Chapter Four Becoming Lovers
After that, Eiko got arrested. Youichi cried as she was taken away by the police.
Good bye, Eiko... Minami felt something complicated as well. If Eiko noticed Youichi’s feeling of love earlier, none of these murder cases would have occurred... Minami came close to crying as she thought of the sad ending of Eiko and Youichi’s love.
A few days later, Minami asked Hideki to come to the roof of the school building.
“What’s up?”
“Hideki, um... I’ve been kind of shy and hesitant to say it aloud, but now I feel I can say it. I want to say it now. I love you, Hideki. Won’t you please go out with me?” Minami asked. She closed her eyes and tears rolled over her cheek.
Hideki smiled warmly.
“Thanks. I’ve been feeling the same way too, but I couldn’t say it to you either. Now that you said it for me, I feel happy. Thanks Minami.”
Minami and Hideki embraced and kissed under the beautiful orange sky of dusk.
After that, many couples were born. Mr. Ohta and Ms. Yamamoto. Policeman Kishi and Policewoman Ikegami. John Matsushita and Yui Mishima. To everyone’s surprise, Ayano and Jun.
Everyone gathered in the gymnasium and enjoyed the Christmas party. The old couple Reina and Daichi and the new couple Minami and Hideki also came.
They all danced, talked, ate delicious food and had the time of their lives. Everybody cherished the happiness they gained from showing each other their love.
