Star Cove Dungeon ① First Floor

スター・コーブ・ダンジョン①一階ダ

The Elite Magic Class Excursion’s main event is to traverse a dungeon and scheduled for two weeks. The first day was a bit troublesome since I had to make sure that they would see me as a supervisor. Teacher Sera had pushed the position unto me under whatever whim she has in her head. It was a successful endeavor and though they do not completely trust me, they at least listen to what I have to say.

“Okay everyone line-up!” our morning was crazy, after all we were waken by a strange commotion about a Ghost Ship. While the boys did not make too much of a fuss about it, the girls were making a slight commotion on their own. “We are lagging behind Group A, so let me finish faster.”

Teacher Sera wanted to have a competition using this ‘Dungeon Run’ and split the whole class with 25 students in two groups. She took 15 of these students under her and left me to supervise the remaining 10 students.

“Okay, you might have already figured this out.” When they finally gathered and clearly ready to listen, I needed to make sure they have what I scarcely made late last night and early this morning. “You are weak.”

Okay that might have been too blunt and not exactly accurate. Technically speaking they are not weak. In fact, they are superior mages, instead of calling them weak… more like they have a weakness, a weakness they can never overcome so long as they continue to become mages which is their ultimate goal.

“Our casting speed...” As expected from rank third in class, Magnus was right on the money, the others also nodded. Right, mages in this world have invocation in the form of a song. To cast magic, one has to sing that song in verses, each verse has an effect and completing the entire song will allow the caster to cast the strongest spell of that song.

However, singing even one verse requires time, time which in real battle, no warrior would allow as it will lead to their defeat. During the mock battle I pitted myself in, I did not hinder their invocation since I wanted them to be at their peak when they realized that they are indeed weaker than they presume.

“Because of that, I have these prepared for all of you.” Thankfully, the others also noticed this weakness and headed my words. I now presented them with the items I had prepared last night. “Since they are made of wood, they should not be too far as holding them as a staff.”

They are indeed staffs/wands. I was shocked when the monocle of item appraisal showed a different result when I prepared one last night though.

.LOG {

•Crafted a WOODEN TRIAL MAGIC AIDE STAFF version Sword

•Captain, you created a staff that looks like a sword.

•That is useless though, you should have just created a staff instead…

}

Grim-chan’s last comment is true… but somehow, she has become a little bit mean, I guess I have not been summoning her too often. I should summon her often whenever I am at sea.

Well, there you have it, and pulled out one by one STAFFs that have Weapon-like forms. What makes them Staff is that instead of raising mostly Phys STR, they raise Mag POW by 20.00% and only 10% for physical. I guess the image of me crafting them for mages changed the add-on from physical to magical.

“Wow!” While picking up the Staffs, Stella exclaimed upon inspecting it. “They have 20% add on to their Mag POW, where did you get this Rank B item?”

This is another shocker when I crafted them. My Wooden Trial Series should have been Rank E, which only have a 15% add-on. Well, I am guessing it stems from me finally getting my Woodcraft Skill Level to 10 after I read more theories about wood crafting.

“Now equip yourselves so that we can enter the dungeon.” One-by-one they pick up staffs that suited their combat preferences, as Magic Aide Equipment their magical aptitude should have raised by 20%, but my goal is for them to be proficient in combat that will put them in an advantage. “Once inside, I will provide you with more instructions.”

The Hunter guard was the same guard that had stopped me from entering a day ago. Soon enough when he noticed that I had students with me, he nodded and allowed our entry. “Took a bit of time, the other group have left to train a day ago though.”

Of course, we were lagging, under Sera先生’s supervision - Group ‘A’ should have cleared the ‘1st Area’.

Okay I need to double our time to beat that!

“No one is to go to the second floor as long as you can’t defeat the monsters here without using your magic.” This is harsh, but my goal is to make them proficient mages by being able to protect their lives when they are most vulnerable –during their invocation time.

“Hooh…” the Hunter guard paced himself towards me when he heard my instructions. “I thought that I don’t need to stay since the bombshell instructor is not here, but you are amazing in a different way.”

“Errr…”

“Don’t get the wrong idea. I love boobs more than anything else. But…” thankfully, he did not swing that way. “It’s just that, miss bombshell had ordered them to decapitate the monsters here in one go using their best magic before they could go to the second floor. I could not enjoy the view through that carnage.”

That is indeed weird. A teacher of her caliber should have made sure to inform her students of their weakness beforehand. Does she have another approach to that?

After 3 hours instructing them how to use their chosen weapons they were slicing, smashing, and piercing their ways through the monsters. Once all of them were able to do it without flinching, I then allowed them to cast magic using the techniques they have come up with their Magic Aide Staff.

I got something out if this too:

.DISCIPLE LIST {

•Len Romaria (Combat Staff)

•Ran Romaria (Dual Wield Short Swords)

•Alfred Sanctis y Fritzer (Magic Aide Staff v. saber)

•Stella Stuart (Magic Aide Staff v. long Bow)

•Kent Ardvon (Magic Aide Staff v. one handed sword)

•Anthony Gervis(Magic Aide Staff v. halberd)

•Magnus Ramirez (Magic Aide Staff v. two handed sword)

•Claire Falmot (Magic Aide Staff v. short bow)

•Emi Savil (Magic Aide Staff v. saber)

•Ray Hastings (Magic Aide Staff v. spear)

•Hisui M. Gulvan y Elmira (Magic Aide Staff v. dual wield short swords)

•Sera Celesti (Magic Aide Staff v. short bow)

}

.LOG {

•Obtaining more than 10 disciples you have leveled-up SENKIDOURYUU Master Level-up from 1 to 2

•All Passive Combat Skills are added with 1 level.

•船長, started to walk the path of not just a master by name but a master by skills. Keep up the good work.

•Ohhh! Master has a nice ring to it… maybe we should start calling you Master now instead of 船長.

}

Hmmm… we? Anyway, with Grim-chan’s cheer, I now have gotten closer to the strength that might be able to protect not just myself but others… well I should not get this in my head and proceed as I have always have had –careful.

“Okay let’s go to the next floor.”

“Ohhhh!”

*****

Although I did not teach them any of my skills, so long as they acknowledge me as their master in combat, our relationship will become master and disciple. With the increase in the number of my disciples my Mastership level in SENKIDOURYUU upped by 2 and all passive skills associated with it also increased by one:

.SENKIDOURYUU 2 {

•MASTER DUAL AXE ARTS : LVL 2

•MASTER DUAL DAGGER ARTS : LVL 3

•MASTER DUAL SWORD ARTS : LVL 3

•MASTER GREAT AXE ARTS : LVL 2

•MASTER GREAT SWORD ARTS : LVL 2

•MASTER MARTIAL ARTS : LVL 2

•MASTER ONE HANDED AXE ARTS : LVL 2

•MASTER ONE HANDED DAGGER ART : LVL 2

•MASTER ONE HANDED SWORD ARTS: LVL 3

•MASTER SCYTHE ARTS : LVL 2

•MASTER SHORT SWORD ARTS : LVL 2

•MASTER SICKLE ARTS : LVL 2

•MASTER SMALL AXE ARTS : LVL 2

•MASTER SPEAR ARTS : LVL 2

•MASTER COMBAT STAFF ARTS : LVL 3

•MASTER TWO HANDED AXE ARTS : LVL 2

•MASTER TWO HANDED SWORD ARTS: LVL 2

•RIFLE ARTS : LVL 2

•GUN ARTS: LVL 2

•DUAL GUN ARTS: LVL 2

}

If I am not mistaken, the last three skills should remain to two unless I practice with them though, I had learned the two skills by reading and gaining awareness of them. However, I have yet used them in practical combat so will be unable to master them. I can probably level up rifle skills using the Musket I got from the Nameless Dungeon since I made sure to buy a lot of gun powder in Academy City and even made an appropriate container for it in the Detachment Room –The Powder Barrel.

“Okay!” before stepping completely to the entrance of the second floor, I gave them the next set instructions. “On the second floor you will go on groups of threes.”

“Hooh…” the guard once again paced himself with me. I am guessing I have somehow impressed him yet again. “Your methods resemble pretty much like Hunters would train with fledglings, are you sure you are not a Hunter?”

“The name’s Gavil Francia.” After giving his name, he extends his hands towards mine, I really hope this guy is not into men… “Be more jubilant for I only mention my name to two types of people. One, to a woman with Huge Knockers and to others who have impressed me.”

The Hunter Gavil, is weird at best, but over all a nice guy. He is accompanying us as a guide to the second-floor entrance. However, he can’t leave the first floor as he is designated sentry for the entrance.

“Pull these strings to know who your partners will be.” Each one then pulls strings I prepared beforehand to randomly select who their teammates will be. When everyone had their turn picking up a string the pairings were as follows.

Team 1

•Alfred Sanctis y Fritzer

•Magnus Ramirez

•Hisui M. Gulvan y Elmira

Team 2

•Kent Ardvon

•Samson Gervis

•Claire Falmot

Team 3

•Emi Savil

•Ray Hastings

•Stella Stuart

Team 4

•Sara Celesti

•Sara got the end of the stick and got paired with me.

To ensure that they get the needed experience in combat the objective this time is to gather 15 Magic Cores before allowing them entrance to the third floor. This will also increase their cooperative skills.

With her ‘Summoned Being’ – [Shilva] and me as her protector, Sara was able to collect the needed Magic Cores. She was in a bad mood though, although she had opened-up to the girls, she was still especially close to Princess Hisui and remained to be conversing only to her. I am guessing she wanted to go with Princess.

While alone with this silent girl, I noticed that Sara does not show her true powers much. When we are close with other groups, she instinctively holds her power back but when we are alone, she starts to wreak havoc like there is no tomorrow.

“Sara… are you perhaps, half Elven?” I let it slip, thinking she would try to attack me but on the contrary she just sighed.

“You…. just noticed…?” Thinking about it, she does seem similar with the two I got acquainted with a while back. Ran and Len had this peculiar Aura in them whenever they use their magic. “Although small I smelled some Witches Scent on you.”

“I befriended two before coming here.” By this logic that would mean that teacher Sera is… “Then teacher Sera is also…?”

“Hmmm. Sera… stronger Witch… very old.” That comment will lead to your death soon Sara, or is she just vain since she can’t defeat those…

I am guessing that this is the reason for her holding back with her powers. HUMA and ELVEN have been enemies since time immemorial there should be strong discrimination in both societies. Teacher Sera must have pulled something in order her to get to this school. Just how much authority does she have to pull this off?

“Does the princess…” cutting my words she swayed her head slowly as if to show her sadness, she must be feeling like having betrayed the princess for not mentioning about it.

Things really like to get complicated just when I think that everything is going smoothly. Nobles and Commoners; HUMA and ELVEN… even without the CARELESS ONE Title I can’t leave the darkness this world’s society had created many eons ago.

“Shall we head to the entrance?” since there was no need to dwell on it too much so long as she can keep it as a secret, I also made sure to keep her secret with me as she answers a simple ‘Hmmm…’

We were the first of course to gather the 15 Magic Cores and found the entrance, then the Princess, third is Emi and last was Claire’s team.

Okay with this, they have acquired the battle experience and independence. Next we will go for the Dungeon Speed Run.

“Our goal is the 50th Floor.”
