Chapter 287 Skewer Stations
The group walked back to the camp, carrying several bags filled with food. As they strolled through the streets, Cecelia was becoming tempted to eat some, despite having already consumed quite a bit earlier. She struggled to resist the urge to snack on the food in her hands and managed to succeed for a time. However, despite her best efforts, her self-control began to slip.
Noticing Cecelia fidgeting and staring at the food, Liam realized the children's food was at risk of being devoured. He quickly snatched the skewers from her hands and said, "Maybe I should hang onto these." With the skewers safely in his possession, there was no longer a threat of Cecelia devouring them.
The party soon arrived at the camp. As they entered, the delicious aromas of the food they had brought wafted through the air, spreading into the various rooms and drawing a crowd of hungry children. Before chaos could erupt, Brian took charge and organized the children.
"Alright, everyone," he said, "if you want to receive your meat skewers, you need to form an orderly line. You can go to either Kelly, Liam, or Aleshia. If you wait patiently, you will be able to have a meat skewer."
At Brian's instruction, the three of them spread out. When the children lined up, they began handing out the skewers. The lines remained orderly, just as Brian had instructed, and there was no fighting or cutting in line among the kids. However, that didn't seem to be true for someone.
Although Cecelia did not think anyone would mind, she tried to hide herself in one of the lines, hoping to receive extra servings. However, Liam and Stella thwarted her efforts whenever she got close. They would say, "If you keep doing this, you'll be a bad role model for the children." Each time she faced this criticism, she would openly apologize to them but would ignore their warnings and return to the back of the line for another chance to get the food.
On Cecelia's sixth attempt, Daniel and Rebel entered the room, seemingly attracted by the smells of meat. When they noticed the line, they both understood what was happening and began to wait in line as well. They decided to line up at Aleshia's station. When they reached her, Rebel said, "It seems you have already become quite close to this group. That's good," while smiling at her.
