cold metal

cold metal gun

cold metal run

what gives you the license to kill

if I told you clear, you will find it

police violence is not a language of a well-kept land

but your uniform does not guarantee your profession

you've pulled the trigger and rain the bullets down

spray them to unsuspecting citizens

and have the people I know be shot and injured

what have you done?

by mere lack of inhibition you left us and my neighborhood an eerie vacancy

you don't know whom you took a life with

you'll never know what shock you gave

whether if I have sympathy

you have no right

for I know the men you shot and injured

he's been a kuya to me

he'd been a safe protector

yes, cocky

but you never know him

he can be a leader of a fraternity

so what?

he's more active in our community

more proactive to comply with the law

than you could ever be

more innocent than you could ever be

for he never owned a trigger

even if he's an heir or an established successor

he bears the family honor that you could never have

who knew that a cold metal is a measurement of a scum

vagabond bastard wandering around in uniform

if drunk, he sheds his coat and goes wild like an animal

rot in jail, then

for you'll never see the aftermath

the sadness flickering in his father's eyes

the grief you've inflicted to his mother

as they watch their son in a coffin

and be buried in a graveyard

is it worth a ceremony for the rest of us?

he's my neighbor

see the cold metal gun shines with luminance

see how your uniform's authority

speaks violence and degradation

he could've leave

he could've run

but he didn't

when he had a younger one

see, how he differed from you?

your cold metal and profession pour bullets

but a frat leader knows how to immediately shield his younger brother

from a fatal shot

even if it costs him his life

something a dignified man you will never be

for he may be anything but what others don't see

he's been a kuya to me and to the people who knew him well

bearing our family honor and character

he who doesn't wear violence as a badge

and he who is a real leader that never left his men behind

how are you compared to him?

fuckin' pig

and I write this

when I remember

what confusion you left us to grapple with

how dare you leave it like that

and dare to bribe justice with a pay

who the hell do you think you're dealing with?

what you have is just a crumb to what he eats everyday

rot in jail, and leave your family behind

just as much you forced him to leave his children and his wife

and I'm left to remember with anger and hurt

for how dare you

make us feel this vulnerable

when nothing wrong was done to solicit such encounter

they'd arrived to a place peacefully

minded their business peacefully

for an ill-bred drunkard like you

to go ballistic when asked to leave the bar

was it fate?

no, for how does fate compensate

a house that lingered with imposed silence

done by the hands of a fool like you

who think a cold metal like a gun

is an icon to be feared and revered

what you have proven instead

is how low you can get

that will soon have your own family bearing the yoke of your sin

and shame
