this, Dot made a cheerful suggestion.
「だったら最後に、さっきガスが見ていた『お菓子の世界』の絵に入って、美味しいおやつをたくさん食べてからおうちに帰ろう！」
"Then as our final stop, let's enter the 'sweets world' painting that Gus was looking at earlier, eat lots of delicious treats, and then go home!"
「賛成！」とみんなで声を合わせ、お菓子の絵の前でかかとをトントン、トン！と３回鳴らしました。
"Agreed!" Everyone shouted together, and in front of the sweets painting, they tapped their heels three times!
ドットたちの見ている景色は、一瞬にしてカラフルで甘い香りが漂う「お菓子の世界」へと変わりました。
In an instant, the scenery around Dot and her friends transformed into a colorful, sweet-scented "world of sweets."
４人は目の前に広がる夢のような景色に大はしゃぎです。
The four were ecstatic at the dreamlike scenery unfolding before them.
木に実っている甘い色とりどりのキャンディーをちぎって食べ、チョコレートの池の甘いチョコレートを指ですくって舐め、足元にたくさん咲いているふわふわのイチゴ味のわた飴の花をちぎって口いっぱいに頬張りました。
They plucked and ate the sweet, colorful candies growing on the trees, scooped up and licked the sweet chocolate from the chocolate pond, and stuffed their mouths with the fluffy strawberry-flavored cotton candy flowers blooming at their feet.
「うわあ！ 本当に食べられる！ すっごく美味しい！」とガスは大喜びでモグモグと食べています。
"Wow! We can actually eat it! It's so delicious!" Gus said, happily munching away in delight.
さらに歩いて進んでいくと、森の奥に、まるごとクッキーやチョコレート、キャンディーでできた、なんとも可愛らしいお菓子の家が見えてきました。
As they walked further, they saw a delightful gingerbread house made entirely of cookies, chocolates, and candies deep in the forest.
「わあ！ お菓子の家だ！」
"Wow! A gingerbread house!"
ドットたちが喜んで近づくと、お菓子の家のドアがゆっくりと開き、中から背の曲がった、優しそうな魔女のおばあさんが出てきて手招きをしました。
Just as Dot and the others approached with joy, the door of the gingerbread house slowly opened, and a bent, kind-looking old witch stepped out, gesturing for them to come in.
「おやおや、可愛いお客さんたちだね。よくこんな遠いところまで来たねぇ。今、とびきり美味しい特製のお菓子と冷たいジュースを用意してあげるから、その帽子と重たい上着は入り口のフックにかけて、暖炉のそばの席に座ってお待ちなさい」
"Oh my, what lovely guests. You've traveled a long way to get here. I will prepare some exceptionally delicious special sweets and cold juice for you now, so hang your hats and heavy coats on the hooks by the entrance and wait by the fireplace."
４人は言われた通りに、お揃いのカラフルな帽子や上着を入り口の壁にかけ、温かくて熱くない不思議な暖炉のそばの大きな丸いテーブル席に座りました。
As they were told, the four hung their matching colorful hats and coats on the wall by the entrance and sat around a large round table near a strange, warm-but-not-hot fireplace.
魔女のおばあさんはすぐに、キラキラ輝くクッキーや色鮮やかなケーキ、そして甘い特製ジュースを運んできました。
The old witch soon brought out sparkling cookies, brightly colored cakes, and a sweet, special juice.
「わあ、美味しそう！ いただきます！」
"Wow, it looks delicious! Thank you for the food!"
それは、ここに来る途中で食べた自然のお菓子よりも、何倍も甘くてとろけるように美味しいお菓子でした。
The sweets were many times sweeter and melt-in-your-mouth delicious compared to the treats they had eaten along the way.
しかし、ジュースやお菓子が美味しすぎたからでしょうか。お腹いっぱい食べた４人は、急にものすごい睡魔に襲われ、ウトウトとしてその場に倒れ、ぐっすりと眠ってしまいました。
However, perhaps the juice and cakes were just too delicious. After eating their fill, a powerful drowsiness suddenly washed over the four of them, and they drifted off, falling fast asleep on the spot.
そして……どれくらい時間が経ったでしょうか。
And then... How much time had passed?
次にドットが目を覚ましてみると、そこは可愛らしいお菓子の家の中ではありませんでした。
When Dot opened her eyes again, she was no longer inside the lovely gingerbread house.
薄暗くて冷たい、石造りの頑丈な地下の牢屋の中だったのです！
They were inside a dim, cold, and sturdy stone prison cell in the basement!
他の３人も、冷たい床の上で目を覚まして驚いています。
The other three also woke up on the cold floor in shock.
「えっ！？ ここはどこ！？ 出られないよ！」とジャックスが鉄格子を叩きます。
"Eh!? Where are we!? We can't get out!" Jax cried, banging on the iron bars.
牢屋の鉄格子の向こうから、不気味な足音が近づいてきました。
Eerie footsteps approached from beyond the iron bars of the cell.
現れたのは、先ほどの優しそうな雰囲気は完全に消え去り、恐ろしい目をした魔女のおばあさんでした。
The old witch appeared, her previous gentle demeanor completely gone, replaced by terrifying eyes.
「ヒッヒッヒ、私はこうやってお菓子につられてやってくるおバカな子供たちを閉じ込めて、美味しく食べる悪い魔女なのさ！ お前たちも丸々と太らせてから食べてやろう！」
"Hee-hee-hee! I am a wicked witch who locks up and devours foolish children lured in by sweets! I'll fatten you all up before I eat you!"
「キャーーーッ！」
"Kyaaa!"
４人は恐怖に震え上がり、アイビーはシクシクと涙をこぼしてドットにしがみつきました。
The four trembled in sheer terror, and Ivy began to weep softly, clinging tightly to Dot.
その時、ジャックスがハッと顔を上げました。
Just then, Jax raised his head with a start.
「そうだ！ 靴のかかとを３回鳴らして、現実の世界へ帰ればいいんだ！」
"That's right! We just need to tap our heels three times and warp back to the real world!"
「そうね！ せーの！」
"Right! Ready, set, go!"
トントン、トン！ と、４人は一生懸命にかかとを鳴らしました。
Tap-tap-tap! The four tapped their heels with all their might.
しかし……何も起こりません。周りの景色は地下牢のままでした。
But... nothing happened. The surrounding scenery remained the cold basement prison.
ガスが、入り口の方を見つめて静かに言いました。
Gus looked toward the distant entrance and said quietly,
「……僕たちの帽子と上着、お菓子の家の入り口にかけたまま忘れてきちゃったね。博士の冒険セットは、全部を身につけていないと帰る魔法が動かないんだよ」
"...We left our hats and coats hanging by the entrance of the gingerbread house. Doc's Adventure Set won't trigger the return magic unless we are wearing the complete set."
「あ！！！」
"Ah!!!"
ドットたちは顔を真っ青にしました。牢屋の中からは、お菓子の家の入り口に置いてきた服を取りに行くことなんて絶対にできません。
Their faces turned pale. From inside the locked cell, there was absolutely no way to retrieve the clothes they had left at the entrance.
魔女のおばあさんは牢屋のすぐ近くで、不気味に笑いながらシュッ、シュッと大きな包丁を研ぎ始めました。まさに絶体絶命の大ピンチです！
The old witch began to sharpen a large knife right near the cell with an eerie laugh. They were in absolute, desperate trouble!
まさにその時でした。
It was at that exact moment.
地下室に、聞き覚えのある凛とした魔法の呪文が響き渡りました。
A familiar, dignified magic spell echoed through the basement.
「魔法まぜまぜ、動く絵よ、元通りになれ！ エイッ！」
"Magic Mix, moving painting, return to normal! Yah!"
まばゆい光が地下牢全体を包み込みました。
A dazzling light enveloped the entire basement prison.
次の瞬間、ドットたちが目を開けると……なんと、冷たい牢屋ではなく、元の美術館の静かな床の上に４人でお尻をついて座っていました！
The next moment, when Dot and the others opened their eyes... they were no longer in the cold cell, but sitting on their bottoms on the quiet floor of the original art museum!
「うわあああ！ 戻ってきたーーー！」
"Uwaaa! We're back!!!"
ドットとジャックスは、思わず抱き合って大喜びしました。
Dot and Jax hugged each other, crying out in sheer joy.
４人の目の前に立っていたのは、腰に手を当てて少し怒った顔をしている上級生のアリスでした。
Standing before them was the upperclassman Alice, with her hands on her hips and a slightly angry expression on her face.
「はぁ.......全く、お世話の焼ける下級生たちね。アイビーからの手紙を読んで急いで来てみたら、絵がめちゃくちゃに書き変わっているし、あなたたちは絵の中に閉じ込められているし、本当に危ないところだったのよ！」
"Sigh... Honestly, you underclassmen are so much trouble. When I read Ivy's letter and rushed over, the paintings were completely messed up, and you were trapped inside them. You were in serious danger!"
アリスは、アイビーの青い小鳥が届けた手紙を読んで、すぐに美術館に駆けつけ、アリスの得意な「元に戻す魔法」を絵にかけたのです。絵が元に戻ったため、中にいたドットたちも現実の世界へ引き戻されたのでした。
Alice had read the letter delivered by Ivy's blue bird and rushed to the museum, casting her specialty "resetting magic" on the paintings. Since the paintings returned to normal, Dot and her friends were pulled back to the real world.
アリスは、いつもの先生の代わりに、４人の前に立って丁寧に、そして厳しく叱りました。
Standing in for the teacher, Alice gave the four a polite yet stern scolding.
「いい？ 魔法や科学の道具を使って、勝手に絵の歴史を変えたり、危険な場所に入り込んだりしては絶対にダメよ。分かった？」
"Listen to me. You must never use magic or scientific gadgets to change the history of paintings or venture into dangerous places. Do you understand?"
「はーい……ごめんなさい……」
"Yes... We are very sorry..."
４人はションボリと反省して、深く頭を下げました。
The four reflected on their actions and bowed their heads in shame.
でも、ドットはうつむいたまま、自分のポケットに手を入れ、何かをコソコソと取り出しました。
But while keeping her head down, Dot reached into her pocket and secretly pulled something out.
それは、お菓子の世界を冒険している途中に、木からちぎってポケットに入れておいた、キラキラと輝く甘いキャンディーでした。
It was a sparkling, sweet candy she had plucked from a tree during their adventure in the sweets world.
ドットはそれをアリスの目の前に差し出しました。
Dot held it out in front of Alice.
「これ、お詫びのプレゼント！ お菓子の世界で採れた、本物のキャンディーだよ！ 助けてくれてありがとう、アリス！」
"This is an apology present! It's a real candy from the sweets world! Thank you for saving us, Alice!"
アリスは怪訝そうな顔で、そのキャンディーをじっと見つめました。
Alice looked at the candy suspiciously.
「あら……。これ、食べたらさっきみたいに眠くなったりしないでしょうね？」
"My... Are you sure eating this won't make me sleepy like you all were?"
４人は慌てて首を横に振り、笑顔で答えました。
The four quickly shook their heads and replied with smiles,
「大丈夫！ それは魔女のおうちに行く前に、木からちぎった安全なキャンディーだから、眠くならないよ！」
"It's okay! We plucked that from a tree before we reached the witch's house, so it's perfectly safe and won't make you sleepy!"
「ふん、じゃあ、お礼としてありがたくもらっておくわ。もう絶対に、こんな危ないことはしちゃダメよ？」
"Hmph. Well, I will gladly accept it as a thank-you. But absolutely no more dangerous stunts like this, okay?"
アリスはそう言って、少し嬉しそうにはにかみながら、キャンディーを口に放り込んで、ゆっくりと自分の家に帰っていきました。
Alice said, smiling slightly and bashfully, as she popped the candy into her mouth and walked back to her home.
たまにはハラハラするような、ワクワクした大冒険に出かけるのも楽しいかもしれません。
Sometimes, going on a thrilling and exciting adventure can be fun.
でも、それよりも、自分が失敗した時に、危ないところを助けてくれて、きちんと叱ってくれる大切な人がそばにいることの方が、ずっと価値があることなのかもしれませんね。
However, having someone special by your side who will rescue you when you fail, and gently but firmly scold you when you are wrong, might be far more valuable than any thrilling journey.
大切なのは、スリルのある冒険を自慢することじゃなくて、自分の間違いを正して見守ってくれる人の温かさに感謝することだったんですね。
The important thing was not to brag about thrilling adventures, but to appreciate the warmth of those who correct our mistakes and watch over us.
