"I’ll cut them off”
The 48 Laws of Power - Robert Greene
Monsters are charging down the slope of the second floor in the dungeon, running straight into a dodgy looking-pink mist. The mist is a spell for melting things down and it was made by Ojoutan.
Between me and the dust heaps that used to be golems, it’s Ojoutan with her back to those former [Leptocyon Golems]. Scary.
"Since magic becomes more powerful if you have more mana, the common sense is that those with large mana are more powerful and can cast more powerful magic. This idea is correct but comes with a subtle misunderstanding." (Ojoutan)
"Misunderstanding?"
A panda-ear adventurer in her late 20s adventurer with stern, hooded eyes questions Ojoutan and her shoulders twitch nervously. I thought that she was out of her element teaching lots of people (the just joined us without asking) but it seems that isn’t the case.
"How many people have mana energy to begin with? Even here in Mesop, the non-adventures won’t all have Mana or lots of it if they do.
Difference in race and sex may be present but we can’t measure or even tell if there is a difference. Rather than look at what makes us different, it would be best to judge mana and how he use it (magic) by what we have in common.
Jin-niisan is my master and he’s a Sage currently investigating what we have in common. So far he has identified that emotions and logic are what we have in common and both are fundamental to magic." (Ojoutan)
"... I don't get it!"
Another wolf-eared middle-aged man with wide-set eyes yells with a confused face. His face was harsh from the beginning so his scrunching his brow just makes Ojoutan blue in the face.
If this goes on, the strangers that came up to this floor at their own convenience will ridicule Ojoutan even though they never asked her for guidance. It's about time I bring everyone's attention to 'that'.
"Does this lesson have to do with those dusted Golems right behind you, Ojoutan?"
Did you think I wouldn’t bring it up? I've been wondering why she didn’t teach me outside of the dungeon and brought me in here instead.
And that dog is unnatural! Why do they become dust and not goop?!
Most of them are turned to rubble from the fog but not all of them. Those that make it through the fog are a mess and easy for Leader to shoot down. Jin-boy and Anego look bored.
"Yes! Behind me is an example of magic - the use of mana, [Weathering]. Relatively little mana to cast this magic but has an amazing effect.
In an adventure, you're lucky to have huge mana for long and luck isn't something we should rely on. The best bet for us is magic, something we can learn, practice and plan on where and how we use.
Magic can remove the need for one person to have a large mana pool because a party of adventurers can make up for that by using their numbers, meaning more than one mana pool and their difference in abilities and sex and race. Even species with notoriously low mana pools can cast amazing magic if they take the time to learn." (Ojoutan)
"I see, so even I can cast powerful magic..." (Halter)
"Aren't you hoping for too much, runt?" (Wolf-kemonomimi)
"As?" (Halter)
"You tiny omnivore. A pest so weak that you eat plants to survive, you can barely hunt meat for your own meals.
From where could you draw the strength to cast magic? Those bags of fat stored on your childish ribs?" (Wolf-kemonomimi)
"You've got balls, mutt. I’ll cut them off for you!" (Halter)
After this, Ojoutan and I would be adventuring with the Embler party that was on break. The wolf whose inner thighs I slashed (lucky) took off for the guild and the other adventurers went their own ways.
Some tried to follow us but Leader told us to let them be. 'Even if they knew how We do things, it doesn't mean they have what it takes to do exactly as we do' so she said.
The number of injured rose that day because of ‘Imitation’. And the human golem was reaching the 6th floor.
