(2) The character of God (Neale's point of view)
(2) The character of God (Neale's point of view)
The character of God from Neale's point of view is described as follows.
1) God has a sense of humor.
┌----------
God: Think you that God cannot laugh? Do you imagine that God does not enjoy a good joke? Is it your knowing that God is without humor? I tell you, God invented humor.
(pdfCWG1-P45)
└----------
2) God makes and watches movies.
┌----------
Neale: God goes to the movies?
God: God makes movies.
Neale: Whoa.
(pdfCWG3-P56)
└----------
3) God doesn't get angry when we disagree.
┌----------
God: Are you finding it more difficult to agree with some of the things said here?
Neale: Well…
God: Because if you are, that’s very okay.
Neale: It is?
God: Of course.
Neale: It’s okay to disagree with God?
God: Certainly. What do you think I’m going to do, squash you like an insect?
(pdfCWG2-P151)
└----------
4) God’s love is unconditional.
┌----------
God: A feeble attempt would call it the feeling of being warmly embraced, deeply comforted, dearly cherished, profoundly appreciated, genuinely treasured, softly nurtured, profoundly understood, completely forgiven, wholly absolved, long waited, happily welcomed, totally honored, joyously celebrated, absolutely protected, instantly perfected, and unconditionally loved--all at once.
(pdfHWG-P232)
└----------
5) God cares for human beings, comforts them, and inspires them.
┌----------
Neale: I think my greatest fear is that I will prove to be an inadequate, inappropriate "spokesperson" for God, given the seemingly endless series of mistakes and misdeeds which have marked my life and characterized my behavior.
God, I ask that You relieve me of my duties as Your scribe, and that You find someone whose life renders them worthy of such an honor.
God: You must learn to be gentle with yourself. And stop judging yourself.
Indeed, you are one of the best ambassadors, because you have lived your life in a way that you call less than perfect.
People can relate to you—even as they judge you. And if they see that you are truly sincere, they can even forgive you your "sordid past."
