PROLOGUE 03 – Der Tag Das Schicksals(運命の日)
Behind the Dream Drive Device was a scrawny teen, a face of an average boy, as he scratched his kinky black hair to get rid of the uncomfortable feeling of the Dream Drive Device worn on his head. Looking at the mirror his camomile eyes greeted him. He was neither tall nor was he short, just as mentioned, he was just any average teen, His kayumangi (a tone of brown) gave way to the Malay Race, a Filipino in the small country, Philippines.
After he had successfully logged out from 11 Gates he then took his black trench coat to protect him from the dreary cold rain of December.
From his house, it was a 30-minute walk to where Tina’s house was, but with the heavy rain and the flooded street it took Raul those very minutes just to get halfway through, in the town square where the only television repair shop was located, since the rain was not going to stop anytime soon he decided to take shelter hoping to let the rain pass.
This was when fate had entervined with the normal daily lives of many people.
“Breaking News” the regular anime program that was airing just got cut off. NewsBreaks were done at regular intervals of thirty minutes, usually it will be done during a well timed commercial break. But for some reason, it had pre-empted a show, many of the show’s sponsors were probably screaming right about now.
“Emergency warning!” The news anchor’s voice was also written below just like a subtitle, it was flashing in bright red color and with font size was intimidatingly getting your attention, and for a good readon.“For all those who have Dream Drive Gears for the game 11 Gates, you are strongly advised from logging in on the game.”
Just by hearing the words Dream Drive… 11 Gates… and stop logging in… had Raul’s heart raced erratically. He never did like watching the daily news as recently, it was really just the same news about politicians and bad economy. However, for some reason Raul’s eyes and ears were strangely glued on the news.
“As of 10:46:12 Standard Philippine Time, an unknown virus has been spread online trapping gamers nationwide, this has been confirmed by ‘eMnemosyne World Corporation – Philippines’, as countless parents and friends alike have endlessly called the product support department for troubleshooting.”
As if that was not the only bad news, the co-anchor pre-empts the anchor with more shocking news it would seem that it was not only happening in the Philippines… Japan… China… Korea… even in the United States… similar incidents have occurred which had given a worldwide panic to parents and guardians.
This was a nightmare was a nightmare. Many were in a state of panic, Raul was the same, his body froze but a jolt had crept inside him which took a couple of minutes to recover… ‘Maya! Tina!’
Raul’s running speed undermined the weather, he needed to get to Tina’s house where his sister and friend should be diving inside the game. Soon enough, the house became visible.
As soon as he arrive, the whirls from the sirens of patrol cars and ambulances finally registered to his ears. Upon closing in, Raul saw his aunt Bella, his and Maya’s only living relative… she was crying and for some reason, she was stopping Raul from getting close to the medics who had have carried both Maya and Tina into the ambulance, probably taking them to the hospital.
After that everything was in utter chaos… it was not doomsday or the end of the world, but… it might as well be.
