Kohei stepped into the snow-covered world and felt like the cold winter air pierced his cheeks. On the way to school, he heard laughter. A group of students gathered and waited to cross the street. Their joyful appearance was far from the thought that bothered Kohei last night. "Isn't it Kohei?" A female student said in a sharply echoing voice in the cold. She looked back at her friend, squinted her eyes and stared at him. " A "perfect" student who has never taken anything other than A last year? "That's right!" Another female student answered with a voice containing playful jealousy. " The girls in school are crazy about him." "He's so cool... I wish he would accept my love letter..." The third female student sighed. I felt that Kohei's stomach was tightened by those words. "But he's crazy about studying," the second female student said with a smile. Kohei noticed them, and their words drifted around him like snow dancing in the wind. He felt their gaze, but he tried not to think about it deeply. Instead, I focused my attention on the clear air of winter. " Today will be a good day," he thought, and smiled faintly in his heavy heart. " I can feel it from the air." The school bell rang, and the sharp sound pulled his thoughts back. He went to the philosophy class, and the classroom was filled with the quiet buzz of the students who had already sat down. Mr. Sinto, a philosophy teacher, stood in front of the classroom and began to speak in a calm voice. " And the man continued to move forward, worrying about the past and the future. And the man realized ... the past has already happened, but the future is uncertain ... if you live in the present, you can find peace." Dr. Sinto's gaze was directed at Kohei, and a gentle smile appeared on his face. " Kohei, can you read the next paragraph?" "Yes, Mr. Sinto," Kohei replied in a clear and calm voice. He looked down at the book and read the words in a natural flow. " The man broke his leg, but still kept walking. I broke my fist, but I still kept fighting. I got lost in my life, but I still continued to live. If you have determination and spirit, anyone can find their true purpose..." Mr. Sinto nodded and his smile spread even more. " Thank you, Kohei. Let's continue." Time passed, and the sun spilled like sand from Kohei's hand. The bell announcing the end of the class rang again, and he sat quietly on the bench outside and took the novel out of his bag. He immersed himself in the page, and the world around him disappeared for the peace of mind. "A gentle smile can cause a storm of change," he read aloud to himself. The phrase remained in the air like a challenge. Before thinking about the words, a group of boys appeared in front of him. Their existence was clearly intentional. The leader of the group, a boy with a constant sneer on his face, opened his mouth first. " Hey, that's the perfect student. It's the one that everyone hates, right?" "That's right, that's exactly him!" Another boy said with sneer. Kohei looked up at them and couldn't read their expressions. He kept silent and quietly looked into their eyes. A boy noticed a book in Kohei's hand and laughed with his nose. " What are you reading? Is it a book to not be a loser?" The group laughed all at once, and the sound sounded unpleasantly in Kohei's ears. However, he did not respond and continued to stare at them with calm eyes. I noticed that they were proud and the laughter was a little too loud. "Loser, you know," Kohei said quietly, as if he was really thinking about the idea. "That's right, you're a shitty nerd!" The leader told me to throw up with a sneer. Kohei let out a small laugh and surprised the group. " That's a pretty bold assumption. And what are you so good at?" His words floated in the air and contained the meaning of provocation. A boy stepped forward and said in a mocking tone. " Oh, look, this guy is smart! Do you think you're better than us?" "It's a waste of time," Kohei thought. His mind had already begun to return to the words of the book. " Honestly, why are you bullying me? I just want to read a book." But he put it in his mouth and said with a grin. " Knowledge is to know that tomatoes are fruits, but maturity is to know that you don't put them in fruit salads. It's a pity that you can't understand the difference between knowledge and wisdom." The leader laughed sneery. " Look, the otaku has a book! Haha, are you going to kill us by studying?" Kohei smiled, but he wasn't moved. He closed the book carefully and looked into their eyes with a light joke. " Studying is a valuable skill. You guys should try it too. However, it may be difficult for you to do more than a picture book." He stood up and adjusted the bag on his shoulder. " Well then, I'm going to finish reading the book." He walked away from the boys in the group and continued to walk, feeling their gaze on his back. The cold air in December stabbed his cheek, and he couldn't help but exhale a white breath. " It's finally over..." He continued to walk slowly and without hesitation towards the house. The snowy street turned into a white sea, and the streetlights were casting warm light around it. The city was relatively quiet at this time, and Kohei enjoyed the tranquility. The only sound was the soft sound of his boots stepping on the fresh snow. As he walked, he turned his eyes to the ground and found something shining in the snow. Intrigued, he stopped, got down on his knees and picked it up. When he brushed off the snow, there was an old and worn coin in the palm of his hand, and a strange and interesting crest was engraved. Kohei stared at the coin and thought about it. It was a foreign thing, and it was something he had never seen before. " Where did this come from? How long have you been here?" He looked around as if he expected someone to show up and explain what this is. However, the street was quiet, and there was only the sound of cars passing by in the distance. Kohei approached the house, and the front yard was studded with snowflakes like frozen canvas. He noticed the warm light leaking from the window and felt at ease in contrast to the cold winter night. He went up to the porch and heard his parents chatting inside. After walking for a while, he opened the door and stepped into the warm front door, and was immediately wrapped in the scent of his mother's home cooking. " While saying, "I'm home," he took off his coat and shoes. "Welcome back," my mother called out from the kitchen. The father came out of the living room with a newspaper. " I came home late today," the father said, looking at the book that Kohei still had. "I was absorbed in finishing reading a book in the library ..." Kohei laughed a little sorry. "Let's not talk about bullying," he thought. Because I didn't want to make my parents worry. He could see that they were worried and made a fuss. "Absolutely, I can't separate you from the book," the father said with a laugh. " Aren't you more attached to that page than us?" "Anyway, I'll go to my room and study a little. I'm ready for the test," said Kohei, and took a step towards the stairs. "Don't stay up late," the father said as he returned to the newspaper. Kohei nodded, and as he went up the stairs, his heart was already in concentrated mode. He entered his room and felt a sense of security that he could concentrate on his studies. I put a book on the desk, sat down, and looked at the notes and reference materials on the wall. His eyes stopped at the coin still in his hand. He turned it over and carefully observed the strange mark on the surface. " Where did this come from? And what does it mean?" he thought quietly. I took a deep breath and put it on the desk. " Well, I have no choice but to find out by myself..." Kohei started studying, but his heart returned to the coin many times. After 30 minutes, he closed the book and sighed. " No, I can't concentrate," he thought, and looked at the coin again. " Let's try it..." Kohei picked up the coin and turned it around with his fingertips. " Let's see if it's just a prank coin..." He turned it over, and the metal rotated in the air and returned to the palm of his hand. He covered it while feeling his heart beating like a bell, and expected that nothing was displayed. *death* "Death." The words were cruel and absolute, and something cold ran down his spine. He stared at it with shock, and the room suddenly felt cold. " Is this a joke?" He thought. " Or... is there any deeper meaning?" He exhaled a trembling breath, and various possibilities and fears went around his head. The coin was certainly working, but what does it mean? Kohei put the coin back on the desk, shaking his hands slightly. " The word "death" was repeated in his head like a refrain many times. "No, this is just a prank," he told himself, trying to keep calm. " Don't be afraid of coins. It's just a coincidence." He changed into his pajamas and tried to ignore the anxiety that gushed up from the bottom of his stomach. He decided to sleep and forget it, and hoped it would be clear in the morning. Kohei woke up, and the light came in through the gap in the curtain. He sat down rubbing his eyes, and what happened last night seemed like a nightmare. " That was just a mischievous coin," he repeated in his heart and tried to convince himself. He got out of bed, changed into his uniform, and went downstairs. In the living room, my parents were discussing something while drinking coffee in the morning. "Are you talking about gas bill again?" The mother said in a slightly irritated voice, even though she was a little amused. "What, can't I learn more about current affairs?" The father answered while drinking coffee. The two of them continued such an exchange. Kohei had been listening to the story for a while. "I'm going," Kohei said after clearing his throat, and took the bag from the kitchen counter. His parents stopped talking and looked back at him. "Be careful going to school," my mother said a little worriedly. "Don't lose your grades," the father said, like a parent who always watches over him. "Yes, yes, see you!" He closed the door and stepped into the freezing winter air. The way to school was usually a quiet time for him to clear his head. It's a moment before the hustle and bustle begins. As I approached the school, I heard the lively voices of the students as usual. He heard fragments of the conversation and listened to the typical high school gossip about love and the latest trends. "Did you see him? He's so handsome!" "I wonder if you'll notice today..." Kohei sighed in his heart. His reputation at school was a double-edged sword. It's good to be popular, but it's tiring to get constant attention. Kohei sat at the desk and stared at the snow falling outside the window. "I want to sleep all the time for two days," said one boy and smiled. "That's right, I wish school would be a weekend forever," the girl replied with a laugh. *Bang*. The sound echoed in the classroom, surprising the students and making them quiet. Kohei looked up with the other students and was surprised in his eyes. A teacher who was usually calm and calm now stood in front of the classroom with a tense expression. "Everyone, listen carefully," the teacher's voice was harsh. " There's something serious I have to tell everyone." The classroom began to buzz quietly. The students were clearly surprised by the sudden change in the teacher's attitude. "Is he okay?" "You look very serious..." says one boy. "What are you talking about?" Another boy asks. Kohei felt the anxiety spreading in the back of his chest. The teacher was usually a calm and friendly person, but this was completely unexpected. The teacher waited for the buzz to subside and began to talk again. " Unfortunately, I have to tell everyone the sad news." The teacher put a moment behind, and the tension in the classroom increased. " This news is about one of our students." Kohei's heart almost stopped. "One of the students...?" He looked around and noticed the various reactions of his classmates. Those who are shocked, those who are confused... "Unfortunately ... one of our classmates passed away." Kohei felt as if he had been held his breath. "No way... this is not real. Someone... died!? Why? Why?" Thoughts swirled violently in his head. " That coin..." I remembered that cold word that appeared last night. " No, it can't be connected. This is just a strange coincidence." His heart returned to the word "death" again. The teacher was trying to calm the commotion in the classroom. " Everyone, please be quiet." "Everyone, be quiet!" He screamed in anger at the commotion and hit the desk again. He was angry with the students who took such a rude attitude towards human lives. "Even though the student passed away, are you talking as if nothing had happened!? Don't you have any respect for human lives!? Listen carefully." The teacher took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. His voice was serious, but this time he had regained his composure. "Thank you. This news is shocking, but we need to maintain some respect. I will hold a minute of silence for my deceased classmates, and then I will accept any questions." A student named Fuji, who was sitting in the back seat, raised his hand. His attitude was calm. "Yes, Fuji?" The teacher answered. "How did you die, Dr. Sinto?" Fuji asked in a calm voice. The teacher stared at Fuji for a while, but seemed surprised by such a direct question. " I am..." "I don't know all the details yet, but it seems to have been sudden. It seems to be a serious health problem." The buzz spread among the students. Serious health problems? This information added a further mystery to the death of a deceased classmate. One student was talking about a rumor that a classmate who was a bully died. " Who died? I heard you're a bully?" Another student nodded and said. " Yes, it's the one who always bullied people. But I didn't know there was a serious health problem. Dr. Sinto said it was sudden, but no one knew he was sick." This information shook Kohei's heart violently again. " There were no health problems ... a bully ... suddenly died ..." It became an increasingly suspicious situation ... - - -
