# Chapter 2: The Day the Sky Turned Red
# Chapter 2: The Day the Sky Turned Red
We were walking home from yet another one of Master's obnoxious training sessions when, without warning, the sky bled red.
And what stepped out of that crimson sky was a direct subordinate of the Demon Lord himself. The Demon Lord's Army.
**Demon Lord's Army General — Vada**
"Hmph. So even the mage ranked #1 in the world turns to nothing when he's busy babysitting a brat. Let's see how you hold up under a little... *pressure*."
The air itself seemed to crack. A crushing weight slammed down on Witch Enaga.
"...ah, gh— can't... breathe—. Master, I'm sorry... I—"
Master.
Not a trace of his usual joking tone left. Just a quiet, steady voice.
"...Sheesh. I just finished tying up that cowlick of yours, and here you are making a face like that. Don't you dare, De— ...Witch Enaga."
"Master...? What is that light...?"
"Listen carefully. Think of this as an extension of your training. I'm about to transfer one-third of my mana to you. Right now."
"Wait, what — if you do that, you'll—!!"
"Ten years. Give it ten years, and I'll come tie up that cowlick again. Hold your head high — you're my number one disciple.
...I'll see you again. My child."
In that instant, Master's body dissolved into particles of light and was gone.
**Demon Lord's Army General — Vada**
"Wh— he vanished?! Ran off, did he?! Ha-ha-HAAA! Guess that leaves just you, little girl. I'll send you off first—"
Head still bowed, Witch Enaga's voice dropped to a temperature somewhere below freezing.
"Shut up."
She raised her head, slowly. In her eyes burned a cold, merciless light unlike anything she'd shown before.
*Master always said it — "Even half-remembered, if the form's right, it kills." ...Fine. Let's find out.*
"Wh-what is this mana...! Don't tell me — the technique of the world's #2?! No... this is beyond that—!!"
Enaga: **"—— GIGA DIVOID ——"**
A single flash, blinding as the sun at high noon on the equator in midsummer, and the entirety of the Demon Lord's Army was erased in an instant.
"............ ...Master? Where'd you go? ...Breakfast is getting cold, you know...?"
Only the sound of wind answered, sweeping across the empty wasteland. And in that moment, a hole — vast and hollow — opened up inside Witch Enaga's heart.
