考古学者の手に白紙の手紙が渡される
Ryu and Lyra decided to take the blank letter to a renowned archaeologist living in the northern city, hoping to uncover clues about its origin. The expert, a brilliant woman named Dr. Amelia Carter, had dedicated her life to studying ancient artifacts and mysterious objects from the past.
The journey to the city was fraught with unease. Along the way, the letter continued to emit its strange aura. Though it appeared blank, its presence seemed to affect everything around them. Trees in the forest withered as they passed, and wild animals avoided them as if repelled by something invisible.
Upon arriving in the city, they went straight to Dr. Amelia’s laboratory, a place filled with an eclectic array of artifacts and ancient documents. Amelia, a woman in her mid-thirties with short blonde hair and small glasses perched on the bridge of her nose, greeted them with keen curiosity.
“What brings you here?” Amelia asked, noting the serious expressions on Ryu and Lyra’s faces.
“We found this,” Ryu said, holding up the letter. “It’s blank, but it has strange powers. We don’t know where it came from, and we’re hoping you can help.”
Amelia carefully took the letter, putting on protective gloves. As soon as she touched it, her expression grew serious. “This letter… it’s not an ordinary object. I can feel something unusual about it.”
Amelia placed the letter on her workbench and began analyzing it with advanced equipment. She used ultraviolet light, microscopes, and even energy measurement devices. The results were astonishing.
“This letter… has no discernible material structure,” she said, looking at them in bewilderment. “It’s like something beyond our physical laws. Even under a microscope, it reveals nothing—completely blank, yet somehow filled with something invisible.”
Ryu and Lyra exchanged concerned looks. “What does that mean?” Lyra asked.
Amelia took a deep breath. “This object influences reality itself. I’ve never encountered anything like it. But it reminds me of ancient documents I once studied that described something similar. A mysterious artifact called the Catalyst of the Void—an object with no substance yet possessing the power to alter time, space, and life.”
Ryu’s worry deepened. “What should we do with it?”
Amelia met their eyes, her expression grave. “If this really is the Catalyst of the Void, it’s extremely dangerous. According to legend, this object doesn’t belong in our world. Anyone who wields it could manipulate reality, but its effects are unpredictable.”
Lyra clutched Ryu’s hand. “So, we can’t just leave it here?”
Amelia nodded. “We need to find a way to send it back to where it came from before something worse happens. But to do that, we need to learn more about this object. I’ll need time to conduct further research. One thing is clear—you must be very careful with this. Many would seek it, and that could bring danger to you.”
With mixed feelings, Ryu and Lyra agreed to leave the letter in Dr. Amelia’s care for the time being. However, outside the laboratory, spies from King Shin’s kingdom had been watching them. News of the mysterious letter had reached King Shin’s ears, and he would not allow a power of this magnitude to fall into anyone’s hands but his own.
