Chapter 2
Yuki was shocked at Okami's words. Why? She wondered. They didn't even know each other, except for their names and that couldn't even count because they were told each other's names by separate people. Yuki gulped down her fear and she gazed into Okami's cold, green eyes that seemed to have a small faintness of caring for her. "Why?" She asked him. Okami was so shocked, but he kept Yuki's small frame in his arms as he didn't want to hurt her by dropping her onto the hard concrete.
"It's my duty to care for you now. I have to make sure you are comfortable with me," he answered, giving Yuki a determined gaze that almost made Yuki faint in happiness, but she suddenly felt a little threatened. Yuki growled softly at the man holding her and Okami lifted her and released her from his protective grip. He knew why she had growled at him.
Yuki wrapped her arms around herself and she walked past Okami. "Well, don't you think it's time for us to go home, dear husband?" She asked Okami. Okami sighed sadly. He knew that Yuki was just hurt because of being sold by the people that were supposed to protect her and they didn't even want to do that right.
Okami gently held Yuki's hands as he got on his knees. "Even though I am a rich man, I do want you to open up to me," he begs of Yuki, who gave him a small smile, even though it was a cold one.
"I'm sure they told you about my failures," Yuki says with a sad tone, her eyes watering. She didn't want to cry in front of this stranger, but his caring words affected her so much. She started to let her tears fall and she hugged Okami. Okami was shocked at feeling the girl hug him, but he rubbed her back comfortingly to ease her of her grief at practically being disowned by her parents. He felt her tight grip on the back of his shirt and when she clenched his shirt in her fist, he knew that she was a lot more hurt than he expected her to be. Yuki wasn't just hurt.
She was damaged and Okami knew it. He felt extreme anger at Yuki's parents for selling their only child and daughter to him. He knew that he wasn't going to hurt Yuki, but what if she was sold to a man that would have wanted Yuki to not have an education and hurt her even worse than her parents did? Okami was glad that she was sold to him because he could protect her easily. "I can care for you unlike your parents," he muttered to Yuki, trying to convince her to calm down around him. He wasn't going to hurt her and it was obvious to him that Yuki was abused by her parents because of her fear of him clenching his fist in anger. He was alarmed by the fact that Yuki thought that he, Kurogami OKami, was going to hit her! He could never hurt the one that was supposed to be his wife. He knew that marrying him was going to put a burden on Yuki, but he wanted to make sure that she was fine with being married legally to him. "Moshina Yuki, would you mind being my bride?" He asked, holding her gently in his arms.
To say Yuki was shock was an understatement. She had no idea that Okami was going to ask her flat out to marry him! She gasped at his words and before she knew it, Yuki felt like she was floating. Okami was worried about Yuki had fainted in his arms. He told his bodyguards to help her into the car and to drive to his home quickly.
After a while, Yuki had awakened, but she was laid on an unfamilair bed in a unknown room to her. She almost screamed in fear, thinking she had been kidnapped, but she then remembered that she had felt floaty a few moments ago. 'Ugh! Did I faint again?' She wondered, seeing Okami pass by the room. When Okami passed by the room, he saw Yuki shift, but when she had laid up in the bed he had put her in, he immediately stopped at the door.
"Are you alright?" He asked, not gazing into the room as Yuki never noticed that her shirt was missing. Yuki was confused by Okami not looking into the room until she felt cool air on her body. She gazed down and she gazed at Okami.
"Did you take off my shirt?" She asked quietly. Okami gulped down his fear.
"It's not what you think! You were burning up and so, I thought taking off your shirt was the most reasonable thing to do! I didn't look, I swear. I-I had on a blindfold!" Okami panicked because he knew how women reacted to their clothes being removed, especially when they have been sleeping.
"Thanks," Yuki responded. She knew why Okami was scared. He thought that she was going to react all 'I'm going to kill you stage', but Yuki was much more mature than that. "I guess I forgot that I tend to burn up more when I'm stressed out," she reveals to Okami. 'You saved my life.' Yuki thought. Okami's cheek was reachable to her and so, Yuki pressed her lips to Okami's cheek, showing her gratitude to him. Okami, on the outside was shocked, but on the inside, he was slightly more cheerful.
"Do you want to work on your work later on today?" Okami asked Yuki, after he was done reacting mentally to the kiss he received from her.
Yuki turned to him, still not wearing a shirt. "That'll be perfect," she responded to him, placing one of his shirts on her frame. "Shall I cook dinner tonight?" Yuki asked Okami. Okami wanted Yuki to relax, so he gently refused her offer.
"No need, my dear, I'll cook for everyone," he answered to her, making Yuki smile. Yuki turned so Okami wouldn't be able to see the smile, but because she had smiled in front of Okami, he had seen it anyway. 'Beautiful smile.' He thought, hoping that Yuki will be happy with him.
