[You're a daring girl]
Bird by Bird - Anne Lamont
“… We’re about to be attacked by an army of monsters. Is that right Satou-san?”
“No. Monsters that successfully escape a dungeon and conquer it’s nearing human settlement are classified as [Demons] and it is these Demons that are coming our way. I must also correct that this may not an be army as the unit size is that of a company of “male” demons. That is my report, Cho Min-san.) (Hana)
This is a terrible situation. Monsters that escape a dungeon are called [Escapees] but when an Escapee conquers the nearby human settlement and the power of its existence explosively grows from that it even, we have a [Demon]: the tormentors and predators of Humans. There is also the case of when a Dungeon is born in a place outside of human knowledge and the monsters inside outgrow their birth den but that does not mean that threat level of their existences is any less in comparison.
Both the monster that devour a human settlement and the monster that knows not of a human settlement are rightfully called Demons. The Demon born from feasting on humans would have seen an individual growth in power and the Demon that grew without humans would have seen a collective growth in power. I have yet to come to a conclusion as to which type of Demon we are currently dealing with.
“… Any word from the Sage?” (Cho Min)
“No. I chose to immediately report to the leaders of this Town first because we would eventually need your support, regardless of the plan we put in place.” (Hana)
“But now you have come to us with no plans and tell us to calmly cooperate?” (Cho Min)
“Rather than fighting for a plan made for the people, I myself want to fight alongside people who fight for the plan.” (Hana)
[No, what are you saying?] (God)
Right now, the town is still tearing itself apart. If we were to bring a plan to them, there would be arguments and deserters. I believe that the plan would not work because we are mot dealing with people who would work together. It is much wiser to use the time we have now to clarify who is it we can work with and then with those people, set the goals we can aim to reach in this crisis.
“… ‘You yourself’? So you have no authority within your group to be speaking to me?” (Cho Min)
“Yes. I will be responsibility for my actions. In turn, give us not a fighting force but a cooperative force.” (Hana)
