Chapter 3
Yuki was relieved when Okami had spoken about him wanting to cook instead. The only thing she could cook without burning herself and the house were noodles. She had no cooking skills and that was only because her mother never cared to teach her. Even when Yuki begged and begged. Yuki gave up on asking as her mother would always throw something hot at her. Most times, she managed to avoid any damage. She shook her head to clear up any negative thoughts about her parents’ treatment of her. She didn’t have to care anymore since Okami treated her like a princess, no, a queen. Okami is treating her like a queen and Yuki likes it, she is just wondering is it okay for her to like it.
No one had never treated her so nicely before and she secretly hoped that it wasn’t just a facade as she truly enjoyed being in Okami’s presence. Yuki went back to the bed that she had rested on and she sat on it. She was just about to drift back asleep when she smelled the most amazing thing ever. ‘What is that smell?’ She wondered as she unconsciously followed the scent of the delicious smelling dish. When she felt rough, yet gentle hands on her arms, Yuki opened her eyes to see the most amazing dish of chicken and dumplings. Her water was practically watering and Okami was glad to see that his future bride was very pleased with his cooking. “This is amazing,” she tells Okami, who merely nodded. “Are you not a famous chef?” Yuki’s words shocked him because no one had ever told him that.
“I could be a famous chef?” Okami asked, still shocked about the question that Yuki had asked him. Yuki giggled, while tasting the food. She felt like she was floating again, but this time, it was out of happiness instead of being too stressed out to get hot. Okami held Yuki. “Are you alright? You’re acting funny,” he was concerned about Yuki so much that he never tasted his own food.
“You are an awesome cook!” Yuki squealed in Okami’s ears and while Okami normally don’t like girls squealing, he felt that Yuki’s squeals made him want to work more hard to earn her trust as she acted like a child when she squeals.
“Thank you,” he told her. He didn’t think that his cooking was that amazing, but if Yuki enjoys it, that was all that matters to him. Dinner was served after Yuki helped him fixed plates for everyone that lived in the house with them. After dinner was over, the maid offered to wash the dishes and Yuki offered to help.
“But, miss, are you sure?” She asked Yuki. Yuki didn’t mind washing dishes as it was what made her useful at her parents’ house so she feels that washing dishes is the only useful and good thing that she can do. With two people washing and drying the dishes, the dishes had gotten done in the span of ten minutes. The maid was shocked as it normally takes her about twenty minutes just to wash and dry dishes. “That was the quickest time the dishes were ever done,” the maid was shocked at how fast Yuki washes. It was like she knew how to spot every crook and nanny on each dish. The maid then wondered why Yuki was acting so deranged and slightly afraid when washing dishes and so she asked her dreaded question.
“Ah, I’m used to being home and my parents are extremely strict,” Yuki offered partly the truth of the maid’s question. She didn’t want to tell the maid that she was being abused by her parents. What would telling her make Yuki look like? Yuki didn’t want to be accused of being a gold-digger either, due to the marriage to Okami.
“C’mon Yuki, I am ready to help you out,” Okami called out to Yuki, who obediently went towards her future groom. She was surprised that Okami was holding her bag, but she was more surprised that Okami was simply holding the most basic workbook ever and he wasn’t saying anything rude to her. Okami motioned for her to sit and sat she did. She made sure to sit close to Okami so he could be able to explain something she didn’t understand. When Okami opened up the workbook, she felt her face heat up from embarrassment. ‘He probably thinks I’m dumb.’ She thought, her eyes about to water, but Okami gently tilted her head up to his face. “Don’t cry, Yuki, this will help you out a lot,” Okami tells Yuki. Yuki calmed down and she let Okami whisper words of encouragement to her. After he was done whispering, she was grinning from ear to ear.
Yuki read the first problem and then the second one. “One plus one is two. Two plus zero is zero,” Yuki responded to the problems out loud and she wrote down the answers on the work booklet. After about a hour had passed by, Okami noticed that Yuki had done nearly the entire book after he had explained some problems to her. He couldn’t help the grin that broke across his face. He was glad for Yuki getting it right. Yuki yawned and she leaned against Okami’s chest. Okami froze, feeling Yuki rest on him. He smiled, enjoying how happy Yuki was.
