Day 1 of the experiment Part 2（実験１日め）
On the first day of the experiment, I left N in the lab and moved to a nearby one-room apartment that I had rented in advance.
（実験の１日め、私はＮを実験部屋に残し、すぐ近くにある、これもまた事前に借りていたワンルームの部屋に移動しました。）
Upon entering the room, I checked the clock on the wall.
（部屋に入り、私は壁にかけてある時計を見ました。）
It was just past 9 a.m.
（時刻は、午前9時を少し過ぎたところでした。）
I then had a slightly late breakfast.
（私は、少し遅めの朝食を摂りました。）
N had already had a light breakfast before meeting up with me, so nothing was served to him this time.
（Ｎは、私と合流する前に簡単な朝食を摂ってもらっていたため、この時はＮに提供することはありませんでした。）
While eating breakfast, I looked over the paper that outlined the methods for the psychological experiment.
（私は朝食を摂りながら、今回の心理実験の方法がまとめられた用紙を眺めました。）
After that, I started working on a report for my university class.
（その後、大学の授業のレポートの作成に取りかかりました。）
I looked at the clock again and saw that it was a little after 11:30.
（再び時計を見ると、時刻は11時30分を少し過ぎたところでした。）
I stopped writing the report and started preparing lunch.
（私は、レポート作成の手を止め、昼食の準備を始めました。）
I made a little extra lunch.
（昼食は、少し多めに作りました。）
One for myself and one for N.
（私の分と、Ｎの分です。）
When lunch was ready, I took it to N first.
（昼食が出来上がると、先にＮにそれを持っていきました。）
When I arrived at N's room, I knocked on the door twice.
（Ｎの部屋に着くと、私は扉を２回ノックしました。）
N came out after a while.
（Ｎは、しばらくして出てきました。）
About three hours had passed since the experiment began, but N didn't seem particularly different.
（実験を開始して約３時間経っていましたが、Ｎは特段変わった様子はありませんでした。）
I silently handed N his lunch, and N, while a little hesitant, said thank you and accepted it.
（私が無言でＮに昼食を差し出すと、Ｎは少し戸惑いながら、ありがとうと言ってそれを受けとりました。）
I turned around without saying anything, and after a while I heard the door close behind me.
（私がそのまま何も言わずに踵を返すと、少し時間が経ってから、後ろで扉が閉まる音がしました。）
I returned to my room and ate the lunch I had prepared earlier.
（私は、自分の部屋に帰った後、先ほど拵えた昼食を摂りました。）
After that, I continued working on my report again.
（その後、再度レポートの作成を続けました。）
After finishing the report, I went for a walk in a nearby park.
（レポートを仕上げた後、私は近くの公園へ散歩に出掛けました。）
When I arrived at the park, I spent the day reading a novel on a park bench.
（公園に着いてから、私は公園のベンチで小説を読みながら過ごしました。）
After that, on the way back from my walk, I bought food for that night's dinner and tomorrow's breakfast, and then headed home.
（その後、散歩の帰りに今日の夕食と明日の朝食の食料を買い、帰宅しました。）
It was around 4pm in the evening.
（時刻は、夕方の午後４時頃でした。）
I made some more coffee and relaxed, then started preparing dinner.
（私はまたコーヒーを淹れ、ゆっくりした後、夕食の準備を始めました。）
Dinner was ready around 5pm.
（夕食が出来上がったのは、午後５時頃でした。）
I took the ready dinner and headed over to N's place.
（私は、出来上がった夕食を持ち、Ｎの所へ向かいました。）
I arrived at N's room and knocked on the door twice again.
（そして、Ｎの部屋に着き、また扉を２回ノックしました。）
N came out the door after a while.
（Ｎはしばらくして、扉から出てきました。）
I silently handed him the dinner, and again N accepted it with a hesitant look on his face.
（私が無言で夕食を渡すと、Ｎはまた、戸惑いながらそれを受けとりました。）
"Is it really okay for me to spend my time like this?"
（「本当にこんな感じで過ごしていて良いのか？」）
N asked, looking at me.
（Ｎは、私の顔を見て、そう言いました。）
I just said "yes," and left N's room again.
（私は、ああ、とだけ言い、またＮの部屋を後にしました。）
N still looked like he wanted to say something, but in the end he said nothing and closed the door.
（Ｎは、まだ何か言いたそうな顔をしていましたが、結局何も言わず、扉を閉めました。）
I went back to my room, ate dinner, watched a little TV, and then went to bed.
（私は自分の部屋に戻り、夕食を食べ、少しテレビを見て、その後に就寝しました。）
