The only good that came

Why has Nobody told me This before? - Dr Julie Smith

My welcoming party and following day’s training session went without hitch. It was decided that my in-formation party role would be mid guard when not scouting, protecting the rear as Jin-boy assists the front.

It’s the day after training and we’ve entered the first floor of the Golem tower. When I explained that there were 12 floors and the order of the golems, Jin-boy said they followed some Chinese calendar or whatever.

"It really is like a pig~.” (Leader)

That's what the Leader (Celia) with her upturned, green eyes said as she gazed into the entrance of the first floor in the [Golem Tower]. Golems that match my eye level (short build like a child but curves of a proper woman!) their numbers 14 times that of our five-man band.

"I'm grateful when I think that we took our time touring beginner dungeons before coming here. I would have given up just at the sight of these pigs..." (Jin-boy)

I see, so Leader has led her party through beginner dungeons before coming to Mesop and judging by how Jin-boy only complains but isn’t running, they conquered those very dungeons and at least grew the mettle they needed to face of against this professional tower. What you'd expect from the party that that Cho Cho (Cho Min) is watching closely.

"This [Golem Tower] is a professional dungeon: different from beginner dungeons. Only adventurers that have cleared at least one beginner dungeon can survive.

Think that the monsters on this first floor are equal in strength to the monsters just before the boss room of any [Beginner dungeon] you've conquered."

'As we go up to the 4th floors, the monsters surpass even [Dungeon Boss] of beginner dungeons' is what I'm implying. My words came off a little prickly because I intend to know who I will be working with.

I can't be teaming up with playboy Jin-boy and his harem only for them to leave me when it counts just cause I won't be his woman. For a slave, He has too much freedom.

I have the means to deal with them all if that happens but that does not mean I want to be in that circumstance.

"Indeed, this is the violence of numbers. To make the best use of the numbers, the dungeon has a simple oval structure. As soon as we walk into the room, it's those pig-monster’s advantage and even those beasts should understand that." (Anego)

Anego (Terese) said as she stands before us all with her hooded, red eyes strongly staring down the monsters. She’s stands right in front of me, blocking the view of the monsters inside.

I don't think she did it on purpose but seeing a large, confident back instead of a vicious monster den is reassuring. The other members also seem to shift gears from her attitude.

"Everyone! Two monsters at the back of the room are fighting!" (Ojoutan)

"""""!!""""" (Embler party)

At Ojoutan’s (Hana) call, we move. I have already briefed the party about the floors and the monsters at the party.

During training they shared their gameplan with me, so we don't need to talk any further. More like I should stay out of their way now.

"Terese, Jin." (Leader)

""Ou"" (Anego, Jin-boy)

Anego and Jin-boy form a defensive line on our left diagonally just before us and we all move into the Dungeon. Soon as Anego set her foot in, the pigs turned their attention to her and attack, including the duelists in the back.

That was close - monsters can't leave their floors because their [Existence] is too weak to survive outside of the floor, so they become cannibals to strengthen their own [Existence]. Letting monsters fight each other is no different than allowing your enemies to gain a new power to kill you.

These [Entelodont Golems] look like pigs but are golems with a far more vicious build than boars. They only charge in a straight line and use their bulky bodies to tackle you and bite into their prey soon as it collapses on the ground.

As the Vanguards hold the line on our left, an opening on our right is opened. Five Entelodonts turned into it as if herded there. And charge.

"As if I'd let you!" (Leader)

Leader fires off arrows into the eyes of the Entelodonts that get too close and us uses wood magic to bind their corpses and block the pigs further back. For golems, their gem-eyes are their cores which are weak while the rest of their body is sturdy.

Leader is conserving energy by only using her magic on blocking the entire herd. It’s my first time seeing a [Magic Archer], and this quite the sight…

"Hana-chan, buy me some time!" (Jim-boy)

"Hai!" (Ojoutan)

Jin-not stabs both eyes of a pig and wrestles its fresh corpse to the ground, making it lie in front of the next charging pig to protect himself and repeats. Anego smashes their skulls with her mace and already has four corpses lined up to match with every two that Jin-boy makes. While they strengthen the defensive line with the five corpses, Ojoutan creates [Water clones] with a slimy appearance that launches themselves at the pigs, bind them and then drag them towards the piles that Leader, Anego and Jin-boy made.

A “^” shaped barricade is made and we know have breathing room. From here on, we all take slingshots and bows and magic to blow off pigs heads out break the green-eyes - a new way of hunting (not fighting) monsters.

?! Actually, when I look closer, the Water balls are moving like slimes. I know this because I had slimes in my old village.

I don’t like, no, I hate slimes. I don’t want those things near but I have to work with Ojoutan to survive this dungeon.

"Hana-chan, [Water clon- jutsu] is off-limits!" (Jin-boy)

"? Yes!" (Ojoutan)

Good job! I don't think it's right for a slave to shout at their superiors but it seems that nobody is against this man's behaviour and this time it was a good call.

It seems that He is quite favoured and obeyed in this party - If I want to live, I better keep my thoughts to myself. I’ll ignore “why” he stopped Ojoutan from using a powerful spell because he definitely wasn’t looking at my attitude.

Soon enough, the floor becomes quiet and we gather up our loot into these “kadees” that Jin-boy had each of us pull along. It’s great that we don’t have to carry luggage as the wheels on the “kadees” makes it easy just to pull or push your own luggage.

We're still at the entrance of the room, with a barrier completed at It’s door. Other adventurers are gonna notice this but I think they should shut up about it - Monsters can’t hurt you anymore and we can still beat them up.

… I didn’t have a chance to perform. My in formation role is to assist and protect Leader and Ojoutan since they aren’t great in close combat but they are quick in responding to approaching monsters - I guess not having a job is better than actually being swarmed by pigs.

I-It should be fine! I've already cleared this floor and others after that so I'm not a weakling.

And they couldn't have made such tactics without the information that I provided! Tha-That's right.

"Easy money is best~!" (Celia)

A-Amazing. This isn’t professional-level adventuring anymore - this veteran class.

I see now why that panda wants me guiding(?) them. There’s more to learn than to teach and honestly, they no longer need my help or advice since I already explained the dungeon and they’ve already made strategies for each floor.

In order to pass through these floors, I had to team up with a annoying party of bull, an elf and a human. Even then the best we could do was to sprint our way through bullishly and that reached its limit at the 10th floor.

We had to retreat and I didn't like that and went back up for a bit on my own and then I got entangled with some scummy bear-kemonomimi. It was terrible!

The only good that came out of that is that there’s less scum in the world. But now I have to deal with the [Humanoid Golem] roaming around on the 9th floor - a monster that ate the scummy bears and is trying to escape the dungeon.

I’m lucky that the members of this party don't want to break a sweat. They make a plan beforehand and reuse the monsters’ corpses as weapons to increase their chances, even if it means that they couldn’t cash it in later.

I mean, these barriers look like they would last since the golems won't rot and this only makes it easier for other adventurers to use the barriers but nobody will pay Embler party for their work. We'll just use it like we were meant to have it.

My first joint battle with the veteran-class [Embler party] ended with a dull silence as we harvested the corpses that didn’t make the barriers. Apparently a crowd of onlookers had formed behind us but no cheers or jeers were made.
