Draven stared at Ryu with piercing eyes, a cold smile curling on his lips. His black spear trembled, radiating a menacing dark energy. “You’re just a child,” he said mockingly, “but I won’t underestimate the Haze blood flowing through you. Let’s see what you can do.”
Ryu stood trembling, but his hand holding the glowing blue sword remained steady. In his mind, Toru’s voice continued to guide him. “Don’t be afraid, Ryu. Focus. Feel the power within you. This isn’t just about surviving—it’s about protecting those you love.”
Draven moved first. With incredible speed for someone of his size, he leapt toward Ryu, swinging his massive spear with immense force. Ryu closed his eyes, feeling the surge of energy within him, then raised his sword to block the attack.
CLANG!
The clash sent sparks flying and unleashed a wave of energy that shook the ground around them. Ryu was thrown back several meters but managed to stay on his feet. “He’s strong,” Ryu thought. “But I can’t back down.”
Draven advanced again, this time launching a relentless barrage of attacks. His spear spun like a dark storm, striking from all directions. Ryu could only defend, barely managing to parry each strike.
“Faster, Ryu!” Toru’s voice echoed in his mind. “Your strength is far greater than you realize. Trust your instincts!”
Feeling cornered, Ryu decided to fight back. He leapt into the air, his sword glowing brighter, and slashed toward Draven. A wave of blue energy shot forth from the blade, racing toward his opponent.
Draven dodged, but the edge of the wave struck his armor, creating a small crack. He glanced at the damage, surprised, then turned his gaze back to Ryu. “Interesting. You’re no ordinary child after all.”
Draven raised his spear high, absorbing dark energy from the surroundings. “But you’re too slow. Let me show you what happens when you challenge a soldier of King Shin!” His spear grew larger, surrounded by writhing black shadows. With a powerful throw, he hurled it toward Ryu.
The spear shot forward at an incredible speed, destroying everything in its path. Ryu knew there was no way to evade it. In an instant, Toru’s voice commanded, “Use your shield, now!”
Ryu raised his sword in front of him, and a blue energy shield materialized, enveloping his body. Draven’s spear struck the shield, triggering a massive explosion that shook the entire village. When the dust settled, Ryu was still standing, the blue shield fading away.
Draven hissed in disbelief. “How is this possible?!”
Ryu felt the power within him growing stronger. “I must trust in the Haze bloodline,” he thought. With newfound courage, he launched an attack against Draven.
His sword now felt lighter, moving as if it were an extension of his body. Each swing unleashed waves of energy that forced Draven onto the defensive. Despite his strength, Draven began to falter under the relentless onslaught.
“Enough!” Draven roared. He jumped back, raising his left hand. Dark energy gathered in his palm, forming a massive pulsating orb. “I won’t hold back anymore, boy. Take this—my full power!”
The dark orb shot toward Ryu, destroying the ground and trees in its path. But Ryu stood firm. He plunged his sword into the ground and, with a voice full of determination, shouted, “I will not lose!”
A blinding blue light erupted from Ryu’s body, swallowing the dark orb entirely. Within the radiant glow, the faint figure of Toru appeared behind Ryu, shielding and empowering him.
As the light faded, Draven fell to his knees, his breath ragged. His body was battered, his armor nearly destroyed. He looked at Ryu with a mixture of hatred and reluctant respect. “You’ve won this time, boy,” he muttered before retreating into the shadows of the night.
Ryu collapsed, exhausted. Toru’s voice came again, softer this time. “You did well, Ryu. But this is only the beginning.”
In the distance, his mother wept with relief as his father ran to embrace him. Ryu knew his life would never be the same. He now understood that a great destiny awaited him, and he had to be ready for whatever came next.
