4-20 “The soul creates, the mind reacts”
4-20 “The soul creates, the mind reacts”
--------------------
> A life lived by choice is a life of conscious action. A life lived by chance is a life of
unconscious reaction. Reaction is just that—an action you have taken before. When
you “re-act,” what you do is assess the incoming data, search your memory bank for
the same or nearly the same experience, and act the way you did before. This is all
the work of the mind, not of your soul.
>
> Remember this: the soul creates, the mind reacts.
>
> The soul knows in Its wisdom that the experience you are having in This Moment is
an experience sent to you by God before you had any conscious awareness of it.

In *Conversations with God*, we are encouraged to "stop reacting and start creating."
To react means to face life's events through old thoughts, old beliefs, or ideas adopted from others. In this state, circumstances take the leading role, and we merely follow their direction.
To create, on the other hand, means to approach events consciously with new thoughts and our own authentic perspective. Rather than being controlled by circumstances, we become active participants in shaping our experience.
Every event in our lives can be viewed as a tool for growth and self-discovery. Each situation presents an opportunity to express who we really choose to be.
When something unexpected happens in your daily life—a minor accident, a disappointment, or hurtful words from a friend—pause for a moment and ask yourself:
"Who do I choose to be in relation to this?"
Perhaps you choose to be patient.
Perhaps you choose to be understanding.
Perhaps you choose to be forgiving.
Once you have made that choice, make a conscious effort to embody that state of being.
When we continually strive to become a higher version of ourselves, guided by awareness rather than habit, we are no longer reacting to life. We are creating it.
