The construction of the energy barrier in Cyber City was proceeding at full speed. Thousands of workers, scientists, and technicians worked day and night, creating the most advanced defense system ever. The city was filled with the sound of heavy machinery, the sparks of electricity from giant generators, and the bright light from the project's lights. The people of Cyber City watched with anticipation, believing that the barrier would be a protection against possible threats.
However, in the midst of this persistence, strange signs began to appear. The air felt heavier, the sky of Cyber City changed color, from bright blue to dark gray with a thin fog beginning to cover it. Scientists considered it a normal phenomenon caused by massive energy use.
When the barrier was almost complete, suddenly a great tremor struck. The entire city shook, causing tall buildings to sway violently, and the streets were full of cracks. The tremors were not like ordinary earthquakes. The ground felt like it was moving, but no epicenter was detected by the equipment.
Some people tried to escape to the outskirts of the city, but the thick fog blocked every way out. Cars came to a screeching halt, unable to penetrate the seemingly limitless fog. The air in the fog was so silent that even the sound of footsteps seemed to be absorbed.
As the fog grew thicker, the people of Cyber City began to notice something even stranger. The city no longer felt like it was in its proper place. The scenery outside the fog disappeared completely, as if the city had been cut off from the real world.
Confusion reigned. People gathered in the main square, begging the government for answers. The president of Cyber City appeared on the balcony of the main building, trying to calm his people.
“We are investigating what happened,” he said in a firm voice. “Remain calm and follow the officers’ instructions. We will get through this together.”
But in his heart, the president himself had no answers. He stared out into the fog, sensing that something was watching, something that logic could not explain.
Elsewhere, Ryu and Lyra, watching the news from Ryu’s family home, began to feel uneasy. The fog that had engulfed Cyber City felt like the beginning of something much bigger. Ryu stood up from the couch, his gaze sharp.
“We have to go there,” he said firmly.
Lyra, worried, nodded. “But how? The city is isolated.”
“I will find a way,” Ryu replied. “If the fog is a threat, I cannot just sit there.”
They quickly got ready, leaving the house with heavy feelings. On the way, Ryu couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong. The fog was no mere natural phenomenon.
Inside the fog, things got worse. Strange noises began to be heard, like incomprehensible whispers. Some residents reported large shadows moving in the distance, though no one could say for sure what they were.
As night fell, the fog grew thicker, making Cyber City feel like a world caught between dimensions. The sky above the city was filled with strange flashes, like lightning, but without sound.
The scientists in charge of the barrier project began to panic. Data showed that the city had shifted from its original coordinates. They could no longer find any connection to the outside world.
One of the scientists, a woman named Dr. Elaine, discovered something horrifying. The fog seemed to have a pattern, as if it was studying the every movement of the humans within it.
“There is something in this fog,” she said, trembling. “And it is… alive.”
When Dr. Elaine tried to warn the president, the fog around her suddenly moved, encircling her in an instant. She disappeared, without a trace.
Outside, people began to lose hope. Many prayed, while others tried to escape into buildings, hoping that the concrete walls could protect them.
However, amidst the chaos, there was someone walking calmly in the fog. The figure was not affected by fear or confusion. He stopped in the middle of the square, looking towards the main building.
The president who saw him through the camera screen was horrified. The figure had no face, just a dark shadow shaped like a human.
"We must fight," the president said to the guards. But in his heart, he knew that this enemy might be beyond human reach.
Ryu and Lyra who finally managed to reach the edge of the fog also felt the same strangeness. Ryu held Lyra's hand tightly, preparing himself to face whatever was inside.
"No matter what happens, we must stay together," he said softly.
They stepped into the fog, heading towards Cyber City which now looked like another world.
