Awakening of Power
Welcome to Chapter 5 of Akira’s journey in Caldera. In this chapter, he discovers his true powers, unlocks his status, and gains his first skill, setting the stage for survival and strategy in this dangerous world.
Akira sat by the small fire in the cabin, the warmth pushing back the chill of the evening. Shadows flickered across the walls as he turned over one of the fragile books on herbs, trying to commit every detail to memory.
His mind, however, kept drifting back to the glowing herb he had used on his shoulder. It had healed him, and faster than anything he could remember from Earth.
He clenched his hand and stared at it. If plants could have such power, what else might this world hold? The thought excited him, but it was also terrifying.
He had already faced undead creatures, survived the forest, and stumbled upon a village destroyed by unknown forces. Now he had to understand not just the environment, but himself.
Tentatively, Akira whispered, “There has to be a way to know more. Something to help me survive.”
He remembered the faint floating words that had appeared when he first arrived in Caldera, welcoming him. They had disappeared instantly, but maybe there was more hidden.
He focused his mind and placed both hands on the floor, imagining a connection with the world around him.
A soft glow appeared before his eyes. Startled, he jumped back, but the light formed into a translucent screen hovering in front of him. Words and numbers flickered, arranging themselves carefully.

Akira blinked.
He was trembling.
Numbers and letters floated in midair, revealing information about him that he could barely process. Level 16? How could he have a level when he felt like an ordinary boy just a few days ago?
He stared at the skill description. Summon goblins. The idea seemed absurd, but the clarity in the screen told him it was real.
He hesitated, then whispered the command he had read in the description.
A faint rustle sounded behind him. Before he could react, three small goblins materialized from thin air. Their green eyes blinked, their movements cautious but obedient.
Akira froze, heart pounding. They looked almost like the creatures he had seen in the ruined village, but smaller, less threatening.
“This… this is my power,” he muttered, voice shaking. “I can control them. I can survive… if I learn how to use this.”
He reached out, and the goblins responded, gathering around him.
The feeling was strange, yet reassuring. For the first time since waking in Caldera, he felt a spark of control.
Akira exhaled deeply. Survival was no longer just about avoiding danger. It was about understanding the rules of this world and learning to wield them.
His journey had truly begun.
