5.We can’t do it anyway～どうせできない～
They started doing manzai around Weeds Island. At first, people didn’t laugh. But people who laughed started increasing.
Shinki, Suntom and Fuma kept doing manzai. Zai kept making manzais. People became cheerful.
Shinki: “I’m glad everyone became happy.”
Suntom: “Me, too.”
Fuma: “Let’s tell people to change this world together tomorrow.”
Suntom: “OK.”
The next day, they started doing manzai. And they told people about their idea to change the world. But….
A resident: “Thank you for manzai every day. But I can’t agree with your idea. Sorry….”
Shinki: “….”
A resident: “Because we can’t beat 'those people'.”
The four met in the park. They looked sad.
Shinki: “…. Could we change people’s mind?”
Suntom: “No. they said we can’t beat 'those people'.”
Shinki: “People said that to me, too.”
Fuma: “Let’s try again tomorrow.”
The next day, they tried to change peoples’ minds again, but no one agreed with their idea. The four tried many times. But nothing happened. A few days later, people became angry, and said,
The residents: “Don’t come to us again! Our mind will never be changed!”
People threw lots of things at the four. They couldn’t change people’s mind. They became sad, and they didn’t come again.
Shinki came to the park alone. He cried a lot there. Many people came to Shinki’s house every day and said terrible things. He didn’t say anything. One day, he woke up at his home and he looked outside the window. There were many people around his house. He saw that many things around his house were broken…. Shinki thought of his memories. He had a wonderful time with his parents at the dinner table. He enjoyed watching TV with them…. He remembered many things that he enjoyed with his parents.
When he saw many things that were broken, he felt that his memories were broken, too. he became angry and picked up a stone. He stood in front of his house. He threw it at one of the people, and he shouted,
Shinki: “Don’t go too far with your jokes! What are you doing!? What do you want to do to us!?”
All residents became quiet.
Shinki: “We wanted to change this world! So, we tried to change your minds! But even though we tried many times, you changed nothing! And you never tried to listen to us! When a lot of bombs fell, a lot of people died! I saw it many times! So, I didn’t want to see it again! You said 'those people' many times. Why are you afraid of them? They are human, too! They are the same as us! Can’t you understand? A lot of your friends died! Can you understand the last hope of the people who died? It’s ‘To change this world’. People who died don’t want you to die like them. And they don’t want you to be sad. They hope this world will be at peace. And they hope you will be able to live happily from now on. So, you must grant their hope.”
All residents were listening to him quietly.
Shinki: “Do you want to die here!? Do you really think we can’t beat 'those people'? Do you really think we can never change this world? .... Think again. If you change your mind, come to my house.”
The next day. Shinki went to Suntom’s house. He knocked on the door many times, but no one came. He opened the door. But then he was surprised, because a lot of things were scattered on the floor.
Shinki: “Wow! What happened!? Suntom! Suntom!”
Shinki ran around Suntom’s house. Then, he found that one door was open. Shinki went into the room. He found Suntom.
Shinki: “Suntom!”
There were a lot of things around him, too. He was making something desperately. He looked very sleepy. Shinki called to him. But he didn’t hear Shinki. When he called to Suntom again, Suntom looked back slowly. His face was very pale. Then Suntom fell on the floor.
Shinki: “Suntom!? Suntom!?”
A few hours later. Suntom was eating bread.
Shinki: “I was surprised, because you fell on the floor.”
Suntom: “I haven’t eaten food for four days.”
Shinki: “Really!? Why!?”
Suntom: “I was making a ‘big magnet’.”
Shinki: “What is it?”
Suntom: “Did you know the wall around Weeds Island is made of iron?”
Shinki: “Really?”
Suntom: “I went by the wall before I made this, and came up with idea.”
Shinki: “Have you finished making it?”
Suntom: “Not yet. But I’ll finish in two days. Come to my house again then.”
Shinki: “Oh, I’m looking forward to seeing it.”
Two days later, Suntom showed Shinki ‘the big magnet’.
Suntom: “Let’s go to the wall.”
They went by the wall.

Suntom moved it toward the wall.
Then, ‘Bam!!’ The magnet stuck on the wall.
Shinki: “Wow!!”
Suntom: “This is made of the strongest magnetic material.”
Shinki: “I want to climb this wall.”
Suntom told him how to use the magnet. Shinki started climbing with the magnet. But then he fell.
Suntom: “Are you alright?”
Shinki: “…. Yes.”
Suntom: “Actually climbing with this is very difficult.”
Shinki: “Do you have any other ideas about how to climb this wall?”
Suntom: “I thought a lot. But none of the other ideas were good. So, I thought this way was the best.”
Shinki: “How about using a big rope?”
Suntom: “This wall is over 100 meters tall. We will be able to never doing it.”
Shinki climbed the wall with the magnet. It took hours to get to the top of the wall. Shinki got to the top. Shinki saw the outside world. Shinki looked at it for a long time. A few hours later, he came down the wall. Shinki didn’t look happy. And he didn’t say anything.
Suntom: “What was outside of Weeds Island??”
Shinki: “…. The world outside of the wall was full of forests. And…. There was another big wall far away, like the map Sun wrote.”
Suntom: “That’s what I thought. What will we do? I think that wall is as tall as this wall. And how will we go through the forest? There are many horrible beasts in the forest, right? It’s too difficult….”
Shinki: “Don’t forget to hope. If you keep having hope, something will happen.”
Suntom smiled.
Suntom: “That’s right.”
Shinki: “My life is the one that I must decide for myself.”
Suntom: “That’s right!”
Shinki and Suntom went to Suntom’s house. Then Zai and Fuma came there.
Shinki: “Oh, are you alright?”
Fuma: “Yes. I feel good today.”
Zai: “Me, too. what do you want me to do now?”
They went into the house. And Shinki told them that he climbed the wall. He drew pictures of the outside world.
Fuma: “Oh. There’s only forest and another wall…. This is same as Sun drew.”
Zai: “There are horrible beasts in the forest, right?”
Shinki: “Maybe.”
Zai: “Are there any ways to escape from here?”
Suntom: “….”
They were talking for a long time.
Shinki: “Oh! It’s getting dark. Let’s think tomorrow, too.”
Everyone agreed. They each went to their own houses. Shinki went to his home, too. But, when he saw it, he was really surprised. Yesterday, everything around the house was broken, and there were a lot of people who broke his house. But now, it had been cleaned up. Shinki was standing there for a long time.
