4-4 “You will not grow through guilt”
4-4 “You will not grow through guilt”
--------------------
> Regret is your announcement that you did not demonstrate your highest idea about who you are.
>
> Guilt is your decision that you are not worthy of doing so ever again.
>
> (Friendship With God, Chapter 10)
---
> Guilt is a blight upon the land—the poison that kills the plant.
>
> You will not grow through guilt, but only shrivel and die.
>
> Awareness is what you seek. But awareness is not guilt, and love is not fear.
>
> ( CWG 3:11)
--------------------
Even if something you have done did not go well, you must not conclude that you are beyond hope.
There is absolutely no need to condemn yourself as a worthless person or to carry guilt about who you are.
Regret and guilt are not the same.
Regret can lead to reflection and learning, but guilt only diminishes you and serves no constructive purpose.
Belittling yourself or labeling yourself as “a bad person” contributes nothing to your growth.
If you stop there—or worse, retreat—you risk losing the precious opportunity that life offers: the chance to experience, to learn, and to evolve.
Instead, reflect sincerely on what happened.
If repentance is needed, allow it to arise—then let the past go.
Release attachment, and move forward anew.
When you do this, even failure itself becomes a teacher, offering lessons that support your growth rather than hinder it.
