Chapter 9: Shift I pt1
The two guards are sitting on the surveillance room in the facility. The entire room has holographic screens covering every sector of the room.
「UGH, why do we need to come to this facility, anyway it should be my day off?」
「Quit complaining Clarence, they giving us overtime pay for this.」
「 But still, why do we need this many people to guard a facility?」
「Our boss said it was an important thing tonight.」
「What’s the important thing? He’s not even here to see it happen. Plus, no one is going to be here; not once did I see anyone sneak into the mountains?」
「Well… the boss said it was important and from what I gathered I think it’s this thing over here.」
Both leaned towards the screen, looking at a dome like room with a large cylindrical tank. An old scientist running in the corridor holding his tablet towards a mysterious door. He urgently punches the button to open the door. The door opens vertically, revealing a control room filled with guards and scientists. Huffing and puffing, he sluggishly drags his body towards the control panels in front of the glass panel, looking over the tank.
「I…. I made it.」
「So you finally made it Nikola.」
「Well sorry about that sir, I was so engrossed with another project of mine that I completely forgot about the time. But I can see that you are not here, sir.」
「It’s quite unfortunate I can’t be here in person. But there is something I have to deal with at home.」
「Is it your daughter? You are always too protective of her.」
「It’s quite necessary for her to never escape from my grasp. She is a quite valuable asset; I can’t let an uneducated rat to poison her. Besides that, remember Nikola; this is quite important, he gave us this job so you better not mess it up. Anyway, I must go now, I have other business to attend to.」
He nods before sitting down in front of the panels while the screen shuts off; on the surface, the scientist was calm; his body started sweating. He tugs the coat, trying to cool himself off before stretching both of his arms forwards while clasping both of his hands.
「Hey, you two, get into the dome now; we need you to open the tank.」
The two guards saluted and marched towards the door. Soon after, they appear in the dome marching towards the front of the tank. Nikola grabs the small microphone closer to his mouth.
「Guards, when the time hits zero, can you please open the tank?」
Both guards saluted and waited for the time. It has currently ten seconds left. The time ticks slowly, each second the more cautious they get, Nikola is dripping with sweat. It ticks to five seconds. Guards slowly approached the tank; one of the guard’s hands starts shaking uncontrollably while the other readied up slowly stepping closer while his whole body is leaning back.
The timer ticks from three, then two, then finally hits one. Onee of the guards floats his hands towards the screen. The timer finally hits zero; he pressed the screen lightly, creating a prompt reading open. One guard taps it and before long, the upper lid of the tank rises. The hiss intensified, a steady whisper of escaping cold, as the gap widens.
A faint, ethereal mist, colder and denser than the ambient air, began curling from the opening, swirling like phantom tendrils before dissipating. As the tank finally opened and locked into place with a soft, metallic thud, the last wisps of vapor cleared. A tall naked woman slowly leaned forwards out of the tank before collapsing in front of the guards. The guard slowly turned her body over, revealing her face properly. Her long blonde hair and well-defined physique were striking. The guards were stunned by her looks.
「Hey boss, you said this was important, right? This is just a woman.」
Nikola's body eased up while wiping the sweat off of his forehead. He grabs his tablet and starts scrolling towards a bunch of test information.
「Yes, but who she is important, we already tried multiple modifications to her memory so we should be able to control -」
The woman's eyes snap open, revealing her aqua coloured eyes. Although it is beautiful, they are completely dead with no hint of life showing through them She jumped up onto her feel and slowly looking around her surroundings. Nikola freaks out before clearing his throat.
「Hello madam, I am Nikola, your saviour; you were stuck in that coffin of yours. Although it took a while, we finally set you free from your prison. Now I know it is sudden but I would like to request-」
Her head snaps towards Nikola with an intimidate look scaring him. His body starts sweating again while panting.
「I know you must be confused, and a little intimidated, but we are here to help you.」
She slowly lowers her guards before closing her eyes, easing the tension built up on his body.
「Good, now guards, can you please escort her towards the training facility?」
Nikola loosens up his body, letting all the stress out of his body while slowly slides down his chair. The guards walked towards the exit but instantly realised that she did not follow them. She stood at the same spot, not moving an inch. One guard sighed before walking back towards the woman.
「C’mon, you heard what the scientist said, let’s go.」
He grabs her arm, trying to drag her, but she still stands her place. Suddenly her eyes open, snapping her head towards the guard, trying to drag her. She grabs the guard's helmet and slams it onto the ground, creating a large fiery crater igniting the guard's entire body. The screams of agony from the guard alerts Nikola instantly tensing up while the other guard slowly backs off, shaking to his very core.
The woman stands up and snaps her head towards the other guard. She slowly walked towards the guard with each step, creating more fear towards the guard, making him fall to the ground. She stopped right in front of him and slowly leaned towards his face, looking straight into his eyes. In an instant, he loses consciousness. She taps onto the helmet, knocking him over. Nikola grabs onto the small microphone while pressing buttons onto the control panel.
The woman stood up and closed her eyes again while tapping on the floor once with her right foot. The guards of the control room slowly approached Nikola, ready to protect him from any danger. She slowly breathed in and out while Nikola breathed heavily. The only thing he could hear was his heart pumping faster and faster.
Not before long, she gradually opened her eyes, revealing her golden eyes, causing the entire atmosphere around the dome to lose sound. The glass frame separating the woman and Nikola instantly shatters towards him.
「CODE RED, I REPEAT CODE RED!」
The guards instantly grabbed Nikola and dragged him out of the room while sheglared at him. With a hiss, the massive door to the dome slid upwards, revealing a phalanx of guards who immediately marched to surround the mysterious woman. The larger guards stood steadily in front, holding their large black shields in front of their bodies with one hand while the other hand holding a long baton pointing towards the ground. The guards holding the staff are at the back, holding their magical staff with both hands while pointing it towards her.
Although they have readied up to fight, each one of them is hesitant on taking the offense. The woman looks around her surroundings, observing the area. She slowly raises her hand towards. The middle of her chest and lightly tapped it. A large gust of wind emerges out of her body slightly, pushing the guards back, revealing a dress made of each different magical element. She exhales out of her mouth and readies up to fight.
