Judged Worthless part5
After finally arriving at the collection point, I began gathering the trash.
While sorting through it, a black sphere rolled out.
A used Skill Orb.
I decided to Appraise it, just in case.
■ Skill Orb (Used)
Can be recharged after soaking in salt water for 24 hours.
I stared at the text in front of me, completely stunned.
Huh? Rechargeable?
Up until now, Skill Orbs were universally considered single‑use items.
That was common knowledge.
But this one could be recharged?
If that were true, it would be nothing short of a Skill Orb revolution.
Materials that had always been thrown away would suddenly become valuable.
“F‑For now, I should just store it.”
I placed it into the caster‑mounted trash bin and continued collecting the remaining yellow dots on my way back to the elevator.
With that, my work for the day was finished.
It was now 2:45 PM.
Given my current status, the fifth floor was the limit of my contracted work range.
I returned to the dungeon entrance, held my permit/ID card over the sensor, and exited.
As for the magic stones I picked up, I handed the pouch containing them to the appropriate counter at the center and received a deposit slip.
I loaded the caster‑mounted trash bin into the light van parked at the entrance lot and headed back to the company.
By the way, all collected items are classified as waste because the company is contracted with the government.
The entrance sensors also scan the contents just in case.
After returning to the company, I submitted the magic stone deposit slip, checked the list of collected items on my tablet, and filed my work report.
If any of the collected items were eligible for purchase, I could submit a separate request.
With my heart pounding, I submitted the scarf I found on the 3rd floor and the Skill Orb.
Thirty minutes later, I was called to the counter.
“It’s rare for you to request a purchase, Mr. Tōdō,”
said Mayuri Mimori at the counter in her usual calm tone.
“I just liked the pattern on the scarf. I thought I’d try fixing it.”
“I see. The purchase price is 500 yen. Shall we deduct it from your salary?”
“Yes, please.”
I signed the approval form and received the scarf and Skill Orb from the counter.
From there, I headed straight to the marketplace—the shopping street.
The marketplace sells everyday goods at reasonable prices.
There are stalls offering clothing, food, and all sorts of items.
Among them is my favorite place: the sewing supply shop Mimatsuya, which caters to my hobby… sewing.
Just like the little Jizō statue’s clothes I made today, I really love fabric.
Apparently, ever since I was a child, I always kept a piece of cloth in my right hand.
I don’t remember it myself, but that’s what they told me.
My grandmother, who lived with us, was a master seamstress…
That probably explains a lot.
Lost in thought, I arrived at Mimatsuya.
“Hey, Hei‑chan, welcome,”
Yōko‑san, the shop owner, greeted me with her usual smile.
“Thanks, Yōko‑san. By the way, do you have any spider silk?”
“Oh my, that’s unusual. You asking for dungeon materials? Of course I have some. Just a moment.”
She went into the back and returned with a cardboard box.
“This is all the spider silk we have. How about it?”
When I picked up a bundle from the box, a familiar monitor appeared before my eyes.
“Huh?”
Normally, skills only activate inside the dungeon.
That’s the rule.
But the same monitor I’d seen countless times today was right in front of me.
■ Spider Silk
Quality: Normal
“Hei‑chan? What’s wrong? Is something the matter?”
Yōko‑san looked at me with concern.
“N‑No, it’s nothing. Anyway, how much is this spider silk?”
I picked up another bundle from the box.
■ Spider Silk
Quality: Highest Grade
