このドイツの大型ワンボックスカーは3.7lのパワーで、高速走行も楽。張り付くように路面を駆る。道路が走る者に同じスペースを許すのなら、より大きい車内空間で移動したほうが快適だ。リビングのソファが移動する感じがいい。だから後席のシートはすべて外した。空いた長いスペースにはヘリノックスのコットがジャストサイズ。ハリのいい寝床には、低反発シートをひき、タオル地のシーツでくるむ。軽いダウンのコンフォーターで、スリーピングコーナーは完成。床には厚く柔らかなラグマット。そこに愛用のアームチェアとクッションを運び込んだ。靴は一段下がったステップで脱ぐルールにし、リビング化させた。左右とリアの窓に吸盤でシェードを付け、運転席側をゴブラン織の布で仕切ると、小さな寝室が出来上がる。電池式のランタンを天井にぶら下げると、傘の下だけに光が広がり、リビング感が増す。
コットに横になってからの時間は、想像を巡らすひと時。読書やネットで世界を巡る。
車の外は森林だが、手元のタブレットにはベニスビーチの波が映る。夢は枯野を駆け巡り、微睡へと旅する。
