Agreements and Counterpoints

Chapter 325 Agreements and Counterpoints

"That makes sense," Aleshia agreed, but she offered a counterpoint. "I don't think we should dismiss the idea of trying the spell on this body just yet. We could dissect the components of the spell, as we have been doing, and combine them with the spells we already know, as well as any new ones we might discover."

As Aleshia explained her reasons for wanting to continue exploring this idea, one detail stood out to her that she couldn't grasp. "Wait, what do you mean by spellbook?" Aleshia asked. She tried to remember when they had encountered it. However, her memory became hazy and fragmented.

Lucia was looking perplexed, because she remembered that Aleshia had seen it herself. "You know, the spellbook was unusual and distorted. It had many pages filled with archaic symbols, some of which changed inexplicably. Don't you remember?" she pointed out.

Using Lucia's description, Aleshia continued to try to remember the book. She pushed through the disorientation, trying to remember when and where they had come across the spellbook. Her memory felt scrambled and distorted, making it painful to think about. Eventually, she realized that struggling through the pain and discomfort wouldn't produce any results, so she stopped trying. Even though curiosity still nagged at her, she understood it was best not to force the pieces together.

As the dull ache of trying to remember faded, Aleshia finally responded to Lucia's question. "I... I don't remember anything at all. It seems that I can't remember any details about the spellbook. It hurts to try to remember it." Aleshia regained some control over her body and brought a hand to her head, massaging it with a familiar motion. The sensation of kneading her face soothed and relaxed her frazzled mind.

Lucia accepted Aleshia's words as truth and recognized that further explanation was only causing more pain and confusion. "Alright, that's enough of that," Lucia said. "Let's go see if the cured are doing alright. It might help take our minds off things. Depending on how successful our most recent casting of this particular cure spell was, we can learn from it and make improvements."

Seeing that Aleshia was still in a bit of a daze, Lucia took control again and guided the body to the room of the cured. Upon entering the room, Aleshia looked around at the cots to see if anyone was awake. A few moments later, she saw that someone was awake, but she did not know their name.
