"Can't have you too surprised."
No rules Rules - Reed Hastings; Erin Meyer
"It won't work."
"What?"
After the meeting with the ruler of the Panda-ear clan, where back at the inn owned by //omnivorous asian creature//. I've had enough time to grasp what was said and how I can be apart of it. Now, I just have to convince these invaders to let me in - that it won't wwork without me.
"You're invasion into Mesop - it won't work."
"That sounds bad in people's ears. We're making diplomatic exchanges on behalf of our compatriots who can't make an appearance, yet."
"And it's that 'yet' that's not going to work out. I'm sure Hana-san has told you - how uncooperative the clans are? How that your arrival and the changes you made did not stop the [Blood War] but actually through oil in the fire."
""""......""""
"You've all had a chat with the guildmaster, so you already know that she's going to fail conquering the dungeon even though the plan you gave here was foolproof."
"... And why's that, might I ask?"
"Because you only gave her the plans on how you, Embler party, are going to conquer it. Not how she, a Panda-ear, can."
"What's that got to do with adventuring?"
"Everything. You only have a four-man team by which the panda-ears that are active adventurers outnumber you by at least fifteen-fold. But their all just panda-ears - you have an elf, a human, a giant, and a little girl(?). Not to mention that each of you have jobs that are hardly known our seen to people. You have tactics and abilities that goes beyond one race, one sex, or nation - your power is the difference that each of you bring to the party. They'll never have that."
"All the same, the panda-ears are the ones who have power and nobody else seems able to best or equal them. Meaning that they are the of this town and the best bet for the locals to best this dungeon. The roof of that being that their the only clan that hasn't [migrated]."
When he mentions that, it's hard to argue. [Migration] is the feeling of human settlements from monster stampedes. When a monster escapes the dungeon, they throw the nearest settlement into chaos and their existenceonly grows larger, stronger. They soon develop intelligence and collect the corpses to cultivate its own clan - by feeding those bodies into the dungeon it was born from. This appears to be a necessary action for the monster as the guild says that the monster learnt that it canot breed with lesser existences (existences at a level lower than the bare minimum - humans) but it does know that one can strengthen their own existence.
What this means for humans is that monsters that are male-only species, goblins and orcs, will raid the human settlements with the intent to breed the woman, of all ages, and feast on the men - less work than strentgthen weak bretheren from scratch. And monsters with balanced sexes or asexual nature, dragons and slime, will work towards strengthening their dungeon and its surrounding territory. All these collapsed lans are called [Monster Nests].
"Yes. But one doesn't need to be strong to fight monsters. Isn't that right... Jin Embler."
"... That may be the first time you ever used my name..."
"Your weapons, strategies and social engagements are all done from a weaker position than your opponents."
"Ignoring me..."
"You've created many means to communicate with others beyond just conversations. For battle: hand signals, visual signs based on particular attacks of teammates and tactic calls that were agred upon before battle. For humans: body language and phrasing, learning the local dialects and territories and powers, and persuasive lanuage. And for the people back at your home: You use written language and tamed monsters to send private messages that can't be traced or suspected by border guards."
"How did you--"
"Hana let me see it."
"Hana-tan?!"
"I know that I have skill in information gathering and protecting myself doing that. And its because of those skills, I know that when I'm tailing Hana and actually get away with it - its because she allowed it. Just wasn't sure if she was doing at your orders."
"Is this true, Hana-chan?"
"I'm sorry. But I believe I couldn't let you know what Halter-san was doing."
"... Was it because you thought she was helpful?"
"Yes, Terese-san. I've made my report on how I could not find any help here. But, I did find only one person who was used to working with people different from herself. And, they are people who worked with Jin-niisan and Celia-san."
""Really?""
"Yes. A party of a Bull beastman, a male elf and--"
"""AH."""
"... It seems you do know them."
"Yeah. Kinda."
"'We just know eachh other from work' is the only way to put it."
"Agreed. I wouldn't to be grouped together with them, if I can help it. But that's not important, what is is the major change you're about to bring to Mesop. Not as embler party but as the Laconia Kingdom, right?"
...
......
"... Empire."
"Sorry?"
"It's Laconia empire now. They've... expanded."
"!!"
"Hey, I can't have yu too surprised. You asked to be a part of this and I'll tell you: it's big but moves fast. For now, its nighcrawling between two nations but soon enough, it'll walk around like it owns the place - because it will. So keep up."
This might be more than can imagine... but I won't let it be more than I can handle!
