Chapter 53-1
Inside the bus were the second grade students, their new homeroom teacher Yuriko Mizuki, Ryosaku, a young female bus guide, and the bus driver.
The second-year students were chatting and enjoying their time in their own way, but it didn't have the fun atmosphere of a " field trip."
This trip had the element of an "excursion trip," as they visited tourist spots in City A, where Teacher Suzuki was born, and had lunch at a "soba restaurant." However, it was clear that the main purpose was to "visit Teacher Suzuki's grave."
Not a single child was having fun.
Ryosaku was about to finish reading his teacher's letter while on the bus, so he chose a seat at the very back and took up a lonely position.
From here, he casually observes all the children sitting in front of him...Mieko's close friends and the rest of the group...all of them are absorbed in reminiscing about the kind teacher Suzuki.
When they first heard that Teacher Suzuki had passed away, everyone was depressed, and many of them cried at every opportunity in the schoolyard and classroom, but as time passed, their deep sadness gradually healed. There was a solemn, calm atmosphere inside the bus.
As the bus pulled onto the expressway and the scenery turned monotonous, Ryosaku took out the letter from his teacher and carefully cut the top off horizontally, being careful not to tear the letter inside.
What Ryosaku saw was his teacher's nostalgic handwriting, written with a fountain pen.
